Suggestion for honeymoon

Hi guys,

I would welcome any suggestions for a honeymoon in December. As both my FH and I have travelled a lot, I want to go to a place where both of us have never been to before, kinda like to create new and special memories for us. I wanted to go Canada initially, but read that it's not really a good place to go in December and self drive can be dangerous due to the bad weather. Then I thought of Finland, but it seems pretty boring to me after reading the forum on it. So right now, I'm kinda at a loss of where to go and looking for any suggestions!

Hi! I think it will be nice to go to a place which allows you and your FH to do free & easy cos on a honeymoon, you wouldn't want to travel with a tour group but to do things in your own time. How many days are you planning for your honeymoon? Personally, I would like to go Paris for a longer honeymoon (between 8 to 12 days), and a nice resort in Thailand, maybe Krabi for a shorter honeymoon of maybe about 5 days.

Hi cactus_79,

I know, I'm used to free and easy tours myself anyway so I'm also rather resistant to the idea of package tours. And I thought for a honeymoon, it would be 'sweeter' to go free and easy, plan your own time and everything. I'm hoping to have at least 2 weeks of honeymoon. We have both already been to Paris so I don't feel like going there again.

Hi midas, thanks for the suggestion. But for both of the places that you mentioned, it would be better to go with tours than free and easy, isn't it?

If you are the adventurous sort, maybe you can consider australia? Just get a car to drive around and do things when you feel like it?

Or if you don't feel like exploring places, then why not maldives? You can take it slow there, but dun think you can spend at least 2 weeks there...

Or another place could be eastern europe. Maybe you can check out Prague and Austria? You should be able to do both places in a slow pace in 2 weeks! Prague is really pretty..

hmm...F&E means u dun sign a pkg with guided tour..doesn't neccessary means self-drive. both south america & south africa can also plan ur own flights, accom n programs...juz tat maybe cannot move around as easily as self-drive.

south america, can go seaside luxe resorts to chill..places like mexico, jamaica, belice etc. very secluded n beautiful...

south africa, can stay at luxe resorts with natural surroundings...i ever saw photos of a highend resort where ur private villa front pond has elephants n giraffe drinking water rite infront of ur door steps..very amazing one. but hor, if u dun like animals then cannot stay there lor..

is Alaska luxe cruise too normal for u?

or hv u stayed in a castle in tuscany b4? i did tat during my honeymoon...F&E

Have done self-drive in Australia before. I have also been to both Prague and Austria. I agree, Prague is really pretty and really romantic too. hee... I've checked it out, there doesn't seem to be any Alaska cruise in December. That's the problem with December, there are limited places where we can go. I wanted to go to Maldives, but then, my FH worries about tsunamis.

I thought of South Africa too, but he has friends there who told him it's dangerous. Hmm... I think South America bears a thought, but I have a feeling that my FH doesn't really like those countries there. Haiz.... Hard to decide!

Oooh... midas, a castle in Tuscany? Nope, I've never tried that before? Did you just go to Tuscany alone or other places as well? Do share.

kfkbmel,

if u r those self-drive travellers..Tuscany is a gd place for u to explore. can check out castles, vineyards, rustic towns...even drive to the seaside...Clique terra(or something..forgot the spelling)its really beautiful. i stayed at Chianti...the more touristy part of tuscan sunburbs...coz we din drive..we booked day tours from a local agent in florence city. if u want to try the more less traveled or rather off-beaten paths then can try Arezzo, Cortona, Lucca etc. there's lotsa writeup n tips available on the web for research...juz type tuscany as key word in ur search
