A Day At The Spa For Valentine’s Day
Busy planning your wedding and spring cleaning for the Lunar New Year at the same time? Then, a quick glance at the calendar and you realise, gasp! Valentine’s Day is coming up right after! Wedding planning and festivities can be so stressful, you feel you can hardly breathe. You will be gorging on those sinful goodies on offer at every home next week to assuage some of those nail-biting seating arrangement issues, or maybe, to reward yourself for a home well-cleaned, but oh no! You can’t! You’re on a diet and marathon Mahjong sessions are not going to help tone those arms! Oh, is it too late to book a table at your favourite restaurant on February 14?
Take a deep breath. Hold it for five seconds. Now slowly let it out.
If you’re having a minor anxiety attack, it’s time to step away from whatever you’re doing, and do some breathing exercises. When you have sufficiently calmed down, book yourself and your partner (Yes, guys. You too.) a spa treatment from our recommendations below. Everyone deserves a day at the spa, and Valentine’s Day is just the perfect excuse, even if it’s going to be a belated surprise.
The Editor’s Pick: Damai Spa at Grand Hyatt Singapore
I was invited to experience Damai’s new signature 60-minute body treatment, which incorporates the luxurious June Jacobs Spa Collection range of products, which is exclusively available at Damai. Based on high concentrations of carefully selected botanical and plant extracts, this new collection aims to soothe and restore tired minds and bodies.
For 60 minutes, my body, hands and feet were enveloped in a warm oil of skin-softening papaya enzyme, and kneaded into submission. I have always had tight knots in my upper back, and my therapist found them almost immediately. I loved how she knew exactly where to apply pressure and where to be gentle, so you can feel your tensed muscles begin to relax, and your skin, amazingly, feels pampered as well.
I have to say, the end of my 60 minutes came too soon. If I were you, I’d go for the 90-minute treatment. And the 90-minute facial. And hop into the sauna for a bit after that. There’s just something about the treatment rooms in Damai that is so calming for the mind, you really don’t want to leave. This wasn’t my first time at Damai, and it won’t be my last.
Price: $158 (60-minute body treatment), $195 (90-minute body treatment), $168 (60-minute facial), $195 (90-minute facial)
