We speak to the beauty experts at A2i Makeup on bridal makeup and beauty services for the everyday woman.

Housed in a lovely studio space in Joo Chiat Place, filled with an abundance of sunlight, spaciousness and cosyness, lies A2i Makeup, a beauty brand by Candy Tiong of Candy T. Makeup Artistry. Born out of Candy’s love and passion for sharing beauty services, know-hows and skills, A2i Makeup, otherwise known as Aspire 2 Inspire Makeup, is founded on the focus on beauty related services and workshops for the both brides and the everyday woman.

The team behind this nearly one-year-old beauty brand is made up of three other highly skilled and professionally certified specialists who’ve honed their skill sets further by training under and working with Candy over the years. Bonded by a shared preference for the natural and smoky look, the experts at A2i Makeup are adept at creating a personalised wedding look for their brides based on their natural features, the wedding look they want and their makeup preferences.

Besides sharing a common makeup style, these beauty gurus are also motivated by a common passion and goal to offer beauty services such as makeovers, lash extensions and brow embroidery to the everyday woman in a tranquil and exclusive environment.

“I wanted to create a more universal and approachable, holistic beauty brand where any woman, bride or otherwise, young or old, executives or housewives, can be pampered and beautified in comfort,” Candy expounds. “But more than the desire to create a beauty haven for women, I wanted to create a fun and inspiring space for them to learn how to beautify themselves through proper makeup and skincare.”

That’s right, A2i Makeup is more than just a haven for beauty services. The cosy, well-lit studio is also home to a series of specially designed beauty workshops meant to impart basic beauty and makeup skills to beginners and enhance the skill sets of professionally trained beauty specialists. The two-hour long workshops are casual in nature, somewhat like a girls’ get-together, and kept to an intimate class size of 10 for each session. Participants will experience a 35-minute live demonstration by an expert instructor before they get to try their newly-acquired skills under the watchful eye of the instructor and her assistant, who will advise, correct and offer personalised tips during the remaining time.

As A2i Makeup’s clients, brides and workshop participants alike can attest to, the friendly experts behind this beauty brand are united in their commitment to beautify and share beauty and health related advice. “Here at A2i Makeup, we are advocates of the saying “Beauty comes from within”,” Candy emphasises. “What you eat and drink, and how much rest you gets show up ultimately on your skin, and topical skincare products and makeup can only do so much. So, we always remind our brides and clients to eat, drink and rest well for natural beautiful skin.”

“We also stress to our clients on the importance of wearing sunblock and the role it plays in protecting the skin and preventing over-exposure which results in pre-mature aging and fine lines” she emphasises. “Ideally, choose one that is at least SPF50+++ with active ingredients that are anti-pollutant and anti-UV for the best protection. Reapply throughout the day after every six to eight hours and if you’re wearing makeup, always remember to remove it before reapplying your sunblock.”

For brides, in addition to the above beauty tips, the A2i Makeup team recommends masking every other day to keep your skin supple and healthy and avoid trying any new products just before your wedding day to prevent a possible negative reaction to the newcomer. “But if you must, do it at least two months before your big day,” Candy advises. “That way, in the event of a break-out, your skin will have sufficient time to heal before your big day.”
