Designer Feature: The Lover By Love, Yu

Local bridal and occasion gown label, Love, Yu unveils their latest collection, The Lover, and shares more about the inspiration behind the label and collection.

Fueled by her passion and interest in creating classic and timeless gowns, founder and designer Eelyn Tang started Love, Yu in 2009. Her initial creations were mainly cocktail and evening pieces but later branched out to designing wedding gowns after receiving requests from friends to create gowns for their big day.

Eelyn draws inspiration from all around her – from women whom she’s inspired by to the latest couture and street fashion. Although every collection of hers is inspired by a different element, they bear Love, Yu’s signature touches – modern silhouettes, a beautiful blend of fabrics such as silk, fine french and tulle, and trademark tulle ruched detailing on their gowns.

These trademark elements are evident in her latest bridal collection, The Lover. Dedicated to the hopeless romantics, lovers and dreamers, and inspired by the most romantic city in the world, Paris, the collection features soft hues of nude and ivory and relaxed silhouettes in luxurious lace, silk and tulle.

It’s difficult not to fall in love with every gown in The Lover, with whimisical names like Snow and Odette, dreamy lace and tulle detailing and classic silhouettes that will withstand the waves of trends throughout time.

A parting word of advice from Eelyn: “When visiting a bridal boutique, always try on different silhouettes to find out which complements you the best. To make the best out of your visit, remember to go with just a handful of companions to avoid being confused by their comments and suggestions,” Eelyn recommends. “Last but not least, it’s not about what is in trend now, but what you feel most comfortable in and reflects your personality the most.”
