Silhouette the Atelier

Hi Alexis

So yr wedding is coming up! U must be very excited now...I am not a Sil bride yet. But will most likely sign up with them. My designer will be Minda as I met up with her previously. Can share pics of yr gowns with me? can email to [email protected]. Thanks alot!!

Hi Tiffany,
I just went down to Silhouette last weekend. My very first visit, and I met Minda. She quoted me $3980 for MTM wedding gown (rent), MTM evening gown (keep), MTM groom suit (keep), plus all the make-up, bouquet and car deco. For the more elaborate designs, you have to pay a bit more.

Hi verie,
I didn't really know what I wanted initially... told Minda I wanted something elegant, long train with details at the back (cos i'm having a church wedding), simple, A-line... she took out a few more me to try... and I liked the postcard one best. When I first tried it, I thought it was a bit too loud... so she suggested embroidery in less contrasting colours. I'm still undecided. I kinda like the contrast too. And i don't know whether I want huge embroidery. Will browse more magazines and decide. It's actually quite funny... Minda was telling me that she's got clients who come and tell her they want something simple, and their idea of simple is actually along the lines of the postcard gown... I'm one of those. Never really thought that I'd fall under the drama-mama category.

Hi Alexis,
Yes... its the one that appeared towards the end. But its got gold embroidery not black. Minda says for more elaborate gowns like these, my package will be $4390. Abt $400 more.

Hi everyone,
I want to see photos too. If you have photos of ur wedding/evening gown, email them to me. Thanks.

Hi gals... I've a question for all.

How much time did you have between the day you took up the package with Sil, and your AD?

My actual day is in July 07, but I'll not be in Singapore for the whole of 2006. Am still deliberating on whether I should start the designing process now, and continue on it when I get back end 2006, or to wait till end 2006 to start the designing. Any suggestions based on your experience?

The one year lag is the problem... Minda actually said tt I can wait till I get back. Cos even if I start now, the design will probably change when I get back. But I don't really want to be limited by time... gosh! decisions... decisions...

hi ling,

based on our experience with sil, end 06 is a gd time to start the designing process. there is more than adequate time.

Hi gals,

I am in a delimma over choosing the MUA. I understand this can be rather subjective as its really base on personal perspective but I really hv no idea who to go for. Understand that theres Amy, Gin & Freddy rite? But did heard that if using Freddy must top up.... Do you gals hv any experiences with these MUA? In a much delimma now...

Hi Pearly

Miah recommended Jasmine n Gin for me. As Jasmine wasnt available on our PS, we used Gin. She's good and very friendly. Her makeup and hairdo are very natural which is suitable for me.

Didnt hear that need to top up for using Freddy. Maybe u can check with sil.

Hi Pearly,
There is Jasmine Tiong who is quite famous too, provided ur AD is before mid-2006. Cos she is retiring after that and will not tie up with Sil...

Hi JJ,
Could i have photos of ur make-up for us PS and AD, if u don't mind? Trying to decide whether i shd get Gin or hire my own MUA... Cos my AD is late next yr and i cannot get Jasmine. Thanks in advance! My email addie is [email protected]

Hi JJ & count,

Thanks a zillion for your feedback.

. Guess, I won't be able to choose Jasmine as my AD is in Oct 06. Sigh.. guess I don't hv much choice then. Can't afford to use Freddy so may hv to settle for Gin or Amy.

Count, you thinking of getting your own MUA...? Any idea if we drop the MUA from sil... how much will they take off?

im getting married soon, so scary! love my gowns, soooooo nice! my white gown now has shimmery sequins in addition to the silver embroidery to create a mesmerising effect when walking down the aisle/red carpet/etc...hope it impresses everyone because the gown is not for bringing home one

Verie,
Must share pictures after they're out! Ur gown sounds gorgeous! I just signed up with Sil last weekend! Hee...

For those who went for their fitting, can we take photos of our gowns one?

What happens during first fitting? You wear gown, see got anything to admend, then what else?

Hi ladies,

Read most of your comments about Sil. My wedding is next year and am starting to work on a budget for it. I'm pretty interested in Silhouette's WG, anyone care to share with me what budget should I be looking at if I were to go to Sil., I've no idea at all. Also, do they do men suits as well?

Hi Ryes,
During my very first visit, I asked Minda if I can take pictures. I think after you've taken up the package, they will have no objections with you taking pictures of your own gown. But before you take up any package, not allowed. Guess that's a reasonable expectation cos designs can be easily copied.

Hi Sue-anne,
Silhouette can tailor a package to suit your needs. Depending on whether you want MTM, to rent or to keep, level of detail, photography, flowers, make-up, men's suits etc... they will adjust their prices according to what you want. If you scroll up a bit, you'll see my posting abt the current prices (I went a couple of weeks back). Do make and appointment and speak to the designers. All of us enjoyed our visit. No pushy sales persons, very pleasant. Enjoy your preps. I'm like you... just started too.

Hi Sue-anne,

My fiance and I are planning for July 2007. Am starting preps now cos I'll be away the whole of 2006. And you?

Did you visit other bridal studios? Got your dinner venue settled as well?

Is anyone going for the wedding show at Sentosa Golf Club (1 Oct)? I noticed that Silhouette is one of the sponsors.

Trying to decide between this show and the other one on 9 Oct that features gowns by The Wedding Present.

Hi Ling,

Mine will be on 25 Nov 2007, the reason why we started the prep so early was becos, we are currently staying in Ireland and only comes back almost every 2 to 3 months. This makes our prep very difficult. Anyway, we were in singapore only a week ago for our rom and had also just confirmed our dinner venue with The China Club (I like the chinese but fusion ambiance).
The next time I'm back in Singapore will be in Nov (for only a week), so thought I can start shortlisting bridal boutiques for us to visit when we are back. Only looked at Bridal Veil & Wedding Present so far, but was too early to decide, thought we should take our time on this.

Hi Ling

Yes, I heard abt the Sentosa Golf Club Bridal Show. Sil is only gonna feature the suits for men..hence I dun think u will get to see their gowns. N no special pkg offered on that day by them so dun worry if u miss it. I called Sil to verify all these.

Hi all,

I am currently planning budget for wedding next yr,very keen on Sil designs. Can anyone share with me Sil's bridal package details?

Hi Kukimon

Sorry, couldn't help much at all, as I've also just started with the preparation and hve not met up with anyone frm Sil yet. Can only do so in Nov. Anyway, do keep me updated if you hve visited them.

Sue-anne,
No prob.me too, will onli visit them year end.

by the way, anyone knows which MUA that tied up with Sil?need to top up how much?

Hi Andrea,

Silhoutette is one of my top 3 list just that my hubby thing is too steep, pls e-mail r lovely gowns pics so tat i can convince him soon....tks a lot. Have met up with Miah 2 weeks ago & still can't forget the great experiences i had & the gowns....tkx! my e-mail: [email protected]

Hi Andrea,

I have been assigned Jasmine as my MUA. went for first fitting yday. The gowns are okay, but perhaps coz the details are not done up yet, so hb tot it looks very common and plain for my EG. He prefers the WG though. I have 2nd tots abt my WG top where I opted for organza with embriodiary...it somehow does looks like what I would have in mind. nonetheless, have to wait for 2nd fitting to see how it looks like.

Hi Ryes

I felt the same when I had my first fitting. Do let your designer know if you have any doubts. See if anything can be done to make your gowns look closer to what you really want. We are paying quite a bit after all. When's your photoshoot? If you still have some time before your shoot, ask to go for a few more fittings. Did you take any pics? Pls share them with me [email protected]

Hi andrea,

My PS was scheduled on 11th Nov, but I pushed it back to 25th Nov, so my first fitting is 2 wks before PS, ie 11th Nov.

You mean can ask for more fittings? but more fittings got what use other than see if the dress fits properly? I would love to see the details, like beadings done on the gowns. Am a little afraid that on the 2nd fitting when I see the finished masterpiece, I may want to make chances and may not have time...how

Hi Ryes

Usually the 1st fitting will be very raw. You may want to talk to yr designer to highlight your concern. I also had more than 2 fittings before my PS to bring my WG closer to what I wanted.

Hi Ryes

Since you still have time, you can communicate with your designer before the final touches go on, just in case there were any misunderstood ideas. Trying calling or email if you can't go down, or if you're pai seh. Besides getting the fit right, you can also check the finer details like beading and appliques. To avoid any unpleasant "surprises".

I also only saw the completed gowns days before my shoot, and fortunately they turned out great.

HI JJ and Andrea,

Thank you for your advice. I think I will ask for another fitting before my 2nd trial makeup. I really dont wish to have any unplesant "surprises" only on my 2nd fitting when there is hardly any time to make changes....

Sigh...I hope it will turn out fine.

hi everyone!

been reading abt the fittings... what's the schedule like? how many design meetings b4 confirmation of design? how many fittings b4 photoshoot? did u do both EG and WG design concurrently?

hi all,

my AD is next Sept and am considering Silhouette. I'm thinking of making a full-lace gown and heard they're pretty good. I'd also like to see gowns that they've made for you girls, so I can have an idea of what other styles they have.

if any of you have pics could i take a peek at them please?

my email is [email protected]

Thanks a lot!

Hi,
Can someone advice can Heath provide good service & design? Silhoutte was my first BS I have visited. I saw OTR's gown, was not very impressed, very simple. Is it becoz OTR are normal range, only MTM den able to see their speciality? Please advice.

I totally agree....HEATH IS THE BEST!!
happy.gif
Of course, i have seen and heard alot of good comments for the other 2 designers in SIL as well. Bottomline is no matter which designer you are with, judging from the good comments from everyone here, I am sure you will be in good hands!

Hi,

Sent them an email to fix an appt, but there's just no reply frm them. Can some kind souls share their detailed packages with me pls?? I'm currently choosing between them and The Wedding Presents. Thanks so much. [email protected]

hi mudpie,
why don't you give them a call to fix an appointment. you'll have fun on your first visit... trying on gowns and chatting with the designers. no worries... cos they are not pushy at all. the package price really depends on what you want... the designers will be able to advise accordingly. have fun!
