Cheryl and Zhili’s Blush and Burgundy Wedding at W Singapore–Sentosa Cove
Moxie Fashion’s founder Cheryl wed her love Zhili in a blush and burgundy wedding at W Singapore–Sentosa Cove.
Cheryl Ho, 24, Founder of Moxie Fashion and Koh Zhili, 26, Project Executive tied the knot on 15 October 2016 in a beautiful blush, burgundy, and gold wedding that hinted at the aristocratic luxury of old French chauteaux. A lover of fashion, Cheryl had her unconventional wedding gown custom-designed by Bridal Veil by Michelle HuiMin, wowing the 400 of their family and friends came together to celebrate their love in W Singapore – Sentosa Cove.
How did the two of you meet?
Cheryl: We met in NUS during our freshman orientation, and through the thick books and the thinning hair caused by stress, our bond grew stronger and we found complementary personalities in each other.
What’s one of the things you love most about your partner?
Zhili: I love Cheryl for her steeliness underneath that soft façade.
Cheryl: I love how Zhili always prioritises me above all else.
What was the proposal like?
Zhili: I planned for it to happen on a cruise, knowing Cheryl’s penchant for the sea, and anything ocean-related. I wanted to do it at the bow of the cruise ship, in Titanic fashion. So on the excuse of viewing the sunset, I brought Cheryl to the bow and told her I wanted to take a silhouette photo of her back facing me. When she turned back, I was on one knee and then she said yes!
Cheryl: We chose a colour theme of ivory, blush pink, and burgundy with hints of champagne gold. We wanted to convey a sense of regality and discreet luxury like the older French chateaus.
Our bridesmaids helped to DIY some of the decoration for our album table. As for the larger props, we ordered them from vendors like Ektory because we didn’t want to trouble our wedding party as they all have full-time jobs.
My gown design was something that I had always known I wanted; not one to follow trends, I envisioned an unconventional ball gown with lace sleeves and a high-low dress with a long train. I communicated that to Michelle HuiMin from Bridal Veil and she delivered more than I could ever ask for. She indulged my unique demands and saw it as a challenge for herself too. It was fun working with her.
What was your wedding day like?
Zhili: Our wedding day was hectic despite us pre-empting all the different possible scenarios. The dinner itself was the cause of all the chaos; where there were last minute no shows and last minute plus one additions that drove our banquet chef crazy. We could only truly enjoy ourselves after midnight, when the last guests have left. It was definitely a memorable experience, but if we could choose, we would definitely have wanted to have a smaller one with close friends and immediate family members only.
Can you share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Cheryl: The most memorable moment was the recital of our wedding vows. It was one of those times where mere words can move people to tears. Nothing beats heartfelt words spoken with love, about love.
Can you tell us the cost of your wedding, and your number of guests?
Zhili: In all, it was around $130,000. We had about 400 guests that day.
