The Sentosa, A Beaufort Hotel

Hi Hamlet, thanks for the link for red wedding! Look forward to hearing from you on how it goes after your trip.

Yes.. indeed 2k is ridiculous and I rem any addition stuff they would charge more. In fact even the green lawn at beaufort.. even tho we like it we prob will forego it as the rent is 1500.. which is crazy too.

Just asked my fiance, he said kelly country at 300 bucks offer just "ok" suits. Its very normal woollen. His friend doesn't wear suit often so he opts for a cheap one. They can copy the design if you bring a pic reference. If you wan a good one, it be around 1k range and a good tailor at The Strand can help with that.

Hi Liz!

Yeah I totally agree with the rental of the patch of grasses. If u were to only have a solemnization and u pay for it I would understand but I think it's not worth if u r having ur solemnization n lunch/dinner there n pay for it.

I will have a look at Kelly country n if the price is fine I will
go ahead.

So Liz, have u found ur wedding shoeS and rings? When's ur AD?

Hi Liz
I am still pondering if i shd take BBQ or Chinese menu.. My HTB says Chinese set menu look more posh most guests wld not think Buffet is espensive but I am more for the BBQ coz it suit the garden theme and more unique.

Hi Hamlet,
Welcome! I will be getting the ginger room as I only have 60 guests. Like the garden theme and also the way they will be spreading out the buffet desserts
happy.gif
Enjoy your viewing. They gave us 4 btl of corkage waiver

Hi Cola,

I do agree with ur HTB, I personally, if I wasn't getting married and know the pricing, I would reckon that the buffet/BBQ would come much cheaper than the regular sit down chinese menu. Well. that's my own personal view. I don't know about others.

It's good that u have 60 pax, I just spoke to my dad and he thinks that max 70 is too squeezy for my guest list. I am having an awful headache with my venue, I do like the garden theme and their pricing is really reasonable, but, I guess I really have to view the place b4 I make my final decision.

U have any pictures to share?

Hi Hamlet,
I've yet to find my wedding shoes! I'm looking not to spend more than 100 dollars for each pair. Ideal be just about 60 but think that's not possible in Australia. As for rings we know a jeweller in a particular building who can do the designs for us and I believe its cheaper than buying from stores up front. My AD is 19 June
happy.gif

Here's a blog I found on the internet while researching for pictures and this couple had their wedd at the ginger room:
http://www.thegaleria.com/weddings/andy_jean/
If you like more pictures, drop me a private message with your email add and I will send you what Zach gave me but its mostly Grand Salon pics.

Cola,
I have the same problem as well... I would love to have BBQ, like you said it suits the garden theme and its more casual. But somehow the it doesn't look expensive. Just doesn't make sense it costs so much more than Raffles Classic menu and to make things worst people will give less for the red packets. I most prob have to give up the idea..

Actually forgot I got more pics than grand salon cos I took more pictures of the lobby etc.. if you like to see those too can pm me your facebook email acc if you have one.

I m still in search for my shoes too. A friend of mine bought a pair of prada shoes n when I saw it, I told myself that I m not going to spend more than 100 on my shoes, I just rather the
money goes somewhere that people can see. Hehe

Ok I've sent the photo album link to u on FB

So tiring.. having such a hard time deciding between international buffet and chinese banquet.. sigh. My mind just can't settle on the decision..

it is Liz, it's a hard decision to make isn't it. I do think at times to try and cater to my future MIL as she's pretty fussy with her meals, but to change my mind from chinese to BBQ or buffet is a hard, for me as I have always wanted a sit down chinese dinner. Call me old fashion but I just 'feel right' u know.
Any idea what design you want your wedding bands to be?

sheep_in_sydney

New Member
Hey.. my god haha.. guess what.. my MIL is the same!! Very fussy and when she sees or hears any strange ingredients in our culture, she shows an expression of disgust on the face. In fact many australians are not adventurous with food even the young ones.

Oh my engagement ring is a typical tiffany design (went with it only cos I've no idea what other design to do that will not go out of date) So my wedd band will have to match the design and it would be either just a plain band or with super tiny diamonds all around. We are not doing matching ones so my fiance will look for a design that he likes for himself. How about you?

nwatson

New Member
Same Liz, my engagement ring is the typical tiffany design too!
I am down the coast now and I went into a shop yesterday arvo and I saw this full eternity band and I fell in love with it instantly, the very down side is.... it's 4K for the band.
sad.gif
so I got the salesgirl to check if they do it half eternity for 3K.
My fiance is also going to choose something else he likes too. I guess it's better this way isn't it.

Hey Hamlet, I'm gonna send you a PM on facebook regarding your ring.

Ya I think its good our fiance choose something else! Don't have to be exactly the same

Wonder if anyone has advice: We are probably going to have to use the maximum number of tables for the Grand Salon i.e. 25-26, for buffet dinner. Has anyone seen the ballroom at max capacity? Is it very cramped/ unpleasant? Thanks!

sheep_in_sydney

New Member
Hi xnw, according to my coordinator, 20 is just nice if there's a dance floor in the middle. 23 is tight. So if you're look at 26, no dance floor, I reckon its possible, just bit cramped.

Cola and Yvon, :p We've decided to go for the cheapest chinese sit down menu but I've requested for chocolate fondue fountain + 1 dessert and forego the typical dessert in the menu. We thought at least that be more fun for the guests so they don't have to just sit down all the time. Can have an excuse to get up. Am crossing the finger now waiting for Zach to tell me the escalated cost for doing that.

Hi all, can anyone share with me what is included in the floral decor? Like how many centerpieces, stands etc?

I would like to let go of the decoration so I need to know the details in order to calculate the offset amount.

Thanks!!

Hi Joules, I'm considering if I should drop the floral package and just use my own florist. Wondering if you can send me your wedding pictures have a look what Faye did for you? My email is [email protected]

Thanks!!!

On a side note.. funny I just realized I got you wrong previously when you told me about the terrace for solemnization, didn't realize then you already had your wedding... sorry!

Hi Liz!!! How's everything going? Hope u are well on track with your plans.

I have bought my rings, I got it from Wallace Bishop. They are having a promo buy 1 get 1 free. I saw one that I liked. It's a semi eternity. And my fiance got one with diamonds too! Lol.

happy.gif
Let me know how things are going on your side.

Cheers

Hey Hamlet! Wow that sounds like a good promo!
happy.gif
Glad that worked out for you. Its cute that your fiance's ring has diamonds. lol

For me, still left with things like getting the wedding shoes, plan the program of the night, put the songs together, choose the flowers..(thinking of getting a freelance decorator since Beaufort's floral packages are not very nice.. but that would cost me about 3k), possibly getting a DJ.. which is like jeez.. everything costs money.

Oh ya I wanted to tell you.. check out this shop if you need to get wedd shoes still.. in Singapore. Its a one stop center that sells everything.. accessories to shoes for brides.

Can't believe cny is just around the corner.. am so busy with these wedd stuff but still thinking of trying to bake pineapple tarts..

So you're gonna be home for cny?

Hi Liz,

Yeah my fiance has 0.5 ct worth of diamonds on this ring!! More than me mine's only 0.33ct. LOL thinking about it.

About the flowers, u got any recommendations? Need to roughly set aside budgets from those. Why 3K for the flowers... That's really EXPENSIVE....

And a band? Have you thought of hiring a band instead of a DJ?

CNY is just the following week and YES! I am going back to my home... Missing home very much.

Time just flies doesn't it. The last thing I remembered was trying to change my routine writing 2010 instead of 2009 and now it's feb! The next thing u know, it's ur wedding day.... then mine.... geezz...

sheep_in_sydney

Hi Hamlet!

About the flowers, you can try Mia, she purchases her flowers wholesale. [email protected]. I'm not using her though cos she's not free on the day of my wedding!

3k is very ex! But apparently flowers and decor are supposed to be 10 percent of your entire wedding cost, so I heard. I've looked for two decorators, they've yet to get back to me but it looks like to do something presentable, it would cost at least 2 to 3k.

Oh I've thought of a band before but not sure which one and what type of music to get them to sing! Yourself? You getting one?

Ya time flies indeed.. sometimes it felt like I only just came to Australia but suddenly its been 2 and a half years... and its hard to believe I'm making this strange country, its people who never know much about other countries and cultures my permanent home.

Enjoy your time back home with your family!

Hi Liz...

Just want to ask ur opinion.

I am contemplating if I should do a pre wedding PS or not.

U see, I kinda told my future MIL about my dress and she made it known to me that my partner CANNOT see my dress (but she doesn't know that my partner has seen me in it already) so out of respect, I am wondering if I should do a pre wedding PS with the gown or not.

I am not prepared to wear another gown for the PS as I LOVE my gown so so much that I want to take all my pics with my gown. If I take the pre wedding shots, then my partner would see my dress as the pictures shown on the AD would tell and I am sure she will be unhappy...

what should I do... can u tell me how are you organising your AD photoshoot?

I am thinking of getting a band as well as emcees as I don't think I want to ask my friends to be the emcees and want them to enjoy the wedding.

Let me know about the flowers, 2-3 k is indeed expensive.

sheep_in_sydney

Hey Hamlet,

Sorry for bit of late reply! Been a little busy lately
happy.gif

Mm about your pre wedding PS, that's kinda tricky. How about this..If you are not wearing the gown in the morning then compromise and not show your pictures on the AD so yr MIL can't tell you already did a PS. But if you are wearing it in the morning when you chu jia, make sure you have similar hairstyle and make up in the PS and on the AD. So you can just say you did those shoots in the afternoon, but don't show too many photos on the AC, just some selective ones.

For me in the morning I will leave the house in a CS and go out take some pictures then change to a kua for the tea ceremony. Then the gown itself I will take the pictures after solemnization. Its pretty much everything in one day. I'm not doing a pre wedding PS in order to save and also in Australia culture they're not used to this, they just have to see the gown on the actual day itself. Guess they believe its bad luck to see the dress, that's why my fiance was kinda freaking out that he saw my dress. I was even considering if I should change it just for him. But its not bad luck in our culture so I may not do it. We also figured if we wanna do some shoots we can do it after the wedding and in Sydney.

I guess it depends how important it is for you to like to show the pics on the AD and also if your gown is actually rented or purchased.
happy.gif
Can understand you would very much like to do a shoot in the dress you love. It can also be very fun out shooting.

Its unbelievable huh.. these angmohs MIL can be also very particular..

I also didn't wanna get my friends to be emcee so they can enjoy but very hard to find a good emcee. If you know any, do recommend
happy.gif
... lots of cheesy ones around in the market I think..

I maybe getting a DJ cos not sure which band is good :p

Did you call the contact I give you for the wholesaler florist? maybe you like to get a quotation from her? Think about the type of decor and flowers you want, how many centerpieces etc and how grand you like it to be and she'll be able to charge accordingly.

not sure if any of one know abt this, when we called up to chase for our agreement, we were told that Zack is no longer with the resort! No wonder he has not been responding to our emails...

Did u manage to call them? I just met Zack on 13/2 Sat and he did not mention that he was leaving....
I reckon it's their policy not to leak it out to people.. But if that's the case, it's not fair on our part either.

HI There. I encountered the same problem last week. Been chasing Zack for some changes to my menu for over two weeks. I finally called asked to speak to another coordinator. That's when I found out he left.

Now I have to start all over again with another coordinator. This is going to cause a big delay as the coordinators have now to deal with all that Zack has left behind for them to pick up.

My main concern was whether the date I wanted is still wait listed.

In any event, I should add that Zack was rather inflexible when it came to negotiating the packages. Did anyone else face that problem with him?

sheep_in_sydney

New Member
Hi Wilma, my partner just called Sylvia and the date we booked is still reserved for us. I believe it should be fine for you too.

Ya both Zack and Sylvia don't give in to negotiations. The most anyone can get out of it is waiver of cockage charge for 10 bottles of wine.

gai3

New Member
Hi SS!

I understand (from previous posts) that some of the others are a bit more flexible. The prob I had with Zack was in relation to the menu.

I didnt ask to waive corkage since we would likely have an open cocktail bar with hard liquor. But since my HTB is vegetarian, we wanted to take away one or two meat dishes adn replace with veggie options. Zack took away the meat dishes as requested BUT THEN SAID I HAD TO PAY EXTRA (OVER THE PACKAGE PRICE) for the veggie options. This, in my view, was ridiculous, since veggie dishes are almost always cheaper. In any event, i was replacing dishes and not adding to the menu.

I hope the new planner does better. BTW Sylvia is not a wedding coordinator. So u may want to specifically ask for one. When I was first assigned Zack, I asked them to assign another one cos I had read bad reviews about him. At that time, Sylvia said he was the ONLY wedding planner there.

I hope the hotel clears this up. We may start looking at other hotels (even though my heart was set on Sentosa) as my confidence in them is a bit shaken by what happened....

have arranged to meet up with sylvia this weekend to realign on what we agreed with Zack..
just thot as a courtesy call, they shld have taken the initiative to inform us...

so Liz, are you liaising with Sylvia? or they have link you to another wedding planner?

Hi Wilma and Yvon, sorry for late reply.

My coordinator now is Clara. She's apparently good from what I heard on the old threads on this forum. But she's not a wedding planner, she's actually a sales manager. According to her they'll soon hire a planner! For now, I believe the other managers are taking over the work for current brides. I'm still gonna go with them as I have no energy left to go source for other venues.

Wilma, they are prob charging more for your veggie options becos of the manpower required to do different dishes but ya its crazy to end up paying more..

Clara's pretty good.. she suggested I take the chinese international buffet and add in live stations since i find the bbq buffet too indian..

Sigh.. its hard to decide between a typical banquet and buffet..

Hi Juzme,
Are you also getting married on 10.10.10?
If so, we shared the same date and same venue. I am holding my ROM soleminzation and dinner at Ginger Room.

Have you got your soleminizer JP yet?

Hi Juzme,

Audrey's FM is generous with the quantity of flowers they provide but have limited decoration. If you bring the right designs for them, they can copy.

Simply Flowers are more commercialized but do better arrangements. They're more expensive.

June Florist provide alternative decor such as Gazebo if I'm not wrong.

I'm planning to top up with my own decorator for about 1.5k.

Due to a change of venue, we had to let go the 15th Jan 2011 dinner date at their grand saloon. Brides and grooms keen on this date, pls contact the wedding coordinator Sylvia. The date is pretty hot so grab it fast.

Hi all, been a while since I came back to this thread. I hope your wedding plans are all going smoothly!

As for myself, few months ago after considering a few factors such as..having to top up for decor, the chinese menu being no value for money and beaufort asking for full payment before the wedding day, we gave up the 19 June booking and went for Raffles Hotel lunch...

hi all,
am new here and shortlisted The Sentosa as my banquet venue. Anyone has photos of The Ballroom to share? I am looking at 10 - 12 tables and found their prices reasonable. Any comments on quality of food and idea of pricing for 2011/2012 packages? Their website seems to show pricing for 2009 / 2010 weddings only. Thanks!
