A Superhero Wedding
We got our first glimpse of Emily and Chia How’s fun wedding in our Most Memorable Moment Photo Contest on Facebook last December. They went on to be one of the four lucky couples who received a Real Weddings feature in addition to a $200 dining voucher to W Singapore – Sentosa Cove. This bubbly couple started out as colleagues back in 2007, but soon saw each other in a different light after going for the movie, Bolt, together. What started out as a platonic friendship between two colleagues quickly grew into romantic interest as Emily Peng, 28, Business Analyst and Chan Chia How, 34, Developer got to know each other better and bonded over their common love of watching movies. Watch this pair of fun-loving lovebirds plan an original wedding where Batman, Wonderwoman and other superheroes gatecrashes on 28 September 2013.
What was your proposal like?
It was completely unexpected and surprising for me. In 2011, Chia How took part in a 16km Adidas run and I was there to cheer him on. Out of the blue, he ran towards me, knelt down and proposed to me in mid-race! I was overjoyed and utterly shocked at the same time!
Tell us about your actual day!
Everything went really well and according to plan! My brother skyped me during the gatecrashing and I got to watch the whole process. It was super fun! Due to our mutual love for movies, we wanted a movie related theme for our big day. So we decided to go for a superhero theme in the morning and got our sisters and brothers to dress up as different superheroes. For the night celebrations, we opted for an old Hollywood style, keeping our decorations mainly to black, white and red colours.
We heard you were really pleased with your wedding gown that Jawn.Happy.Ever.After custom-designed for you. Tell us more!
After a few trips to different bridal boutiques without seeing the gown I wanted for my big day, I decided to custom-make one instead. I chanced upon Jawn.Happy.Ever.After and after reading many favourable reviews on SingaporeBrides’ forum, I decided to pay them a visit. I was really impressed with Euzart’s designs and creativity, and was especially taken with his suggestion of combining my favourite elements of the different gowns I had in mind. All thanks to him, I was able to wear my wedding gown short during my ROM and add a long train to the gown for my march-in.
What did your family and friends have to say about your wedding?
They were really impressed with our wedding, especially with the pre-wedding video and the instant print photos taken during the cocktail session and dinner banquet.
