Mandarin Oriental Singapore

Hi Starduzz,

I'm in Perth, and could not be bothered to use a printer in Singapore in the end. Bought the vellum paper over here in A4 sheets and did everything myself. I think you'll need to go to stationery shops that a slightly more specialised or to scrapbooking stores to look for the paper.

What about Fancy Papers 120 Genting Lane? I thought of going when i was back, but gave up in the end.

Hi Starduzz, yeah the assembly had to be done manually. I didn't wanna use liquid glue for fear it seeps thru, but the UHU glue didn't stick well maybe coz the papers were too heavy. In the end, I painstakingly secured the inserts with strips of double-side tapes. It was a struggle... knowing how guests are usually not so sentimental about wedding cards after the event, but yet didn't want it to look like a shoddy half-done job.

I think Char's vellum paper is workable. Maybe u can experiment with different ink too. I really liked silver ink but it didn't go well with the cream inserts.

Anyway the envelops with the red cards were in pink. But the inserts given to me were all in cream. I had the Love theme for the ballroom. If you are having the Dream theme - the red invites, to me might be a mismatch. But maybe can still pull off the ivory cards.

On pretty papers, U could also check out crafts / scrapbooking shops like Made with Love (Plaza Sing) or Laine's Papeterie (Wheelock Place).

I have seen many pretty invites apart from MO's. but on the whole, I totally enjoyed my time with them. Have a great time yea!

HI gals,

My hubby and I thinking of choosing the red and black invite cards from Oriental amongst the other colors. However my mum said black card not suitable. I using pink inserts. Now thinking if i should choose red, black and the ivory. red give old folks. black and ivory can give to friends and lesser superstitious relatives, colleagues.

Hi all,

I choose red and black. Some ivory. Actually for the black card, its more like charocal in color. My friends and colleagues love it so much! It's unique and stunning, esp with silver evalops. You will not regret choosing the 'black' card. Anyway, it's for you to decide ya. For family, red still works for them. My theme is black thou.

Cheers.

Hi Mintz

Do you personally go to Lil-Art to talk to them?

And did you have any change on your font and template after the first draft they worked out? And did lil-art charge you on the changes?

Thanks

hi chooi cheang,

yup i did go down personally as i wanted to see for myself the effect of vellum paper against the card. made at least 4-5 rounds of changes and no charge as long as it's before you confirm the draft. they were pretty prompt in responding in fact.

Hi Mintz,

Thanks...
I have personally gone down yesterday and see the effect...

Realized that pink insert is more suitable for Red card, so I changed to pink insert (as my sales manager gave me cream insert initially).

I took Red cards as i planned to go for Happiness theme.

Hi Sieh! I'm also deciding if I should go for Happiness since my parents like red and the centre piece will be there throughout. Something special. But I also like LOVE. Such headache. Kekeke...

BTW, anyone of you know if a normal pen can be used on the guest book? Or must we use markers?

Hi Winny,

Me and my htb went to MO on 15 Aug and happened that Atrium suite was setup with happiness theme. It was very nice in overall. It was very oriental and classy feel. That's why we decided to have this theme without 2nd thought.

Hi Sieh, my MUA is from the bridal studio and I do not have any trial make up. My package does not include trial make up and it's very expensive to have one.

When is your wedding?

I do have a MUA in mind and I really like her make up/hairdo skills. If you want I can PM you her contacts.

Hello, can anyone advise me, when oriental say give us the wedding cards 70%, does it include inserts? Does it means. The hard card and the inserts but the printing of wordings we need to find our own printer right? Can advise me, roughly how much does it cost to print? Like roughly $0.50 per pc kind?

Hi winny, do consider that the centrepiece for the happiness theme might obstruct photo taking... but I agree, its quite pretty oso.

Hi buttons, yes the inserts wil be provided. u arrange printing yrself and usually, printers would charge a flat charge for the first X no. of prints.

Hi all,

this is for couples who had gone through the wedding or in process of having your wedding at Mandarin Hotel...

its about music and montage av testing in prior to your wedding. had anyone encountered problems such as not able to play your music cds (mp3 format) with the hotel's player system?

do they require you to convert the music from mp3 into mpeg format? or perhaps having to bring your own player / laptop??

anyone, kindly advise and share your experience? thanks alot.

Kaistarz, best to chk with yr coordinator. I played an original CD (for dish presentation). Rest of the time, I had a band & towards tail end, used the hotel CDs. One of my friends burnt her CD of songs and during march in, encountered embarrassing glitch. Usually laptop is for playing montage & slideshow and sometimes if unluckyn may be a bit "choppy" coz of lag. I had mine done in dvd format. Whatever the medium be it slideshow, montage or music, best to project from the hotel player.

kaistarz> i prepared my own CD during my wedding last yr.. all tracks in mp3s, wma format.. no problems encountered at all..
a montage can be up to 1 or 2 gb in file size (With many pictures/music, i suggest to store in hdd, it reduced the % of lagging..
best if u can arrange a friend (who is ok with IT/AV stuff) to help test before the event (cos bride n groom wil be super busy)

it has been a yr since my big day at oriental. to celebrate, we book a 1 nite stay. Its so sweet of the reception staff to greet us "Mr & Mrs XX, Happy anniversary", then in the room, we found a letter address to us welcoming us.. I give Oriental 2 thumbs up for after-wedding service..

I'm also thinking about the music played during the banquet.
If I play CD, it will have very limited number of songs so am wondering if Oriental has their own love songs. Anyone of you know about it?

Thanks.. :D

Yes, service was very very good.

Unfortunately, perhaps buffet style wasn't their forte, thus some minor hiccups.
But overall, we had a gd experience with them.

hi all MO brides, just to share advice from the VG and PG, esp those who want to choose the happiness theme.

my VG mentioned that cos the hanging ornament thingy is kind of fixed to table too, so will obstruct photo taking. means guests have to sit sideways , not central. So he did advise me not to go for happiness also.

Hi, I'm wondering if any of you have extra MO wedding cards? Printing my inserts now, but seems like the amount given by the hotel is not enough for me... If u do have, can PM me? Thanks!

hi reinn,

my theme is dream theme and we took the black cards. however for family were given red cards and some conversative guest were given ivory cards.

but the most feedback i gathered is from the black cards. all my friends and colleagues love it.

perhaps you can give it a try too! just my opinons.

cheers.
