Get the Midas Touch with Gold Bridal Make-up
Apparently, gold is the new black this season. Here are six ways you can wear this versatile colour for your wedding.
Other than making a re-entrance into the jewellery market in sexy styles, gold has also gleamed brightly down the runways in the recent Fashion Week in New York, Paris, London and Milan. Gold make-up gives a brightening effect that can liven up even the dullest complexion. But like all things that are too good for us, use this colour sparingly.
Festive occasions such as the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, and end-of-the-year weddings are the perfect time to use gold makeup; a sheen of gold on the body or face is a gorgeous look for everyone. If you’re going to be wearing a simple, Goddess-style gown for your wedding, this will be a stunning look for you.
When it comes to make-up, less is definitely more. Unless you’re going for a “Showgirl” theme, gold eye shadow paired with gold glitter eyeliner and gold lips is a no-go. Pick one or two parts of the face or body, and strictly limit the shimmer to those areas only. Also, don’t use gold makeup with silver clothes or accessories unless you’re going for a costume party as a statue.
Those of you with dry skin can use a shimmering liquid or solid stick product, while oily skin works best when dusted with an illuminating loose or pressed powder, as we’ll feature here. Your make-up artist will also tell you that the gold highlights can be applied to the décolletage, the centre of the forehead, down the bridge of the nose, and over the shoulders for a glowing effect.
