Wedding Banquet before CNY

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums but it has given me much advice on preparing for my wedding so far, so thanks so much everyone!

I'm intending to hold my wedding banquet in Jan 2017, 2 weeks before chinese new year. Are there any downsides to this? I've heard that the portions at the wedding banquet could be smaller since food prices would be more expensive, can anyone relate?

I think is not advisable to do before CNY. The guest will be unhappy to attend the wedding as usually they will want to prepare their own cny matters.
