DIY Tutorial: Giant Paper Flowers
Make these pretty giant paper flowers in double-quick time with our simple DIY tutorial! Big and whimsical, these lovely handmade flowers are adorable in the hands of your flower-girls, bridesmaids, or make beautiful table centerpieces to help love bloom at your wedding.
You’ll need:
- Coloured crepe paper
- Large floral stem
- Clear tape or floral tape
- Glue
- Scissors
- Petal template
Time taken each: 30 minutes
Average cost each: $3
Step 1: Cut out a strip of crepe paper about 10 inches long and 2 inches wide. We chose gold to make a nice contrast against our lilac petals. Fold it and cut strips down half the width.
Step 2: Apply glue to one end of the strip, and wrap around the floral stem. Glue to secure in place.
Step 3: Print and cut out the petal templates. Using the template as a guide, cut out petals from your crepe paper. We used gold crepe paper to cut out three small petals and lilac to cut out about 15 each of both sizes.
Tip: Folding the crepe paper in accordion folds first allows you to cut multiple petals at a time!
Step 4: Wrap three gold petals around the flower’s center and tape to secure.
Step 5: Wrap on a few layers of the medium petals, taping to secure each petal. Try to arrange each layer so that the petals alternately overlap, instead of taping a petal directly behind another petal.
Step 6: Now add on the larger petals, until your flower reaches the desired size.Your giant paper flower is ready for some whimsical fun! They make great table centrepieces, and look gorgeous in the hands of your flower girls and bridesmaids.
