Solemnization at a chalet

HI Freaky..

Ya, so strict and they dun allow ANY advance booking at all. So risky ! Very difficult to book online.. so competitive...

SO how much u spend on Burkill Hall ? The rental is more expensive.. U are doing the night or noon event ?

Hi Charmaine,

2 months is a short time to search for backup venue as well if you don't get the chalet. The lady from Aloha actually recommended Changi Cottage which allows 6 months advance booking for weddings. It has a sea view as well but personally I'm not too keen on the building. The other option they have is the Aloha Loyang sea view bungloes. The lawn looks nice but again the building is a bit too small if it's raining and you need to move all the guests in.

I took up the night rental for Burkill Hall on a sunday so the rental comes up to $3000 excluding GST. You have to pay an extra 50% security deposit which will be refunded one month after the event. Nice thing about them is that they actually let you set up the place at 12pm on the day if you take the night rental and two hours after midnight to clear up.

The lawn isn't as big as Fairy point 7 but the upstairs is really nice with lounges. I haven't seen the inside of Fairy Point 7 so I can't really compare.

You can also try Fort Canning as well. http://www.nparks.gov.sg/nparks_cms/display_level2.asp?parkid=7&catid=8
The rental isn't as much as Burkill Hall. I haven't been there so can't really tell how it looks like.

Hi Freaky,

Thanks for sharing the infor... =)

The person at Aloha also recommended me the Changi Cottage which we dun find it that nice and grand looking enuff to hold a wedding.. looks like a chalet.. they have such rigid regulations which kinda pissed me off.. decide to give it up and look for other venues...

I went to Botanic Gardens and took a look at the Burkeill Hall before.. didn't managed to went up to the 2nd level cos there's a wedding set-up going on.. nice lawn and cosy feelings.. wow, the rental is kinda expensive.. also have u engage any entertainment or do they prvide u with all the technical aspects like sound system, microphones ? Are u getting any mist fans ? cos seemed to be quite humid cos the place is kinda surrounded by the gardens.. I would love to have a garden wedding .. but the rental and set-up costs for such wedding is quite high.. =(

Fort Canning is more 'open' and doesn't have the kind of private and cosy feeling like Burkill Hall... happy for u tat u had settled yr wedding venue.. =) I have to continue searching...

Good luck to me !!

Hi Charmaine, have you tried Sentosa? I think it's called The Arches or something, it's a colonial building as well if I'm not wrong. There's a few more venues you could look at for Sentosa. I'm not too sure about the details.

I love the upstairs of Burkill Hall. It's the best bit I like about the place hehe. There's a bridal room, kitchen, back lounge area which looks really cosy. I'm a bit disappointed with the size of the lawn cos I wanted everything to be setup in the garden but at least it's a nice place for taking pictures. The rental is ridiculously expensive! I was told that it goes towards maintaning the hall and ground. Luckily we managed to get financial help from FPIL hehe. We're looking into getting a jazz band but haven't really started looking yet. I'm not too keen on mist fans actually. There's lots of fan in the hall so I think if it's a bit too hot, the guest could move indoors.

Yeah, I agree that Fort Canning is too 'open' for my liking too which is why I like Fairy Point 7. Burkill Hall is opened for public in the day time but the whole place is closed at 6pm which allows some privacy

Hi all, I had my ROM @ Goldkist Beach Resort (former Costa Sands East Coast). The response is good and I can invite guests from more than 60 pax or so. Apart from that the food is nice too.
