Zoo/Bird Park

Just had our wedding there...
a short review...
staff was friendly and co-ordinators helpful
kudos to Tara and Boon Heng...
Place was wonderfully decorated by Steffi's
and the treetops room for tea ceremony was good.
Food was ok but the desserts got 2 thumbs up from guests...
all in all... a v. good place to get married...

hi arnold,u had a small tea reception,is it? May i know roughly how much u spent? Cos i'm having my solemnisation at the Lodge next mth and alittle worried of overspending

Hi Arnord,

I'm attending a wedding fair at the zoo in Oct 05. Just want to find out from you if your wedding is lunch or dinner? cos looking from the website, it seems more appropriate for lunch (cos all photos taken in the day). I would luv to do it for dinner. But afraid all the animals and birds will be sleeping in the evening

not having my banquet there but just wanted to say it is a beri refreshing idea

have fun !

feel that Zoo is a nice place for wedding....wonder is it an outdoor or indoor ? Visit the website.... seems to haf a resturant there.

Arnord, wht is the cost like? reasonable if we were to hold wedding dinner there? up to how many tables? =)

hi

I used to work there so, some advice for those interested. Place is nice and natural. However, do take note of problems with logistics. Many of the guests may like and think it's refreshing but they would think it is far. Ang baos collected may not be big amount! haha..

Place is not air-conditioned so abit warm esp. for bride & groom who wore suits etc. Some guests may also be irritated. Therefore, glam factor's not there. Surroundings are quiet and extremely dark.

There are limited tables, therefore it's a small to medium size affair. You have to fork out for tentage, f&b, tram rides , additional lamps/lights, fans, tables & chairs, etc.

hope the above info is useful

nelle

hi Arnold,

can you share with me more info about your banquet? i am considering to have my banquet in Birdpark.
which package did you pick? do you need to top up for additional deco?

it would be great if you can share some of your AD pictures with me.

[email protected]

thank you soooo much!!!

HI Otter,
I am keen but difficult to get the sales team. . How's the service?

Must guests pay for entrance? The menu don't look too good. Any comments?

Hi Otter

How was your wedding? Was the food good? I am thinking of having dinner buffet for my guests. When you took their package did they offer you any additional perks? Can you share your wedding pics with me plss... thank you. [email protected]

Hiya Ebell
Call them at 63608500. Is not difficult at all to get the sales team. Apparently they have package and the entrance fee is free.

Jessica: Ya got them in the end but taking a v long time to get back to us. Dunno why. They r oki so far and q accomodating but abit slow at times. Maybe bz.

U getting married there?

I thought of holding my wedding at the zoo, but my mom commented that not many people will turn up because of the location.
Those who held it there or planning to hold it there, what are your views? Kindly share with me.
Thanks in advance =)

I thinking having my wedding in Birdpark. Anyone to share their exprience with me? They do provide transport from JW or Boon Lay to there.

hi Dory & Esther,

I suppose it's perfectly fine to hold the wedding at either of the locations, esp if u're one who like the lush settings & sthg different fr the ballroom settings in a hotel

U're prob right tt it might be inconvenient.. But if the guests u invite are really close to u & want to bless your wedding with their presence, distance or inconvenience wld usually not be an issue. Cabs are easily available, so those who truly want to witness ur happiest day, may encounter some difficulties, but will find ways to sort tt prob out

hi bladers,

I think both places now have some nice function room tt has full length glass windows which allow guests to enjoy nature

At the end of the day, it wld depend on the couple's preference & the intended theme for their wedding. Sometimes some couples choose such natural settings to reflect their love for nature

Are u also considering such a venue?

I like the place a lot, but now after my MIL caculation we might need to have at least 45 tbls so the birdpark will be out of list. So sad, thought can have a special venue either than hotel.

HI all,

Had my wedding at the zoo. I took the deluxe package and booked both the garden for holy matrimony and the ballroom for dinner. Was to come on the carriage but it rained. However, the staff was v efficient and professional . Despite the v last minute "hiccup", the rest of the evening was perfect. Many of my guest commented that our wedding was the best they have attended. The food was excellent and the coordinator William Wong was just so professional tat all out guest were praising him and his team.

Despite the rain, I would hav no regrets at all for choosing the zoo. It was beautiful and unique. especially with our live band, hanging foto gallery,MTVs and many special items by our lived ones. It was a nite with tears, joy and laughter.

The zoo if u ask me...especially with close frens and relatives...perfect

Ebell

Not sure if you are still checking this thread. I am inviting only close friends and relatives and thought of getting the deluxe package. As the Zoo has already been booked for dinner, I have to do a lunch because we do not want to change the date.

However, we are quite disappointed by the menu for lunch buffet sent by William. The food items that they are offering doesn't seem to justify the price that they are charging.

Just wanted to hear more comments from those who have had their weddings at the Zoo already.

Tabo,
I am not sure abt the lunch package but my dinner package was v gd. Alot of pple tot it was value for $. I Actually did change some stuff but have to be fair too cannot ask for too much but William v v accomodating. Alot of guest still raving about the food.

Will it be hot in the afternoon?

Hi ebell,

wondering if u still check on this thread..i am planning for a wedding banquet next yr..do u mind sharing ur pics with me to let me have an idea on their decor and etc...many thanks...

my email addie is : [email protected]

HI miss bean,
William or even Vanessa (the florist) will be able to show u the pixs. os they have alot of themes. When I went to view the place, there was a wedding that used monkeys as their main decor, impressive. If u wan a memorable wedding at the zoo, make sure it isnt just the v come and eat then go type, have programmes, make it speacial else pple will think of it was travel so far for yet another wedding. My frens r still talking abt our wedding

Hi,

Was wondering if you guys still follow this thread. But I am keen on having my wedding at the Zoo or Birdpark. Anyone have had their Dinner at these 2 locations?

Hi Sleepyees,

I've just visited the Birdpark today as I am also considering it as a wedding venue. Simple love the Flamingo Lake! But the person did recommend that we get our own wedding planner instead. Have you visited the place?

hi,
planning to hold my wedding in the zoo. appreciate if anyone can send me their wedding pics and package. thanks.

[email protected]

can i also check if we can negotiate or change items in the package?

for zoo, there are both outdoor and indoor.

Outdoor wld be Pavilion by the Lake while indoor wld be Forest Lodge.

You can email the zoo catering service for more information. Right now, there is a wedding fair at Vivocity where Zoo is a participating merchant...

Dear all,

My partner and I had a site visit at Zoo recently. We like the Forest Lodge as it is the only indoor and aircon area and there is a bridal room next to it.

If you walk from the Tram station, there is a tentage outside the lodge and behind it, is a koi pond. Veri beautiful...

But when we enter the aircon room, there are a few visitors sitting and resting inside. However we were told that they will arrange some staffs to guard outside the lodge to stop outsiders from going in and will put a "Private Function" sign on the actual day.

Went to visit the 2 outdoor venues also, the "Garden with a View" has a beautiful scenery, however the place is quite small after "Ah Meng" was buried there, besides her is a small durian tree (Ah Meng's fav food). Her statue is along the pavement while her body was a small distance away from it. If people dont know, they may just step onto the poor "Ah Meng", which I find we dont respect her.

The other outdoor location "Pavilion By The Lake", a peaceful place but quite warm during the afternoon, night time may be cooling and you can only see fans around the pavilion. I find that the place is quite isolated also, dont really like the place.

As for the menu, I think you all have to find out more from the catering staffs already. I only know they may change the menu by end of this year.

You can call them and arrange to have a site visit also, just like what we did. It's free anyway...I find that it's better for you all to go there and see personally, rather than to view from pictures..(Can really see the different..because the pictures they show in the album, you dont see the koi pond and "Ah Meng")...

Hope these informations can help those who wants to hold their wedding or solemnization there.

All the best...Cheers...

If I am not mistaken, "Garden with a View" is only available for solemnization, not available to host guests for lunch or dinner.

Opps...Ya. Sorry, Thks for reminding, porsche...Hee..Pai sey..
Anyway I find the venue is nice n beautiful but the space too small liao.
Btw, have u decided to hold ur wedding there? Which venue do u prefer?

we are planning to rom at garden with a view. Not taking the lunch or dinner package.

Who did u liaise with?

We spoke to Desi, quite a new staff there but veri friendly gal. Actually we suppose to meet Kelvin but he's on leave tat day so Desi take over.
She told us there may be a mock wedding this coming sun and will infd us once confirm.
So who's the staff in charge of urs?

I'll be having my solemnization at the Bird Park in Oct. Took the buffet lunch package, it certainly is not cheap. =P

april: haha... agreed that zoo and bird park packages are not cheap...its probably for the experience and ambience...

Yeah, I'm totally in love with birds therefore choose that place. The price come up to $150 per pax after GST. My guests nearly faint hearing the price. Hehe!! But I love the idea of having a flying ring bearer.
