Hi, does anyone know of any nice happy sounding jazz song which can be used for march in? Tried going thru amazon.com but couldnt find anything suitable yet......

Hi nette,

I used "It Had To Be You" from the movie "When Harry Met Sally"...It is jazzy and meaningful...used it for my second march-in.

I love the song Let There be Love
Lyrics as below. Not sure who sang it thou. But I found it to be a very cute song.

Let there be you and let there be me
Let there be oysters under the sea
Let there be wind and occasional rain
Chile con carne, sparkling champagne

Let there be birds to sing in the trees
Someone to bless me whenever I sneeze
Let there be cuckoos, a lark, and a dove
But first of all, please, let there be love

Let there be wind and occasional rain
Chile con carne, sparkling champagne

Let there be birds to sing in the trees
Someone to bless me whenever I sneeze
Let there be cuckoos, a lark, and a dove
But first of all, please, let there be love

Hi JazzFan

hi. I had Let There Be Love as one of my walk-ins, What a Difference a Day Makes as my second walk-in, and It Had To Be You (same version) as my first dish presentation.

For me, I didn't use Jazz music for March-in as my husband wanted to use something else.

But we used Frank Sinatra's songs for the entire reception. His songs add a touch of class to the event. Do check out his CDs. His "Something Stupid" is much better than that by Robbie Williams. U can consider it. Otherwise, he had another song called Love & Marriage.

my hub and i are crazy about barry white (jazzy R&B love ballads)...so we used quite a few of his songs for our wedding:

- I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More, Baby (walk-in song)
- Just the Way You Are
- Let the Music Play
- Don't Make Me Wait Too Long
- Love's Theme (cake-cutting song)

Out of these...one of my most fav is "Just the Way You are"...the lyrics as follows:

**********

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

************

I feel that music/songs are very personal things...so, it's important to choose those songs which carry significant meanings to the both of u

halo nette,

Hi nette,

EMI has a new compilation of jazz favorites. Not bad.

You can also check out the Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald compilation.

Best bet... go for Frank Sinatra.

there's a compilation album called Pink Martini... it's a good mix of slow and cheerful jazz pieces. and yep, Frank Sinatra is best enjoi

Hi nette...I used it for the second march-in to create a more relaxed mood...for my first march-in, I used "Bridal March" from Jonathan Cains...instrumental piece...with a twist to the original version.

Have fun searching for the right song to create that mood which the both of you want.

my hubby has the Pink Martini Album!!!

cant recall the title offhand but i think one of the songs is quite suitable for first dish.
anyway my wedding is in Jan so I'll still have quite a fair bit of time to compile a selection of songs.

basically i want it to be special and to make the march-in more memorable
happy.gif
....been to a few weddings and most of the time they use the song from Bababra Streisand " I finally found someone"....i like the song but I think it's kindof overused

Hi everyone,
Wonder if anyone can help me here. Does anyone know the name of the song played during the promo ad for Brazil during the World Cup? It really sounds very alluring so we r thinking of playing it even though it is not related to the wedding!!
Thanks!!

Hi
For light breezy vocal numbers, check out Lisa Ekdahl's songs like I will be Blessed, Sun Rose, Nightingale from her latest Sings Salvador Poe album... I first heard it when shopping at Empire... light, upbeat tempo + happy, Bjork like child vocals...
they're not too overplayed but very charming! lovely

You can search google for more info on her and see if you like it!

It Had to be You by Harry Connick, Jr from the movie When Hary Met Sally.

hi,
For those of you who found "It had to be you" by Harry Connick Jr too fast...check out Frank Sintra's version. I used that version for my walk in

Does anyone know of any lively/upbeat jazz album that's instrumental (ie, no background singing)? Thinking of playing instrumental pieces during the dinner.

do u girls think it's odd to play classical in the beginning - cocktail & first march in etc.. then from second march-in transit to jazz?

reason is.. my hotel is Goodwood Park hotel.. and we want an English air in the beginning.. but want something more lively & uplifting as the night goes on.
