Achieve Clear And Dewy Skin With Pain-free Extractions!

Once a month, I put myself through a painful blackhead extraction process. But I’ve discovered a pain-free solution, and you should read more if, like me, you tear at the thought of your next facial.

I arrived at the Bella Skin Care outlet at Tampines Junction, and was immediately led to a room, where I asked the consultant to explain the new AquaDew Pro treatment.

All of Bella’s treatments are personalised to suit the individual needs of their clients. For the AquaDew Pro treatment, the main leads are the three formulated three serums, namely the All Skin Types, the Antiseptic, and the Antioxidant, and they aim to deep cleanse, pamper and rejuvenate skin during the treatment.

The All Skin Types Serum is suitable for almost any skin type with the exception of hyper-sensitive and acne-prone skin. The key ingredients in this serum are lactic acid, algae extract, glucosamine HCL, yeast extract and green tea extract, which aids in detoxifying, calming, and improving skin elasticity. I suppose this would be good for those who have generally good skin and want to maintain it on a regular basis.

The Antiseptic Serum is targeted at oily and acne-prone skin, and contains tea tree extract, BHA salicylic acids, honey extract and spiraea ulmaria extract, which help in the reduction of breakouts, the lightening of acne marks, and the softening of skin. I asked if anyone with acne-prone skin can try this treatment, and this serum was the answer. Because of the ingredients used, the treatment, even with its mild exfoliating effects, will not aggravate any existing issues, and may even help with deep cleansing and help clear the skin for a longer period of time.

The serum that was recommended for my skin condition, which was dry on the outside with oily skin on the T-zone, was the Antioxidant Serum. It contains aloe vera juice, hyaluronic acid, green tea extract, vitamins B5 and E, and rosemary leaf extract to combat free radicals and provide long lasting hydration.

Before my treatment started, my therapist gave me a hand massage and even proceeded with a warm paraffin wax. I have never done a hand paraffin before, nor have I ever heard of any other beauty spas providing this additional service, so I was pleasantly surprised.

The serum was introduced to my skin through the Aqua Spiral Tip from the AquaDew Pro machine, which is unique designed in a spiral shape with tiny abrasive edges. This means that the skin is exfoliated several times as the tip is moved over the skin in a gliding motion during the application of the serum. Spiral vortex technology and pneumatic pressure are also employed in this treatment—big words, but it just means that the spiral tips and the massaging aid in the dislodging of impurities such as blackheads, and promote lymphatic drainage to eliminate stagnant fluids and toxins.

After the timed massaging with the machine ended, the therapist then went on to manual blackhead extraction, which is the most hated part of my monthly facials. Oh, the pain! But this time, it was a relatively pain-free process, as the earlier exfoliation has helped bring all the impurities to the surface. I saw how the therapist was able to easily extract my white- and blackheads, especially those on my cheeks, without any tools. Of course, it will take a few more sessions before my T-zone can be cleared from all the pesky stuff, but I was pretty chuffed at the results. And no more tearing from the pain!

For at least three days after the session, the laugh lines bracketing my mouth disappeared and I felt a suppleness and radiance on my skin. My therapist did say that with regular treatments, I could achieve “K-pop star” dewiness and an even skin tone with minimised pores. Now that sounded really enticing, but what sealed the deal was the almost pain-free blackhead extraction.
