While wedding gown shopping should be as fuss-free and enjoyable as possible, there are bound to be some hair-pulling moments during your search for the perfect gown, especially when you can’t decide or figure out which silhouette fits you the best. To bring the fun back into your wedding gown shopping, we’ve put together a simple quiz to help you find the silhouette that best suits you based on your bridal personality.

Most brides fall into one of the five main categories of bridal personalities – romantic, vintage, timeless/classic, modern or fashionista. Chances are, you belong to at least one of those categories, and your bridal personality will determine which silhouette you should don for your big day. You are a Modern bride if you answered 1 for most of the questions. Modern brides are all about clean and classic silhouettes for that chic and sophisticated look. Sleek silhouettes that narrow at the waistline, skims the thighs and flares out at or below the knees like the trumpet or mermaid cut gowns are what suits you best. “The modern bride is a confident and empowered woman who is not afraid to show off her curves in celebration of her special day,” Jordan, founder of The Wedding Present, explains. “Hence, the mermaid silhouette is a perfect complement to her confidence, sensuality and sexuality.”

Mostly 2s… Romantic Bride

If you got mostly 2s for the questions, then you are a bona fide romantic bride. “Tulle and organza layered ballgowns and A-line gowns that narrows at the waist and flares out downwards are perfect for romantic brides,” Kim, founder and designer of Divine Couture, advises. “The fluffy tulle and organza layers create a dreamy and ethereal look reminiscent of Disney princesses.” Be inspired by the romantic gowns in Monique Lhuillier’s Fall Bridal Collection 2014 and up the romance factor by getting a gown in pastel colours like blush or mint.

Mostly 3s… Vintage Bride

If you answered 3 for most of the questions, then you are a vintage bride. You draw your inspiration from television dramas and films like Pride and Prejudice, Mad men, The Great Gatsby and Water for Elephants. “The empire silhouette is a loose-fitting cut featuring a a higher waistline just beneath the bust with a seam which falls away to the floor, giving brides that vintage mood they are after,” Jit, founder and designer of Silverlining Bridal Couture, recommends. Depending on which period of vintage look you’re after, full-laced, loose-fitting gowns and ones with flared out skirts are other viable vintage wedding looks. Complete the look with a Juliet cap for your very own Pride and Prejudice wedding, or opt for pin-curl hair and a birdcage veil to channel your inner Great Gatsby.

Mostly 4s… Fashionista Bride

Now, if you answered mostly 4s for most of the questions, nothing less than a couture wedding gown will satisfy the fashionista bride in you. Mostly 5s… Timeless/Classic Bride

You are a timeless/classic bride if you answered 5 for most of the questions. Timeless brides are sticklers for tradition, be it family, wedding or fashion traditions.
