Maxine and Jyh Haur’s Starry Wedding in Suburbia Sentosa
Maxine and Jyr Haur celebrated their love story with an elegant navy and gold Starry, Starry Night wedding in Suburbia Sentosa.
Maxine Pagador, 27, Actuarial Analyst and Jyr Haur Tang, 36, Applications Engineer, tied the knot on 25 July 2015 under a canopy of fairy-light “stars”. Their navy, gold, and silver Starry, Starry Night wedding in Suburbia Sentosa was themed around the first night they met under a sky full of stars in Boracay.
How did the two of you meet?
Jyh Haur: We met on the beautiful island of Boracay in Philippines, while each of us was holidaying with our own group of friends. We met through common friends and we all ended up partying together the first night Maxine’s group arrived on the island. After that night, we kept bumping into each other throughout the whole trip despite Boracay being a big place with so many people!
What was the proposal like?
Maxine: He arranged a staycation at our favorite hotel at Sentosa Cove to supposedly celebrate our second year anniversary. He also created a Singapore Airlines e-ticket, a boarding pass, and a packing list which he sent to me a few days before the stay.
That night, we went for a celebratory dinner. After that, he proposed back at the hotel with a big balloon shaped like an engagement ring, then with the real one afterwards. It was very private, just the two of us.
What was your wedding theme inspired by?
Maxine: The theme was “Starry, Starry Night,” to relive the moments that night we first met, where we found ourselves alone by the beach and under the stars. Our colours were navy blue, silver and gold. We had fairy lights on the ceiling to portray the starry sky. Then we had glittery and galactic-inspired décor at our reception. We also hung star garlands in the trees in the garden where we had our solemnisation, as well as on the photobooth backdrop. We had a navy coloured cake, painted with twinkling stars. We also made small star-shaped cut-outs from glittery silver and gold paper, and sprinkled them on all the tables afterwards. The place was literally star-studded!
What was your wedding day like?
Jyh Haur: The day went by so fast! But it was really magical and intimate since it was a relatively small gathering of family and friends. Food and wine were excellent and everybody had a good time. After the wedding, we partied at New Asia Bar at Swissotel (it has a great view of the city!) with our closest friends, most of whom were there that night we first met.
Maxine: It was exactly how we wanted it to be!
Can you share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Maxine: There were many good memories from the wedding. For one, we had such a hard time popping the champagne! It took a few minutes and lots of hard work from the groom!
