Hi girls/guys
me and my girl will be going to tanjong pagar to look for gowns that will appeal to us(her) this coming Sat (26Jun10).
Was wondering if anyone of you could give us some advice on which BS to look at and which to avoid as we only have a few hours there :x

Mainly is to look at the gowns to see which shops has what we want, then will decide to ask for packages maybe via email then arrange for a meeting.

Understand from some posts that these were good (not only from tanjong pagar): The Aisle, Precious Moments Bridal, BlueBay and Julia

May i noe if PMB is at sin ming road?

Appreciate all responses.
Please post the full name and address as we are new to BS shopping :P
Thanks!

-Alvin

Hi!

Since u have shortlisted a few BS, why dont u take some time to visit these BS to experience for urself? From my BS hunting experience (been to 3-4 along tanjong pagar before confirming my BS), one is likely to stay in each BS for at least an hr.

Things u should look out for:
- Selections of gowns/suits to see if u like them
- Customer service to see if u feel comfortable with the BS as both of u will need to visit them quite often for PS, gown selection etc...
- The package and cost to see if whatever u need are included
- Request to try on one or two gowns to see its service too

Basically, I feel these are the important pointers one should look out for when shortlisting a BS. And, never ever be pressurized to sign on any package with a BS, with promotions like "if u sign on today, u'll get $xxx discount"... In case if u decide to sign up with this BS, u can always bargain for the discount de. Happy BS shopping!~

Hi ah faith!

Actually those BS i listed are not shortlisted by me.... its juz that other posts seems to recommend these BS or are asking about them.

From what i know, only Julia is at tanjong pagar
so besides that one, i want to know which other shops to go into to look at
Definitely the gowns will be the first thing we will be looking at, then will be the way they service us

Had actually saw a bridal show at the parkroyal hotel at beach road last Sunday, their gowns were nice but the manager was quite hard selling heh...
and we didn't want to decide yet.

YOu can google for those other BS you r not sure of the location. I would advise your future wife to go with her best friend to scout for her favourite kind of gown. Ask to try, see their service. I juz feel both of you should go with your own frenz separately so that the both of you will not be presurized by the sales personel. Cuz they r really pushy. Unless you are confident in rejecting them, you should try to avoid going as a couple to hunt.

At least if they force you to buy, you can say wife needs to come down to see first. Or you wife can say husband paying so will need to agree first.

Hi Mel

Heh.... no time to google yet....
tml have to go church attend class... then sat will go down to have a look le
im not worried about being pressured
i have no money now and all my money going to my trip in sept. and i definitely won't sign my credit for something im not needing this year......
:P

Alvin Quah & Mia Li (alvinmia)> My SIL used 'The Aisle', super nice gowns... I dont know the price but should be started ard $3k

Because this year is the year of the tiger (i.e. bad year for weddings) so most bridal studios will lower their prices to attract bookings. Nearer to the end of this year, the price will adjust upwards for bookings in next year.

Candysiew> Lol~ saw u here again... I'm from The Aisle too~

Alvin> If u are in no rush to book a package, u can wait for BS workshops or wedding fair to book mah... Unless u are having ur ROM first before ur banquet.

Inspector Gadget The Detective (inspectorgadget) >> Wow! nv considered this issue.. Luckily I settled mine while my AD is next yr.

ah_faith (ah_faith) >> Hihi! How are you? Done your PS?

Alvin Quah & Mia Li (alvinmia)>> Yup, agreed with ah faith, maybe can wait for workshop or roadshow? Most freebie... bcos if you so rush now, later book a BS dont like/has many hidden cost, then not worth it.

Thank you for all the replies~!!

Candysiew: It just happens that we have the time to pop by tanjong pagar tml for a few hours, so wanna do some research first. Need to find out which are the nice shops first before we go to any wedding shows, cos by then they will be quite pushy.... and every shop will be pulling us down to have a seat and hear their package...... happened once when we were not considering marriage yet at that time loL

Actually we're planning to take our PS at Shanghai, this Sept 2010. Already bought tickets to go over there for 2 weeks and have booked a studio to take photos. But we wan to see how much it will cost to rent the gowns here opposed to buying a gown there. Cos Suzhou has really cheap gowns....

Oh oh, anyone went to the aisle's bridal workshop?
I've tried to book for this Sunday's session but its already full.... will go for the next one instead...

Hi ladies

Im back from the shopping.... But we only went to 4 shops and we only went into 2..... hahahaa...
But the first one alrdy kinda sealed the deal with my girl le. She loves the photos by MDW. But their price is steep....
and the rest we saw didn't catch our eyes...

So we will most probably cancel the PS at shanghai and do it here.
Just have to bargain for more poses!!

Alvin> I went for the aisle's first bridal workshop last yr in Sept. Signed on them immediately after the workshop lol coz love the environment and atmosphere of the staff there. But since u already signed on MDW, then I wont elaborate further. In fact, MDW was the first BS i'd gone for BS shopping. I find them very pushy and price very steep. Personally, I find that their gowns are quite lacy and I am not a huge fan of lace so din take up thheir package. But anyway, congrats that u'd settled ur BS! Be sure to book ur wedding venue asap coz the years of Rabbit and Dragon are very hot for weddings de!

ah faith: We have not settled the deal yet. In the end i only signed up for the suit for myself. then they give us till this sat to decide if we wan to get the full package
We like their photo style alot, but ya they are very ex....
but I dun think they are very pushy lah, still within my expectations. they nvr go overboard.

Can pm me ur package with the aisle and what kind of gowns they have?
I signed up for Sunday's workshop but they were full, so they can only put me up for the next one in July.... Can i see your photos?

Alvin> I think it's best u check with the aisle directly on their package since u already signed up the suit with MDW so there could be price and details difference. I've yet to go for my first consultation but will be doing so this coming Saturday!~ Hehe! My PS will most probably scheduled in Sept and I doubt U'll wait so long to see my pics to decide... hehe.. The workshop is quite worth it though if u see its advertisement. Since ur wedding is still long way to go, probably u can wait till the workshop before deciding bah. Meanwhile, if u and ur wife have time, can still go for BS shopping though it's tiring. But it's worth it de! =D

ah faith: ya i saw their advert for the bridal wkshop.... too bad i was too late..... it was fully booked alrdy. I dun think i will chk out the aisle, looked thru their website photos and find that their style doesn't suit what me and my girl are looking for. MDW has the best looking photos we have seen... i think we will take up the package with them.
But will do our best to squeeze out whatever we can get. Its already over my budget actually....

Anyways, all the best for your first consultation this Sat~

babypom: I didn't go to their BS so can't answer u. But u shld probably email vicky to book a seat for the next bridal workshop they will be holding. I last heard they will have another workshop this month, July.
