Hi!

Am looking for a standard US west coast tour package (LA, SF, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon etc).. 12 to 15 days for end of this year.

I heard that CTC is very reputable and so is Chan Bros. Anybody has any experiences to share?

thanks.

Hi Guitar,

My husband & I are going for our honeymoon in US (SF,LA & LV) during end October. We have decided to package everything together ourselves (that's the fun of it, if you are the adventurous type!) Joining package tours means that there is no freeddom and everything has to be done on a group basis, I suppose the last thing you want during your honeymoon is to be restricted, that's why we decided to drive from SF to LA and then to LV. Also, the departure date may not coincide with your intended date. Think having only each other for company will be very enjoyable cos we can go to Golden Gate,Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, then drive along the beautiful freeway (think it's ??? miles) before going to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm etc etc, then Grand Canyon, Las Vegas... I am looking forward to this romantic escapade...
We can share any info on the US West Coast. Read up some books and sites and I am sure you will be very excited about your honeymoon....

Ger Ger, are you still on this forum?
I intend to do the same as you; care to share your experience?

Thanks!

cody, i m also planning for my honeymoon to either Hawaii cum USA West Coast or Europe. do you think it it safe to go America during this period?

i should be joining the group tour so as to save the hassle of driving. heard that SATour is quite good also. they are having a tour fair this sunday at suntec.

everafter: sure, why not? i think things are fated, so where ever you go, its all fate.
US or Europe, you never know...

I'll be going on free & easy self-drive, to SF, LV and LA.

Thanks.

Hi shinchan, I'll go with Chan Bros. CTC ran into complains b4 regarding package not same as what iternary listed. Was in news a couple of years ago.

Personally like Chan better. Better svc. Ananda always ignored me & my friends, maybe because we look like students so no $$$. SA's Q is very messy, while Chan is organised. Ctr svc also better at Chan, very attentive and friendly all the times I've been there.

Furthermore, SA packages always have optional tours that are mostly included in Chan's. One way to see it is that they let you have a choice, the other is that it's more extra $$.

So while Chan's iternary is more rush, it's actually cheaper compared to SA.

Been with SA twice, Chan 7 times already. But I dunno abt other agency though.

Itiernary wise all look similar, so it's the svc, AND, the pple in your grp (which is uncontrollable though

Hi Sinchan,

I had my HM in Western USA in late Nov'03, with SA Tours. Frankly, I think it is quite a waste of money & time to travel in USA with packaged tour cos we spent 4 days in total just 'travelling'. Coach bus drove us all the way from LA to SF. Was on the coach 30% of the time everyday, didn't really have much time to really enjoy the scenary and views there. Since you still have time, you may want to enquire doing Free & Easy in USA, so you still have the option to walk around the streets and catch a movie at the kodak theatre (Which we couldn't cos we had 44 pple in the group!). Was quite a nightmare with all the kids and since it was our honeymoon, yeah, it didn't turn out to be quite romantic as we wanted. However, it depends on your travel preference, whether you like the shopping experience or just taking your time to walk the streets.

But remember to buy lots of timerland at their factory outlets near Las V., so damn cheap!

i did my HM in western usa with Chan bros and agree with hippy that it's really a waste of time and NOT fun at all. u r rushed from place to place like sheeps, lots of time spent on the coach travelling to faraway places only to spend less than 1/2 hr there before driving back...a lot of pressure 'cos u don't want to be late and hold back the entire group...if you are unlucky, u'll be in the same group with some selfish idiots who'll always be late hence holding upt he entire group. i will recommend self drive if possible.

hi pple,
jus a note of advice, if u plan to drive durin this winter period, be extra careful cos u wil hav to pass thru' some of the smaller highways pass mountaineous areas which is snowin....when passin by these roads with snow, u wil hav to drive extra slow & dependin on the condition, u might hav to purchase the snow tire chain. In addition, some of these roads might closed due to heavy snow too so u might hav to take a detour to some other roads....

rite now, its rainy & foggy season in the west side (SF & LA)...Central CA jus had an earthquake & eastern CA had a mudslide near the popular Desert Hills outlet mall...

so when u decided to drive, check local weather conditions & surf the web for any add. info...

Silk Chua,
We had Chan Bros for USA package for our HM. It was a fun and worthwhile trip. The tour manager is very dedicated, knowledgeable and experience.

We wanted to book with Kenair initially. But was put off by the front desk sales staff. They provide very different info in just 1 week. So we have no confidence with them at all... Apparently I have heard that Kenair used to be very good at USA sector but not anymore after their bankruptcy incident... Maybe u can try to find out more.

My USA trip was from SA Tours. It was expensive (considering other agencies were offering same iteneries at $200-$300 less), but the entire trip was a thumbs up. The guide was fantastic, he took pains to line up at each & single ride for us at Disneyland for the fast pass so we didnt wait for than 10mins for all the popular rides. My fren who flew with another agency told us their day at Disney was a 'free' day, meaning they could roam as they wanted but they ended up only taking 2 rides cos they waited 2 hrs each for the rides. We covered 10 rides that day at a lesiure pace thanks to our guide.

I went with SA tour for my US trip. Same as elven_princess, got the same experience when in the DisneyLand, took quite a lot of rides, and balance time just leisurely exploring and walking around the park.

Hi Guys,

I have went to SA tour web site and found the hotel provided is only 1 star.. Apart from the Disneyland, how do you grade the other stuffs like timing, visiting of plcs etc....

I've bad experience with Cxx tour for 11 days USA package. We was told that the flight schedule to leave singapore in the morning upon making the 1st downpayment. It somehow turned out to be an evening flight when we're back for the full payment. Haizz, one day is gone.......

Is the 11 days USA package the one that can be extended to 14 days to cover Vancouver? I was at CTC travel fair yesterday and saw this 11 days package that I'm quite interested in. The staff told me departure is at 9.45am for SQ flight. Not sure if the package is the same as yours.

Other than the flight departure time, was the package ok?

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

We're considering a F&E honeymoon to SF only. Does anyone know if the tour agencies will have cheaper tickets? Thanks!
