Make Mine Chartreuse
I’d like to open this year on an optimistic note.
So let’s take a look at what we have done in the past year. 2011 was a fantastic year for SingaporeBrides.com. In January 2011, we relaunched our Websitewith a cool new look, together with our brand new Articlessection. Since then, we have published 149 articles on beauty, wedding essentials, fashion, venues, home and travel, photography and videography, our couples’ real weddings, tips for the groom, and most importantly, wedding and relationship articles.
We also gave our Directorya freshening up, so it is more comprehensive and our wedding vendors now each have a page of their own to showcase their products and services. Our readers can now navigate within our site and find all the information they need without having to look too far, from bridal boutiques to pre-wedding and actual day photographers and videographers, to wedding banquet venues and make-up artistes. Many of you even discovered our guide on registering your marriage from our ROM guide.
In 2011, we also revamped our Fashionsite. You can now see all our wedding fashion shoots, current and otherwise, at a glance. We’ve made it more interactive by enabling clickable links to more details for each bridal gown you see. Simply click on a dress and information points will appear. Our fashion site is also viewable on iPhones, iPads, and all other smart phone devices. If you think that’s all SingaporeBrides.com can offer, you are hugely mistaken. *wink*
Our readers have also joined us on our Facebook Pageand Twitter, and I’d like to thank all of you for staying with us all this while, even after many of you have begun on a beautiful journey as a wife and a husband. We will keep coming up with contests, giveaways and surprises by way of thanking all of you for your support.
Outside of SingaporeBrides.com, 2011 has been a harsh year for some and there are signs that 2012 will be a trying one. Even our favourite celebrity couples Demi and Ashton, and even Katy and Russell (!), have gotten on the divorce bandwagon. But a wedding will always be a happy occasion and SingaporeBrides.com will always be a happy place. Because we need an extra bolt of optimism this year, our opening colour theme for 2012 will be chartreuse.
Is chartreuse a yellow or a green, you ask? I say it is a wondrous blend of two very cheerful and bold colours. The term “chartreuse” originated from an aromatic liqueur, usually yellow or green, made by Carthusian monks at La Grande Chartreuse, France, in 1865.Studies show that these two colours can cause an increase in the body’s metabolism and the release of serotonin, the feel-good chemical. They also enhance our focus, which is perhaps why highlighters and legal pads were originally a greenish-yellow colour. Lady Gaga did say in her “Marry The Night” music video that she believes “mint will be very big in fashion next Spring”, but I’m greedy and I want two colours.
It is going to be a busy year for us, as we continue to improve on our site and bring you more information for your wedding planning needs. It will also be an exciting year for a lot of you, since the Lunar New Year will come early this year, and the Year of the Dragon is excellent for weddings and engagements. Here are some Auspicious Datesfor you, in case you need more persuasion. If you have any suggestions and questions for us on wedding planning, or anything at all, you can reach me at [email protected].
Here’s to a fabulous new year for all newly-weds and the newly-engaged, and promise me you will have a happy, happy 2012.
XOXO,
Michelle Tay
