Designer Feature: Berta Fall 2016
BERTA’s Fall 2016 collection isn’t meant for the princess bride. The sexy silhouettes and luxurious fabrics were designed for royalty in mind. So read more if your wedding is nothing short of a queenly affair in a beautifully decorated ballroom.
Seated at The Grand Ballroom at The Plaza Hotel and taking in the grandeur of the venue for the BERTA‘s Fall 2016 runway, I knew the collection would be a dramatic one. Deep, plunging neck lines, barely-there nettings on the waists, sheer illusion panels with intricate embroidery, shimmery beaded trains and capes… it was a decadent show where models walked to music from Lana Del Ray and Lorde.

All beaded lace gown, plunging neck line, capped sleeves and deep open backThe collection still showcases Berta’s signature silhouettes and designs, but with the clever use of Guipure lace appliqués on delicate sheer fabrics, so you get strong elegant lines with a lot of sensuality. I love the idea of the detachable overskirt as well, so you can have two different looks for the day of the wedding. To top it all off, each model was sent down the runway with jewelled crowns from Maria Elena Headpieces and Accessories, and they looked perfect with the gowns.

Designer Berta with her modelsThere’s a certain glamour to this Fall 2016 collection. If a deep V bodice isn’t enough for you, the gowns also have shoulder-to-shoulder keyhole cut-outs on the back, as well as tulle fishtails and chiffon capes. If you’re determined to shine your way down the aisle, there is an abundance of pearl accents on antique silver embroidery and embellished capped sleeves. Who says you can’t have sheer, sexy and shiny on one gown and get away with it?
