Silhouette the Atelier

Hey girls... SIL is having a St Valentine Promotion right now. $3888 for 1 off the rack WG, 1 off the rack EG, 1 MTM Groom suit. (Need to pay $1k more for tulle gown). They also tie up with the photographers for another additional $1k pre wedding photoshoot.

Do u girls think this is a good deal?

Promotion will end on 28th Feb. I haven't been to other bridal studios yet so is quite stressed abt it.
 


Huijing> if it includes flowers and makeup sessions it's nearly the same with my pkg but mine was top up $800 for pre wedding shoot with a few selected photographers. if you look at the details of the PWS, some still require top up for money for the photo album. impt thing is, have you seen any gowns you like yet at Silhouette and check if that particular dress requires top up. from there it's easier to gauge and decide?

Most photographers do give albums except for lighted pixels and 9 frames. The Chris Ling's package is quite tempting as they can do photoshoot overseas.

Yup saw something i like at Silhouette. Just that, i dont have enough time to check out other Bridal Studio before i can decide.

Going to wedding present this week. Hopefully will be able to reach a decision by end of this week.

Any other bridal studios i shld check out before i sign on the dotted line?
 
tinktink> if you like the princess ball gown kind of cut and something that's pretty glam (as in alot of bling bling) i saw bluebay @ city hall have quite a few nice dresses hanging on the display rack. i already signed with silhouette so i didn't go in to check it out incase regret *lol*

it really depends wat kind of look you are going for .. my own thoughts are ..

bareback = divine couture or silverlining couture
ted wu = embroidery n laces
margarent brides = pretty good with laces but $$$ depending type of lace you getting
bridal veil = i find that they are best with the duchess satin type of gowns .. pretty structured look but i think basic pkg already set you back 5-6K?
twp = i'm not sure of the pkg but it seems to the tulle ball gowns that silhouette can offer?

my colleague just had his done with GHA and they are very very pleased with the whole wedding pkg inclusive of the photoshoot.. another friend had theirs done with Sattine. i've seen another bride's gown fitting with Yvonne Creative and thinks she looks absolutely stunning in their dresses hehh .. kinda hard to choose right?

i chose silhouette cause i got the "this is it" feeling when i saw the wedding dress after going to a few BS.
 
dyeann: Same!I had this "this is e gown" feeling when I tried on the WG at SIL, after trying on so many other gowns from other BS... =)

tinktink: I tink u may wanna check out ted wu too cos I tink they can do beautiful princessy like gowns too.
 
Don't worry dyeann, u can always get ur shoes even after u've gotten ur gown =) Where are u planning to get ur shoes from and will u still have another fitting before ur PS?

been working late every weekend till too tired to go town. my shoot's in 1st week may so i suppose will have one more quick fitting before PS? i'm also not too sure
 
U still have 2 mths, don't worry, I think there's enough time but u shld start looking for ur shoes now though..
Ur EG's done up quite early then, 2 mths before ur PS.. How long did e whole process took and how many times did u have to go down to settle ur EG?
 
i haven't seen the EG yet .. but went down three or four times just to settle the color and material for the EG .. i'll have to jot down and remember to ask if i need to go back before end apr hmm. hopefully next week can take photo of my WG .. need to send to my overseas MUA to have a look as well \o/
 
i see... so kenji will show u the various shades of colour we've chosen and also different types of materials to choose from? I've told him about the things I like and don't like in our first meeting as well as shown him some pictures of the type of EG i like, so im wondering if he will be showing me the colour and material in our second meeting..

Ya, I tink it's good to send ur MUA ur gown photos so that he/she has an idea =) so how's ur overseas shots' preparations like air tickets & hotels coming along? =)
 
air tickets n hotel booked .. mua booked .. just needa order flowers and pick up from florist in the town .. my aunty's arranging that for me.

i had a few issues with the color cause the dinner place is pretty dark so i told kenji like to go for a brighter color so that the pictures will turn out better.. so had problems settling for the shade of purple that i like
 
That's very nice, u still have flowers for ur PS.. good tat u've an aunt to arrange this for u.. for me, I'm prob gg to go without flowers cos it's a bit too troublesome to arrange to have flowers...
 
hi huijing, do u have the pricelist for the valentine's package?
i have one and it is the same price but mine doesn't come with the evening gown

I have the hard copy of the pricelist.
Just checked the hard copy and it includes 1 off the rack bridal gown + 1 off the rack evening gown for the bride + 1 set of MTM suit for the groom + makeup, hair, flowers etc.

Nt sure why ur package dont come with the evening gown. U might want to look for the lady that served me, Selena from Stamford house.

I checked with Selina during my last visit, she mentioned that i can also choose the gowns from Amoy.

How're the gowns at Amoy?
Selina says they are simplier.
Is it true?

My Actual day is 10 months away and i thought of waiting for their roadshow or better deal to sign with them.

Do u girls know when they are going to have a wedding show?

M pretty sure i will be signing with them as other places that i have went are quite disappointing.

wah, thanks! the gowns at amoy are very nice and i have eyed 1 already.
but the deal at stamford is better since they throw in the evening gown. i havent been to stamford
maybe i call selina tmr n go down n ask before i head to amoy

I like SIL gown very much too but unfortunately i have already sign up a package with another bridal shop with some deposit paymemt. Just went for my gown selection but din manage to find anything that i like. Does any one here know if bridal package is transferable? Cos i really feel like getting my gown at SIL instead now..Please advise thanks!

very happy!!!
and i chose let there be light to be my pre-wedding photography

Pink: Ok i will try check out with my bridal shop to see what are the alternative option they can do for me (i have paid 45% as down payment, and hav used up the ROM package which is given FOC in the package, hopefully they not gona charge me at super high price for the ROM before i could do transfer..)

i'm having Minda (Stamford branch) as my designer...

OK, I have called up SIL and was attended by Rebecca. Hope she will be helpful like others...
by the way, does any btb here done your ROM?would like to know how much usually the package is for a simple OTR rom gown with make up (without hairdo). cos i was told by my bridal shop that they gona charge me 600-800 for my ROM if i not gona take up the full package....

cocotintin: u can visit both boutiques because they carry diff gowns but equally pretty! hehe..
and i tink all their designers are good at tulle gowns since this is wat they are famous for also..
 
SL & Pinkglove: thanks for your advice. haha.. I'm afraid I will be stuck between that 2 branches and dont know which to sign the package with. hahaha.. any advice which branch has a better package? what about the price? is it pretty much the same?

Designers are kenji and caroline? May I know what are each of their niche? also, do you make appointment specifically saying you want to meet up with the designers or only after signing the package then u get to speak to the designers?
 
cocotin, u have to make an appointment. y not go down to both and listen to their ideas?
i was quite easy and i only went to kenji and i like the gown at first try so that was it.

cocotin:I went to amoy's branch den to stamford and finally back to sign at amoy because I really like a gown i saw there. So it's really much dependent on individual and they don't really have a fixed package, usually they'll ask wat is it that u need den give u e package details.. and there're more designers like rebecca n minda =)

I have finally sign up with SIL hee...just hav the feeling of no doubt to sign when i see their gowns, and my designer is Rebecca.
I have check with my previous bridal shop on the pakcage transfer..but still got no conclusion yet

does any btb here do your gown selection at both of amoy & stamford house? cos i am abit kiasu bride, not sure if they allowed to do so ;p
 
cocotin, you'll need to call up to make an appt with either boutique first. Dun worry, you'll be in good hands, as so far, my experiences with both have been great =) IMO, the gowns at Stamford do vary slightly from Amoy, but end day, you'll know which is "THE Gown".

I manage to sign up for the valentine package too..the package is standard, comes with OTR WG, EG, groom suit, make up and flowers etc...but need to top up 1 k for PWS and additional 800 for fully lace/ tulle gown...i love their lace gown very much...when are you goin to do gown selection?
 
i was told that gown selection at amoy branch is more than compared to stamford. usually kenji will have a chat with you and let you try a few standard shapes / cutting of gowns and see how you feel in them. for me i asked for a specific gown which is not new anymore and he had it brought over from Amoy branch cause it was kept in store.

will go down in march to discuss the details to be added to the gown as my photoshoot is in june
kenji said no need to top up for any add-ons.
by the way, if you use let there be lights for your photoshoot, it is only an add on of 800, not 1k. u call let there be light directly, they will give u better quote.
anyway mine doesn't come with EG as I wanna get a tailor made cheong sum myself

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful advices. Are your wedding held this year or next? How long does it normally takes frm design to the final product? I am trying to decide when should i go gown shopping. kekeke..

I heard lighted pixel is one of the photographer they tie up with, any one has any experience with them? Can anyone share the package with me including photoshoot?

By the way, are most of you choosing the tulle gowns? I need a wedding gown and an EG. So i presume most of you are getting OTR gowns? anyone did a MTM wedding gown? is it worth doing a MTM wedding gown?

hmmm...if you're MTM-ing your gown, i think it takes around 2-3 months...
i'm doing an MTM wedding and evening gown...i think it's quite worth it cause we're allowed to design our own gowns :D
