Hi dear all, I had discussed wif my bf regarding our ROM, if nothing goes wrong, it will be on MAY 2010. Therefore, i would wanna book the outdoor location next yr (2009)between March to June. (Is it too early ah?)

Er.. my motive to post this thread is actually to ask few ques which i had been thinking n thinking n dun understand, hope all brides hu know, will enlighten me...

QUESTIONSSSS:

1. If i'm looking for a perfect veune and after making call to ask them about e package, etc.. den if it sounds reasonable of cuzi would very much like to visit the location, den i guess there will be someone maybe a co-ordinator to explain stuff to me n bf. In this situation, if i still wanna consider (still have few choices to check b4 i make decision) how can i push back (not reject e offer) juz sae i will consider? As in, how should i tell her a proper reply?

2. For ROM, i understand most of e package r determined by per pax. If i can't confirm e actual no. of person attending, till e day itself, how many pax should i put on reserve? And eg. max i will invite 50 guests for ROM, but only 30 say will come, den if they prepare 50 pax de food how ah? And another round, if 30 people confirm with me wif their attendance, but end up 40 people come, e food not enough? (Er.. hope u all understand wad i'm trying to say.) They will charge how many people in e 2 situation?

3. How much is consider as expensive for ROM package. Take e price for per pax. And max how much u willing to pay for per pax? Cuz i would like to have garden or beach ROM, den max 50 pax.

4. Does all veune that provides ROM package/ buffet includes deco, as in we have to pay for extra for all deco? Or they will for sure provide the deco? And do we need to pay for rental for the location we book? Or juz pay e food for the no. of people, service charge, etc....

5. If during ROM i haven sign up wif any BS other den freelance MUA n PG, who else i need to engage?

6. For GDL, PJ, An Chuang etc... are to be done after ROM, but b4 AD right? Any other tradition things to be done for a teochew FHB and Canto Bride? Seriously need help on this..

7. How long did you all take to plan for when to pass e GDL, PJ and when to do An Chuang? Must we select a good date to do all e tradition stuff?

8. Did anyone choose their ROM date or AD date without the help of TONGSHU? As my fhb n me wants e ROM to be on our anni, therefore we do not wish to have ani negative comments to affect our decision.

9. How long did all brides take to plan their ROM? After that, how long did it takes u to plan AD preparations?

**sorry for the real long ques, but it means alot to my understanding... TIA.

would like to add on some more ques...

10. SDJ (teochew bride request from groom's parents?) I'm not a teochew bride so this is not applicable to me right? But FHB is teochew.

11. What's the diff between Jia Zhuang and Drownry and nappy money? Wonder if i'm correct... JZ is my mom give to me one, Drownry = JZ? lol.. And nappy money is i give my mom thank her for bringing me up?

Really having confusion... Please help!

wow.. u really got alot of questions.. hope I can help.

1) Just tell them thanks for your service, will need to consider and will get back to them soon..

2) Tell your co-ordinator about it. They will advise you further.. For my ROM, I confirmed 60 pax, but only abt 50 pax turned up.. but my hotel only charged me 50 pax..

3) Mine is abt $3K.. think it's up to individual's budget.. of course we are not going to spend a bomb on ROM if u still wanted banquet.. think $3k should be good enough..

4) depends of the place where u are going to hold ur ROM.. some places do comes with decor, some may only comes with minimal decor.. this got to check with the co-ordinator too..

5) U need to consider how are u going to get ur ROM dress.. rent or buy?? some ROM got VG too.. u may want to consider that too..

6) We don't say after ROM.. we only say it before AD.. if u are not going to have AD and consider ur ROM to be actual event, then some may have it before ROM.. really depends on individual.. normally will only fixed these once ur AD date is fixed..

7) As mentioned in point 6.. dates only fixed when ur AD date is fixed.. yes, some wanted to select good dates for them.. normally GDL 3 wks before.. An Chuang 1 wk before..

8) if both ur families doesn't mind about the dates, go ahead and decide urself..

9) for my ROM, i took 5 mths.. for my AD i took one year..

10) ur FHB's family may want to give SDJ to you cos they are teochew.. doesn't matter whether u are teochew anot.. cos it's from the groom's side..

11) Jia Zhuang is Drowny from ur parents.. Nappy money is money given by ur FHB to ur parents for bringing u up..

ok, think I've answered ur questions.. hope it helps..

Hi,

Michelle Chia from Mediacorp ah? :P
I try to ans some qns.
2. Some venue requires min no of pax. So whether you have the min no of guests or not, they charge as per normal. Usually cater about 70% of attendees.
For my ROM, I have less than the min no of pax but I still need to pay min no of pax as stated in the contract. Spent about $3k plus.
Usually hotels/outdoor venue, they require extra charge for decor. Food excluded.
ROM prep...my hubby proposed to me in June. Oct was an outdoor ROM event. Some people require longer time to plan. As for me and hubby, we last min de...cos super busy with work...haha

As for dowry, AN chuan issue, I am not sure on that. CAn't help much in this issue.
