Hi,
I just had my wedding at Merchant Court on 21 Sep. It was a wedding luncheon. (I saw a lot of couples viewing the ballroom that day.. might be one of you!
)
I must say that the experience with Merchant Court has been one of the best. I have worked with many hotels organising events and such for work and I must say I am very very pleased with the level of service that MC has provided.
The coordinator had been very helpful right from the beginning. They tried their best to accomodate the requests that we have and when they are not able to, they offered alternatives that work best. Many a times, I am pleasantly surprised when they provided me with more than what was stated in the contract. For instance, the number of cards stipulated on contract was 60% but they gave us 70%. I called them on the day before the wedding, requesting for a wheelchair and he made sure that one was booked and ready for use by my guest throughout the lunch. I made a request for a simple set up in one of the smaller function room for tea ceremony and was pleased that he arranged the room nicely with chairs that have seat covers and relatives were full of praise of the cosy effect of the room.
The banquet manager that day was experienced and calmed me and my hubby down, coaching us on when to walk in and how fast/slow we should walk. He also helped with timing music with my emcee, so that we could walk in at the fav part of the song.
All my guests loved the food served. Many of my guests attended another wedding at Raffles two or three days before my wedding and commented that the MC food was much better.
It does make a difference when the people at the hotel are accomodating and friendly. The atmosphere/mood of the ballroom can probably be created by most hotels but if the people working with you on it are not friendly, then it really spoils it all.
MC is great value for money. You probably would not regret it
