Swenson, if u r unclear u shld flip thru bridal magazines to get a feel of what u want in a gown. Also, of cos u need to visit a few shortlisted bridal shops to see what they can offer n make a comparison.
 
dyeann, are u going to start designing ur EG too? I need mine by June and I haven get started on my EG too .. hehe .. Will be meeting Kenji early Feb to do it..
 
Mine's $4k+, i think largely depends on the gown u are choosing and also what u want to be included in e package, i've OTR WG, MTM EG,MTM Men Suit & pants and 3 sessions of make up.

janice> i suggest you call and make appt .. have a try of the gowns and then the designers will explain the pkg pricing and you can go home think it over. it'll be better cause you might want to take out some stuffs here and there and the price will change accordingly

Meeting Kenji for my WG and EG fitting this Friday. Start to worry on the EG outcome. Hope everything turns out to be what I want. *finger cross*

sangqing, how many times do u have to go down before he comes out with the EG? So exciting to be able to try out ur WG n EG =) I'm looking fwd to mine..

Took him one month to comes out with the actual piece. Yup! Really excited.

i see.. then have u decided on e design of ur EG? If u have then I think shld b pretty fast bah.. It's quite difficult for me to come up with designs for my EG!

so now just to confirm on the color so that he can go to his supplier for fabrics. my photoshoot is 1st week of May .. stress! what's your WG like? go for a different cut from the WG i guess will be first step for the design?

sangqing> are you borrowing accessories from them for your shoot? i forgot to ask about it
 
My WG's a heart shape top with tulle bottom .. I kinda like heart shape so dunno if shld get e same for EG too.. I can imagine ur stress! May's pretty soon! the last time round, kenji told me they don't provide accessories, maybe only veils.. u may wanna check with him again ..

Argg...I should have gone to spotlight to check out the colors too. Was frustrating on the color selection too.

both my wedding gown and evening gown are also heart shaped...hehehe...
wedding gown will be off shoulder...
then evening gown will be toga...
 
mine's a toga too hahahah think silhouette will suddenly be swamped with one shoulder strapped EGs. my wg is the gown on the website but i'm changing the bottom from the blingbling tulle skirting to normal tulle.

sangqing> i also bought two hair accessories from china for my outdoor shoot cause abit kiasu. if you hear from Kenji can you let me know? then i have to find options. my pws is overseas so the makeup artist won't be able to loan me anything so the two might not be adequate or fitting with the EG.

Hey..just want to check if the MUA for Sil packages are in house MUA? I am not a Sil bride but read alot abt one of the MUA that is used by Sil brides..
 
Back from the gowns fitting. Am glad that the EG result is excatly what I wanted. Will be getting two detachable strap (one is crystal strap and the other is a flowy piece). Looking forward to the 2nd fitting!

Sangqing, that's really great! It's such a relief to have e EG as what we've envisioned.. do u have to find ur own accessories as well?

eh, u may wanna check with kenji on kua for rental.. the last time he said something like they don't really loan out anymore cos he says the kuas they have are not nice..

Sometimes less is more..

For me, I only wore a simple pair of earrings as my gown had a lot of details and also my SO likes to keep things classic and simple. And also, Caroline said I've got a nice neck area so
in the end, I just wore a simple pair of earrings which I got from Takashimaya.

On my actual day, my aunts were like, falling all over themselves to lend me their necklaces as they are the traditional types who think a bride should wear the full 'Si Dian Jin'.
But I stuck to my guns and told them imagine my gown already have a lot of details so I don't need any more accessories.

I really like those big flowers at the side but some pple say abit "flower crazy" so still thinking about it. haven't seen any nice ones for me to try yet.

i saw kuas on rental on websites for Bridal closet (the one that operates out of Katong Mall)? you can check there?

my PWS is going to be at countryside in Victoria .. then will have a casual one in Melbourne city itself and it's all DIY. hoping to be able to catch the autumn colors at this place 3.45hrs drive from my aunty's place. http://www.brightvictoria.com.au/?id=home

i planned for our "formal" wedding photos around my aunty's town. they have this beautiful cathedral and many gardens and old mining town. find it abit stressful though when diy-ing photoshoots with the photographer cause gotta plan where to go and sample some photos of the scenery.

monday going back to meet kenj to see the fabric samples he's getting for my color choice .. relieved that things are finally moving along

I think you should go for the flowers at the side..haha..feel is beautiful. Maybe opt for a smaller ones. You'll be using real flowers for it?

Ya, totally understand your feeling for the DIY thing. I'm also arranging the places and also to discuss with the photographer on the type of style I like. Is real worry that the result is not what I expected.

Must be exciting for you. Keep us updated on the progress.

Im new here. Im stuck with both BS Divine and Sil.
I like both their WG however SIL is charging me $4988 WG OTR and EG MTM (rental)and 1 set MTM suit for my bf.. I think its abit pricey..or that is the standard price?
 
jasmine,i tink tat's wat my designer said.. but i also duno wat he meant by not nice.. cos to some nice means a lot of dragon and phoenix..
and ya, they don't have a fixed price for e package, it all depends on e gown u choose. btw, since u like both Divine & SIL's gowns and Divine's cheaper, why not choose Divine?
 
saw the Kua. The red color looks dull and old. There are no beading on the dragon and phoenix. A very simple and plain looking kua. But they are nice to rent it out FOC if you really don't mind. Divine is not cheap either. The package does not include photography. Have you visit Dang and The wedding present?
 
Ok..My AD a bit far away so i didn't see the kua yet.. hehe..
ya, Divine's not cheap but still relatively cheaper den SIL .. All designer boutiques don't include photography I think, they only do link ups.. Yes, I visited Dang and TWP as well..
 
jasmine alternatively you can wait till they have a wedding show? you can just enquire if they having any shows coming up. when's your AD? are you going after the poofy tulle ball gown? if you don't mind me asking .. cause that's what i liked from silhouette and the other day i walked by bluebay abit regret i didn't check there also cause i saw they have some very nice dresses in the stamford house boutique (where the bus stop is). but not sure as a bridal studio how's the service like.

i've been visiting a few other BS with my gfren who is sourcing to rent just a gown for her sister. so far just going by even a simple thing such as the lace they used on the WG, you can see the quality of the material used only in Sil , TWP and Kevin Seah and couple of the boutiques in Delfi. But it exceeds the sister's budget for renting just the WG. when we go to other boutiques like the ones in tg pagar or marina sq .. the lace quality is quite bad.

so if you decide what kind of specific gowns designs you like, it's easier to shortlist and see what you can compromise and what you like to have?
 
Hi Jasmine, I'm new to this thread. I think the price they quoted you is typical Silhouette style of pricing...and no fixed prices so its normal that you fear. Have a feeling they probably charge everyone expensively... Mine is an OTR + flowers + makeup for 3700..

To everyone, do you know if Silhouette is flexible with change of mind on a WG after placing deposit? My fiance an aussie was disappointed he saw the gown design so I'm thinking if I should change to something else. Your comments appreciated.
 
jasmine: Ya, they quote differently for diff types of gowns also. E.g Tulle/full lace gowns are usually more exp, I think can top up to $800 or more just for these gowns..

welcome Liz =) Are u getting just the WG from SIL, no EG? Has ur designer made any alterations? I think u can call ur designer asap, if he/she has not make any alterations I think it's probably possible.
 
Hi pinkglove, thanks for your reply! Yes I'm getting just the WG and no EG. They haven't made any alterations. I'm a bit hesitant to called them as I personally am very bad at any sort of negotiations so I've emailed them. My designer is Minda.. I'm not sure how flexible she is, bit hesitant so I step carefully around her. Sometimes I wish I had gone to the amoy shop since many of you said Kenji is very approachable. Sigh.. Should I send a pic of my gown to you so I can get an opinion of it?
 
Oh forgot to say, also because I'm based in Sydney.. I can't really rush back immediately to choose something else.. And I was thinking they might say no to my request because according to them they've kept my dress aside for a long time now.. since October 2009 when I placed a deposit... tough..

Hey Marian, thanks! I don't know why but I'm a bit scared of her... haha.. so after reading pinkglove's advise of calling them asap.. I thought I just test the water first by calling Kenji since I haven't decided if I should really change it. Just talked to him, he said might be difficult to change the design since its been more than 3 months but he helpfully said he will call Minda to ask! What a nice chap.. Though feel kinda paisei to go in this round about way..and I quickly said to him not sure if Minda would feel weird I'm not calling her directly. He said nevermind just let him check first..

hopefully they've not started work on your dress yet so should be able to work something out. is your fiance a caucasian or chinese? if he's chinese i think it's easier if he can go with you to select your gown cause i think if they do let you change it will be only for once.
 


jasmine i just found my booking details in my saved files. i went to the sheraton wedding show and it was OTR WG and EG, 1 suit for groom, flowers incl car deco, trial makeup + AD makeup x 2 for 3.8K. I took out the suit and the flowers so it was down to about 3.2K. and if you choose certain type of gowns where the bottom has alot of sequins or gown itself with alot of lace, will have to top up to about $800. the dress i picked was like that only that it's been worn once before. so i opt to change the blingbling bottom out to a plain tulle bottom, instead of topping $800 i topped up $200 for the change.
