Lanny and Henry were set up by mutual friends three years ago and ever since then, they’ve been inseparable. After an intimate, heartfelt proposal, they decided to tie the knot in an elegant rustic outdoor solemnisation at Cafe Melba – the very place they had their third date at – surrounded by their loved ones.

What was your planning like?

We took a total of eight months to plan a DIY rustic garden party themed solemnisation at Cafe Melba. Since my best friends and I were graphic artists, we did everything ourselves. I did the invitation cards and photo album while the tree and table decorations, including the floral arrangements, were done by my best friends.

Walk us through that very day you said “I do” to the man of your dreams.

Despite the heavy rain in the afternoon, we couldn’t wipe the smile off our faces the entire day whenever we thought about getting married. Thankfully, ten minutes before the ceremony began, the rain stopped and we got married under the tree with a double rainbow over us. It was simply beautiful.

It must have been such a memorable day for you both.

Indeed! We felt so loved by our family and friends that day! Their thoughtful gestures, such as preparing some food and drink for us while we were busy taking photos and catching up with our family and friends, touched our hearts deeply. We were glad that they enjoyed the day as much as us, revelling in the sparklers and bubbles, and hanging their well-wishes for us on the tree.
