Hi, if i m not wrong, for fri its also 35 but maybe u can try to neg with them.
But if 35 & above, still have free 45 min piano music during reception.

Anyone here manage to get complimentary stay for helpers for fri banquet?
 
Shanice, we had 35 tables laid out but used only 34. space was ok. still managed to do long march in.

nehoc, mine was dream theme too! v glad i managed to convince the old folks to do dream theme. all my friends thot its very special...

Does Oriental provide audio/video technician to assist with playback of montage & music or do I have to arrange for someone myself?

My AD is in end Feb. When will Oriental contact me to finalise theme, colours, menu selection? Do i have to arrange it myself?

They will have a AV specialist to attend to it & your coordinator will arange with a meet up with you one mth before your AD.

I choose dream theme as well. Still convincing the oldies to accept it. I also quite worried 35 'black' tables will look a bit 'scary'. Your feedback on the theme was good?

Urs is on which day? 34 tables already include the spare tables? cos my co-ordinator told me Fri package min 35 tables. If I wanna 2 spare tables (which is 35 + 2) then i can only do a 'L-shape' match in. Wat abt urs?

met up with mark over the weekend... he is great... very accomodating... and we will be please to sign up the package with them as soon as he can get back to us on the availability.

very very customer oriented and i feel that it is very important... its the service line afterall. after my very bad experience with another so called reputable hotel... i begin to thank god that mark is our coordinator for the oriental.

looking forward to hear from him... and i hope its good news.
 
shanice, i dont have his contact now... the business card is at home.... even so i cant confirm his business card got his mobile. u know la, alot of people never put their mobile number. always redirect at the main desk.
 
Na2, we had 35 tables laid out but used only 34. so for long march in, the max i think it's about 35 tables. we had ours on a thur evening so min tables were 30 for grand ballroom
 
i highly recommend the pork ribs n the cod fish.. my guests are still telling me..they miss this 2 dishes.. my wedding was in sep..
 
Hi those who have held their weddings at oriental, what songs did you use for dish presentation? What's the typical duration?

my big day is this year's nov. Was thinking of choosing btw "xi" and "love" theme. Will be holding our dinner @ the atrium suites.

Hi Winny, u can choose to have red roses to mix with the champagne roses for yr Love theme, so it doesnt look too "ivory". That's the best of both worlds!

Personally, I'm having pink with champagne. Some use yam roses which is purplish/cream effect, quite nice too. ;)

Has anyone successfully persuaded MO to let you pick your invitiation card design not from the 4 that they have stocked?

We'll most likely be going for the love theme as well, I visited both a love theme setup and a dream theme set up. HTB and I loved the dream theme, but parents preferred us to go with the love theme. To make the love theme stand out more, we will be going for bold dark red rose bouquets. And my EG color is bright tangerine / poppy so that I dont blend in with the table cloths.

Does anyone think having 35 tables and a long march in will make the room look a little crammed? Also, will anyone be moving the grand piano from the foyer into the ballroom after their complimentary pianist plays?
 
Hi baby-jah, not sure if moving the grand piano into the ballroom immediately is feasible, coz understand from Mark that it needs tuning after every shift. Personally, I'm going for abt 30 tables with a long march-in.

.But just wondering if MO was flexible with the cards. I have not printed the inserts yet, actually haven't even had the chance to look around for any printers. I may not be able to get the printing done till March, if I do come across a printer that can do it for cheap, I'll let you know.

i find oriental's invitation really elegant n pretty.. my guests commented that it looks nice..

oriental's contact for printer is Lilart (www.lil-art.com)..

charges includes english &amp; chinese.. as at 2008:
offset print on cream or pink 120gsm inserts
first 200 pcs @ $100, next 50 pcs @ $5

offset printing on vellum (tracing) inserts
first 200 pcs @ $120, next 50 pcs @ $10

all local printers charge for the same amount.. the cheapest is to print at JB..

Not sure if we can share the same printing services (Lilart). Cos mine only have 10 tables so prob will be printing only 50-60inserts only. But the quota for 200pcs is more worth it.

Anyone willing to share to print in bulk? Cheers.

Why don't you try to ask how much they charge per card?</font>

eg. if i have 2 events in oriental, i will need to print 100 inserts each, becos of the different date/timings, the printer will take it as 2 jobs hence charging twice instead of combining the qty.
 
hi all,

Just to let you know, I'm actually printing the inserts myself. am thinking of using the black invites and have found vellum paper with designs. the design shows up on the black and red cards and not so much on the ivory cards. It looks good on all though. hehe it isnt too difficult.

My friends have mistaken Mandarin Oriental with Meritus Mandarin. My parents can't get it right too. Seems like MM has more visibility than MO! I am super worried people may turn up late for my wedding coz of this. Did u have any problem with this? How did you overcome this? Thinking of printing map inserts but who would really look at these??
