Designer Feature: Galia Lahav Spring 2017
Galia Lahav presented her Spring 2017 couture collection Le Secret Royal, together with ready-to-wear bridal collection Gala No. 2, during New York Bridal Fashion Week a few days ago.
Hot off the runway, the latest couture collection by Galia Lahav is inspired by the royals and their dramatic tales of love throughout history. In signature Lahav, the wedding gowns are an effervescence of extravagant silhouettes, sexy plunging necklines and low backs, frothing fishtail trains and luxurious floral elements.
The designer’s signature sexy aesthetic is seen in the necklines, almost all of which are deep V necklines lined with sparkling crystals or feathered with pretty embroidery, or Galia Lahav’s brand of full sweethearts. Backs are low and edged with flattering floral lace that run into feminine cap sleeves. Fabrics are richly textured and shimmer with opulence.
Captivated by the romance of a stroll through a royal garden, the designer created artful floral arrangements that bloom, lifelike, upon the gowns. Silk tulle embroidery and Chantilly lace in beautiful floral patterns add luxurious and ornate texture to the gowns, while details like a majestic sheer cape or silk-buttoned corset bodice evoke a sense of medieval royalty. Galia Lahav has again designed a collection fit for a queen.
Also presented during New York Bridal Week was the GALA No. 2 collection, a luxury prêt-à-porter series for the modern bride. The ready-to-wear gowns are inspired by the serenity and beauty of Isola Bella, an island also known as The Pearl of the Ionian Sea.
Crafted in a warm palette with vintage lace, the collection gives off a sultry, bohemian vibe. The gowns’ sexy sheer insets and plunge necklines are balanced with earth tones, classic lace, and long lace sleeves. With French guipure lace and lightweight fabrics in more subdued mermaid and A-line silhouettes, the gowns are romantic with an organic feel, just how the modern bride likes it.
Galia Lahav is available internationally, and at The Proposal in Singapore.
