Amanda Lee Weddings’ 11 Graceful And Sensual Bridal Looks For Spring/Summer 2017
The Amanda Lee Weddings SS17 collection is filled with fresh, liberating wedding dresses that are as delicate and graceful as a budding bloom.
Entitled “Hana,” Amanda Lee Weddings SS17 takes inspiration from a graceful bloom. “Fresh, liberating, and pure bliss forms the core of our concept,” says designer Amanda Lee. “Just like a budding flower that is so delicate and graceful, yet vibrant and filled with anticipation.” Each dress beautifully captures the essence and vitality of an unfurling flower, with light, graceful silhouettes that are given Amanda’s signature modern twist. A whimsical ribbon corset here, a minimalistic line or pop of colour there, all combine to create wedding gowns that are at once graceful and modern.
The designer does away with traditional foundations and underpinnings that add weight and stiffness, to create softer bodices and skirts for pieces that are sensual yet elegant. “Just like the flowers swaying in the field, shapes and silhouettes are soft and unstructured,” Amanda says. In Amanda Lee Weddings’ SS17 collection, classic ball gowns and A-lines are ethereal with layers of diaphanous tulle and silky satins. She plays with textures and translucency by layering different types of laces, beadwork, and fluttering tulle petals, creating sensual illusion necklines and gossamer skirts. Amanda describes how she achieves the gowns’ ethereal quality, “Soft fabrication such as tulle, organza, and Chantilly lace reflect the vulnerability of fresh blooms; each delicate on its own, but forms a beautiful and blushful reflection when carefully used.”
For the modern bride who loves to express her individuality, Amanda has created customisable options with detachable skirts that can be worn shimmering and translucent over a short, lacy sheath, or used to add fullness and glamour with layers of soft tulle. Colours are vibrant too, inspired by nature’s own palette of soft rose, lilac, and lavender, as well as more youthful and exuberant hues like teal and green. The dresses are beautifully textured, with layer upon layer of intricate detailing to complement and accentuate a bride’s personality and poise, without overpowering it. “Be it in the form of hand-made floral appliques, tonal colour beadings, or lace appliques, each element complements one another on the gowns, coming together harmoniously,” says Amanda.
“The “Hana” bride is a modern woman; one who is expressive and brave at heart,” says Amanda. With their beauty and grace and yet, at the heart of them, a spirit that is as vibrant as a flower waking to the sun, the Amanda Lee Weddings SS17 dresses offer brides a chance to bravely reveal their souls.
