Vegetarian banquet

Hi all,
I am veg, I insist on full veg for all guests, but fiance rejected. We had a big conflict. I wish to have a great veg wedding dinner to impress the non-veg guests and provide a chance for them to try out veg food. Any advice?

Hi all,

jus to share, i'll be having my banquet at Orchard Parade Hotel next year. Our venue is in a ballroom of that hotel. they actually invited Lingzhi resturant chef and crew to come over to prepare the vege banquet for us. To us, we feel the importance of letting our guests to taste delicious vege dishes too! hence this package really suits us in terms of food and banquet space

Hi Lingyang. My husand-to-be is a veggie and I'm not. I feel that you could probably put yourself in our shoes

though I admit that veggie can at times taste good.

I too do not wish to have a wedding dinner with only veg for all my guests.. and well, we compromise with one another.

Hi Lingyang,

i really empathise with your situation. Not everybody can appreciate reasons for having a full vege banquet because of the misconception that vege banquets are "cheaper". well they are so wrong. for alot of people, vege food means "lower class" and the idea of having shark's fin, chicken, whole fishes, seafood etc during a wedding banquet depicts class and status. if a full vege banquet is not possible because of differing opinions between urself and hubby and family, what about half a banquet?

just would like to share also my experience of a full vege banquet held at Grand Hyatt in Dec 09. the menu was specially designed because we didn't quite like the original vege menu provided. it felt too "zi cha" for us. we met with the chef and the coordinator, who later crafted a superfabulous semi-fine-dining menu. i was impressed during the food tasting, and on my AD, my banquet guests were pleasantly surprised with the food and entire ambience. the feedback provided by our guests was that the food was good, portion was good and it even looked rather like fine-dining for some dishes.

conclusion: i think the full vege dinner we had at Hyatt gave a big slap to ppl who had remarked to us that we had chosen vege cos they think it is "cheaper", and asked if this meant they could give us lesser angbao money. and i think there would also be some ignorant ppl who would still believe this is so even after looking at the kinds of vege food served, and give u angbao amount based on their ignorant view of vege food. so be prepared k.

last but not least... wedding preps must be a happy occasion for both u and ur fiance... don't let such complications spoil the happiness of the occasion for you...

Hi all,

Anyone know which hotel provide the good vegetarian banquet and can attended by the monks & nun? Except the Quality & Orchard Parade hotel, got other choices? Thanks...

Hi Star7882,

I had my full Vegetarian Banquet at Hyatt. It was semi-fine dining style and the menu was specially crafted. We requested to speak with the Chef before the wedding and he crafted the menu for us. I also invited 1 table of monks and nuns and they enjoyed the food, or so they tell me.

I thought i would not be able to find anything. I have the task to convince my family to go with my htb choice of vegetarian options even though I am not. Really want to make my htb happy since it is our wedding and i personally do agree with him after he told me that he doesnt want to sacrifice any lifes because of his wedding as it is suppose to be a joyous occasion.. so I gave in..

And my htb even mangaged to engage a wedding photographer for our wedding who is vegetarian and he gives special perks to couples who take shark fins out of their banquet menus. lol

hello,

i would also like to find out different venues to a full vegetarian wedding banquet. The more options the merrier.

i am worried about the quality/taste of food and also the nice atmosphere of the venue.

looking at holding my wedding dinner end of year 2013.

Help. My fiancé is insistent on a vege buffet (we don't like banquets) although he isn't a vegetarian. His reason is to minimise killing. Problem is, my father does not want that. He has been a meat eater all his life, and so are the relatives he's inviting. He is also very 爱é¢å and traditional, and don't want the relatives to gossip. I feel sandwiched in the middle between these two men whom I love, and I don't want our relations to sour just because of this. There is no meaning in celebrating if everyone is unhappy. Any advice from experienced folks?
