Ombré Weddings at the Waterfront
There’s a bit of something for everyone in the middle of the year – school-going children look forward to their mid-year holidays while brides-to-be flock to the many wedding showcases in preparation of their big day, like the one held recently at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore.
The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore is a luxury hotel overlooking the historic Singapore River conveniently located within reach of the Central Business District and the waterfront precincts of Robertson Quay, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. Soon-to-be-wed couples were invited to enjoy the elegant splendour of Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore during their wedding showcase, Ombré Weddings at the Waterfront on 9 June 2013.
Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore’s largest ballroom, the Grand Ballroom, was where all the wedding action took place. The column-free ballroom was the stage for Sattine Bridal Couture’s inspiring fashion show. Models paraded around the ballroom in their latest collection of bridal and evening gowns, allowing the ladies in the room a closer look at the details of the gowns. The Grand Ballroom has a maximum seating capacity of 650 and features a six-metre high ceiling and a large, elegant glass wall that allows in natural tropical light and showcases a stunning view of a landscaped garden and gazebo.
Aside from the Grand Ballroom, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore has 3 other ballrooms – the Waterfront Ballroom, Riverfront Ballroom and the Galleria Ballroom with the seating capacities of 280, 200 and 160 respectively. Couples had the opportunity to view wedding table set-ups in each of these ballrooms during their tour of the hotel’s premises. All ballrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems to fulfill every bride’s dream wedding. Smaller venues such as the beautiful and modern wedding chapel, Paradiso, and the Promenade are perfect for more intimate wedding receptions and solemnisations, and even a sit-down dinner under the stars.
Couples adjourned to the spacious hallway outside the Grand Ballroom after Sattine Bridal Couture’s bridal fashion show for a delightful buffet spread prepared by the hotel’s finest chefs. Shades of green dominated the buffet spread and decorations with fluffy pom-poms dangling whimsically overhead along the hallway and a dessert table filled with a variety of sweets in tiffany green. Couples did not have to wander far to meet with the afternoon’s participating wedding vendors as they were situated along the hallway and within eyesight of the buffet spread. A flash mob dance by the hotel signaled the end of the afternoon’s entertainment and left everyone in much delight and surprise.
Instead of the mandatory lucky draw, a photo contest for the best-looking couple was held and the winning couple would walk away with a night’s stay in a Club room inclusive of breakfast for two. Couples also stood a chance of winning additional perks such as cash rebates, a 3D2N stay at the Millennium Resort (Phuket) including return air tickets for two and much more in a sure-win lucky dip when they confirm a booking that afternoon.
