hi ashlee
we wanted a buffet too. so u decided on the jubilee menu? I think its much better than their classic menu which is kinda of lame.

cws
Ya, I thought the classic menu is rubbish! And the raffles menu too extravagant. Think Jubilee is the best. hehe...
U having it in EIR also?
happy.gif

Hello gals, I am planning my wedding from Overseas and will appreciate if someone can provide me Raffles Hotel website as I cannot access it. (Maybe their server is down!!) Also, Raffles' bridal suite nice? Thanks.

Magdalene
I am planning from overseas too... so is katgrrl but havent seen her here for a while.
But I havent gone down to raffles to view, will do that next week as we will be back for a couple of weeks. hehe...
happy.gif

Will tell u more then if u can wait.
happy.gif

Thanks Ashlee. Yep, I haven't been to the overseas thread for a while. Had an argument with my mum over her last minute change of the no. of guests to invite and am frantic now cos most hotels will up their price if I book only next month!!

Mag
Oh dear... you better be quick then. Maybe worth giving Raffles a call to make sure they've got the date u want! Good luck dearie...
happy.gif

Hi Gals thanks. I am looking at Mon or Sun between end Oct'05 and Nov'05. I just got a reply from RH and some of the dates I want are still available. Pheww....

Dear Magdalene,

You can place a tentative booking with them first to secure the date. Dates are taken up very fast these days.

hi all,
this thread is pretty quiet now.

i am happy to annouce that i am officially a raffles bride now.
happy.gif

as for menu, the classic buffet really not very impressive, but have to go with it due to budget.

do share more abt ur planning.

my AD is 03/Apr/05 Sun. gown is tailor made by seamstress, not with any BS.

hihi all

Yeah definitely a very quiet thread now...come on ladies! Ask more questions! Actually I suppose some of us covered almost all the corners in our super-on flood of posts earlier hehe... Oh! And I didn't get the email from seawave too... o well no matter =)

Anyhow for those of u who want to know abt my wedding at Raffles... read here after the event... 21 Jan 2005 (no guarantees how soon I'll post though) =D I also have some photos taken at the hotel during my PS in my gallery

p.s: Good luck with the wedding planning for all of u Raffles brides!
p.p.s: For those of you still considering Raffles... just imagine the unique-ness of having your outdoor PS there. It's really quite charming... =)

Hi bochup, lovely wedding pics! i also had my wedding PS taken at RH and it was really fun! did u take a pic of the fountain? i have yet to see my photos though, so quite excited!!

Hi gals!

I've got a question (or several!)- I've got a food tasting coming up on 4 Feb. Do you have any experiences to share? Would I be too over-the-top if I ask them to mock-up the table deco as per the actual night (so flowers, tea lights etc). Can I also ask them to serve 2 dishes per course so that we can try both and choose 1?? Do let me know! Thanks
happy.gif

bochup
Love your Ted Wu gown!!!! Lovely photos. I jus had my photoshoot last week, really dunno why we din go to Raffles to take. Haha... but never mind lah, will make sure my AD photographer takes loads of photos at RH! hehe...
So excited for you! Less than two weeks to your wedding!

Suzxie
So yours is Chinese dinner then? We are having buffet, so we cannot sample dish for dish, only got to "taste the quality of the food" at Bar & Billiard Room. Am not sure if you can ask them to serve two dishes per course though... does sound a bit over the top. hehe... but am sure they will do it if you pay for the extra dishes. And again, not sure about the flowers and deco.
Good luck for the request. Hope u can get what you want and you can come back here to feedback to us how it is like!
happy.gif

hi bochap n Pepper
I dint know we can have the PS at RH. I read somewhere in the banq contract that PS is not allowed in certain areas of the hotel. I'm really interested to knw how you gals make the arragement.

n oya bochap, nice WG frm Ted.
happy.gif

belle
yes i did! but those pics didn't turn out as the best ones. we took a couple where we were sitting on the edge of the fountain and i was terrified of falling back into the water so i might have looked constipated. hahaha... do share yr photos when done ya? =)

suzxie
Yes u can ask for a mock-up but it may not be complete with burning candles. Also, unless you have connections to pull strings, they generally don't allow you to taste two dishes (unless of cos you want to pay which I don't think you'd want). In my case I had 9 persons instead of 8 so the extra person (which I have to pay anyways) I asked for the alternative soup to try. Other than that, we all stuck to the same dishes.

ashlee
thank you! =) where did u get yr gown again? dunno where our list of raffles brides has disappeared to with all our new posts....

cws
errmmm yes of cos we can have outdoor PS at RH... the only thing is some places cannot take but RH is really big... for eg... that fountain is not a restricted area i think... the trick is that if you really want to take at restricted areas, DO NOT dally... take quick shots and then leave (but don't quote me on this!). RH is not unreasonable... they just don't want the guests to feel uncomfortable or for the bridal couple to take too much attention (block passageways etc) n cause inconvenience to their guests. Most of the hotel guests (or residents as they like to call them) were very friendly and smiled or congratulated us.
my photog is also really good with catching quick action shots so that worked out well for us.

Hi everyone!

Yeah, the thread is alive again! Yes, bochup, your photos are LOVELY!!! (Hence the excited phone call to you after I saw the pix). Like both the indoor and outdoor shoots.
happy.gif
Almost tempted to sign up with Ray too for PS. (Waiting now for the Feb issue of Style weddings cause they usually have PS promotions before signing up for PS, if any...) But yeah after sort of deciding to save money on the PS, your photos have really tempted me now... I tend not to look good in PS though...my graduation pix turned out unnatural and unflattering.
sad.gif

By the way, your bouquet looked really nice. Where did you get it from?

hihi caitlin!!

I got the bouquet thru Ted Wu who works with Greenpoint Florist. That's where my car decor will be done too.
u got to find yr own florist izit?
ps: you got mail!

Hello everyone, it's my very first post here!

Just been to Raffles Hotel and Ritz Carlton today, and I must say Raffles is really in a league of its own. But I have a problem now, I like the EIR with buffet while my fiance likes the Casuarina Suite with chinese dinner. Sigh I don't know how to resolve this cos I really like the EIR with the palm garden outside...

Bochup
I am getting my gown from The Wedding Present. Ted Wu was my first choice when I was doing the shopping, but then they were too ex and their service was not as good as TWP. The guys at TWP have been so nice to me, I feel completely spoilt! hehe...
My actual WG and EG are not in my PS tho, cos they were not ready then. So have to take loads of photos during my AD! hehe...

CWS
Ya, think Jenn was telling us about photographer having to wear a name tag or identification for the PS, but other than that, if it is not overly obstructive, I am sure outdoor PS can be done. Think they might have loosen up a bit and not so stringent now.

Charissa
We were totally blown away by the palm garden, so we booked the EIR straightaway when we knew it comes with the fountain. Great for predinner cocktail I reckon. But if you guys really decide on Chinese dinner, then I think cannot choose EIR cos they dun serve Chinese dinner there I heard...
sad.gif

Bochup's photo is nice! I especially like the one that you have as the thumbnail with the flying veil.
happy.gif

Anyone got any updates as to Food Tasting sessions, invites, floral deco etc?

Ashlee
Thanks for your comments. I will definately feedback after my tasting on 4th Feb.

Bochup
Loved your site! At last, I found someone as wedding-planning harrassed as me!
happy.gif
You do look gorgeous though in the photos and the dress is beautiful. Best of luck for the first wedding coming up!

Charissa
Hi there! I do prefer EIR .. I guess you can try and talk your FH around...

seval
Hi there.. I made my own invites cos it was more satisfying and I did not fall in love with Raffles' standard invite. I got a few bottles corkage waived tho' which will come in handy.

Is anyone considering the Classic Menu from the wedding dinner (not buffet) and what dishes are you having?

Whoa whee! this thread's alive again! Thought it'd gone the way of the dodo...

Omigosh, Bochup, gorgeous photos! 3 weddings! I don't know how u do it. Relax and have fun on your big day!
happy.gif

Charissa
You wont regret EIR, and esp the fountain which is really stunning at night. U can have the best of both worlds, indoor at the EIR and outdoor at the fountain. RH actually cordon off the whole area for you which means you can walk freely in and out to mingle with the guests. So I guess ist more appropriate to have a buffet, which I did.

ashlee
U sure we have to wear tags? I'm just gona go in straight take quick shots n leave. So do u intend to have yr PS at RH?

Hi bochup,

Nice pics! Can't wait to see the rest!

I have been reading your blog and I can see that you've put in a lot of thought into the wedding. Great job! Now that your big day is coming,
don't get too stressed out, just sit back and enjoy the weddings!

Hi CWS,
Just contact your coordinator at RH abt 2-3 weeks before your PS to inform him of the time and date that you will be having your PS. He/She will then inform security when you're coming.

On the day of the PS, only your photographer has to go to the basement (carpark level) to exchange his IC for a pass. If he's unsure where to find the security office, just ask the RH staff - they'll be able to guide you there. BTW, RH gives us 2 hrs to do our PS there.

Hope this clarifies.

Hi all,
Glad that this thread is alive..
We have just placed deposit with Raffles.
AD is 03 Apr 05 (Sunday), using Grand Ballroom.

Suzxie,
U mentioned u got waiver for a few bottles? Can share more details?

thanks,

Sigh, my parents prefer to have the traditional Chinese dinner, so no more palm garden for me

Another sad news, I lost the diamond on my engagement ring today!!! I'm soooo sad and angry, I mean I only had it for a month! Anyone has any idea what I can do? I just called Soo Kee and they say I have to bring the ring down for them to investigate, but what can they do? Give me back the diamond I lost?

Hi TSC

oh dear. i bought my ring from sookee too. previously my diamond was also very loose after a while. and i quickly sent it back to them to rectify. think their workmanship not very good.
u remember where u wore ur ring and when did u realise u lose it? u must have try combing the areas already i know, but try harder,. it may just be lying in some corner. hope u could find it soon.

Yes I wore the ring to work and I think I lost it somehow but when I realised that the diamond has dropped off it was too late. Cleaners had come to tidy up the place, plus it could have been anywhere, I don't even know where to start looking...

Don't know why I have such bad luck and I'm really quite upset with Soo Kee!

Hi TSC,

So sorry to hear about what happened to you. You must be real assertive when you meet Soo Kee. You've only had the ring for 1 month, you didn't do anything extraodinary, the only plausible explanation for the diamond coming loose is their bad workmanship. Maybe even show them the ring as the minimal scratches are evidence that you have not been "manhandling" your ring. Even if they say they don't know why, should insist that the loss shouldn't lie with you when the ring shows no signs of violent handling by you. Maybe even print out some write-up from some magazine or website on how often a diamond should be re-set in case it is loose to emphasise the point. Check if you have a warranty and what it says.

Finally, if need be, as the last measure, just go when the shop is crowded, insist on speaking to the manager, raise your voice a little so they face some pressure- sure they don't want to chase away interested customers too.

Sorry if I sound rather indignant and agitated, I haven't had a bad experience with Soo Kee but I really think that you should get some compensation. (If I were you, I would ask for a refund and buy my ring elsewhere now.)

Hi TSC,

One more thing, you may wish to check the Small Claims Tribunal website http://www.smallclaims.gov.sg/ to see if you can lodge a claim with them. You do not need to be legally represented and the process is not expensive. I think it's a better self-help remedy than going to CASE.

All the best!

Hi TSC,

I'm really sorry to hear about your ring
sad.gif
It must be very upsetting. Btw, it seems that yours isn't the only case of a diamond popping out of a Soo Kee ring. There's a thread where a bride lost hers on her wedding day... fortunately, she found it after combing the house. Good luck! ..although I don't know how you're able to prove that it's faulty workmanship and not due to negligence or rough wear (which is what they will say)
sad.gif

Gals, please be very careful with your Soo Kee or 4-prong rings. I did an extensive research on diamond rings and 4 prong ones are not deemed secure enough by those in the industry. hence, when we went shopping for the ring, I ruled out SooKee immediately when they only had designs with 4 prongs plus the fact that the salesgirls (who looked fresh out of O Levels) weren't able to answer my queries on proportion and cut to my satisfaction.

I think u need to make sure the diamond is secure everyday. try touching the edge of the diamond and if it actually moved even a tiny bit, don wear it and send for maintenance immediately.
yes KatGrrl, 4 prongs is not safe but i like the look for 4 prongs, so have to be extra careful. especially if u want to wear it for PS. i was very worried during the PS especially outdoor.

Hi all who had loose diamonds on their Soo Kee rings... are you gals refering to the Brilliant Rose series?

Yah, it's true that 4-prong rings do not hold the diamonds securely. However, it's a problem across the industry, not just pertaining to Soo Kee. Besides, I am quite sure Soo Kee has the 6-prong ring design. I bought that for my FW and it looked very secure, even though she has wore it almost everyday for more than a year already.

hi all,
this will proly be my last post until i get back from taiwan. thank u all for yr compliments and thanks cookie's gal for reading my blog =) do share yr photos too please? =)

tcs
so sorry to hear about yr ring. =( definitely take caitlin's advise. she should know how to argue a case quite well =)

Thanks ladies! What a stressful day it was... I took the ring down to Soo Kee's Suntec outlet and they told me it has to be sent to the company for investigation?! That will take 2 weeks. I really don't think I have to undergo all this stress and anxiety but what else can I do?

Guess I just have to wait that 2 weeks and see what kind of solutions they can give me. The salesgirl didn't give me a lot of information but at least she was nice.

tcs
hang in there and hope it goes well for you.

bochup
we'll be thinking of you!! best of luck!

zenith
i got 5 bottles corkage free when i did my own cards.

tsc,
sorry to hear abt ur ring...

bochup,
u have a really nice blog.. u must hv put in alot of effort...

suzxie,
how many table did u get from RH?
i asked for 5 btls waiver but sharul refused to give in.. i din thot abt the card trade-in.. now that we hv paid deposit.. not sure if still can request for waiver instead of card..

when's ur ad?

cookie's gal
thank you so mch for your info! Can I ask which part of RH is really worth taking, coz the place is really huge. I can only think of the Lawn and fountain. So did your pics turn out well?

TSC
So sorry to hear abt your loss. I can imagine how you felt. Guess you have to wait for 2 more weeks and see wat happens. Keep us posted ,ya?

Hi ladies,
Like what terrapin says, I've been wearing my Brilliant Rose e-ring for more than a year. No problems with it since Day 1. In fact, I usually give it a light brush with a toothbrush (to clean it) when I take it off at the end of the day. I have also sent it in for regularly cleaning and it still feels very secure. I am also wearing a pair of diamond earrings daily (this one I hardly take off) that I bought from Soo Kee. No problems with them as well.

If I recall, I think the lady mentioned by KatGrrl bought her ring from Lee Hwa.

Hi TSC,
Really sorry and shocked to hear about your loss. Did you speak to the manager as advised by Caitlin?

Hi Caitlin,
My PS photos are ready but they're not in softcopy though. We're in the midst of getting them scanned. Will share them once they're ready.
happy.gif

Hi CWS,
Yup, my RH photos turned out great. Love all of them a lot. We took quite a number of pics around the fountain area. Our photographer was really quite creative and captured some unique angles of RH.

It's best to let your photographer have free play over what to focus on. You can shortlist your favorite spots in RH but don't restrict yourself to only those places! RH is simply beautiful everywhere!

Hi CWS,

Looking forward to seeing your pictures! Like you, my e-ring is also 6-claw.
happy.gif
I have a preference for 6 claw, must be the Tiffany's advertisement.
happy.gif
Hehe
happy.gif

TSC,
Do keep us updated on your e-ring. Maybe you can consider writing to Soo Kee even before the 2 weeks are up to put your side of the story on record. Also to make sure that the case does not just stay with a low level employee who does not have the authority to give you a refund or exchange. Don't know who you can address it to but Public Relations should be a safe bet. Or Quality control? Both even? In any event, these letters will come in handy if (touch wood), you have to lodge a claim against them at the Small Claims Tribunal.
