Belvedre seems like got a lot of pillars....is there anyway we could arrange to unblock the view to the stage for every tables?

nono... max is 22 tables for ACT 1! ok may be u can cut down the number of ur guests if u really like the ballroom. alot of my guests love that ballroom coz it made them feel very cozy, and i am not that little dot on stage in white/ pink coz they can't see my face. =p

anyway, i think there is another ballroom called mandarin court or something, it's on the same level as the swimming pool. it has 1 or 2 big fat pillars in it that will obstruct the view if you have more than 30 tables (so may be urs won't have obstruction)

Twinnie...Mandarin Court has a total of 6 big pillars if I am not wrong. I booked that ballroom as I need around 35-40 tables. ACT 1 and Belvedere not big enough while the Grand Ballroom is too big.

Thanks for your invitation, I have viewed your photos already. What a coincidence, I had Mr. Chan as our Solemnizer too! But we had the Solemnization at my parents' place in the morning rather than the hotel.

Ok, will try to upload the photos, but may not be very soon as there are always more things to do than usual at the end of a year, plus I'll need some time to figure out the "how to" of the Multiply site. Nonetheless I shall inform you when it is done.

I'm a NOV 2007 BTB, had tentatively booked mandarin court, so far quite positive with the setting & space, Jus not too sure of the food, have anyone here tried before?

yup. ACT is very different from those normal hotel ballrooms. so if you have small banquet, it would be perfect!

The food is excellent! We actually lost count of the number of guests who came up to us to praise the quality of the food, so there is no need to worry about that at all.

actually you can swap the dishes in the menu (they usually have a few other choices if you say don't like the soup or lotus rice) however you might need to top up $ for some special dishes though

It was the 05/06 Weekend Menu 1, I didn't top up $$ for anything.

Hey understand from my coordinator, the expected guest is 25 and guaranteed is 23 tables. In the event, I would only be able to fill 23 tables, i will be billed on that.

Belvedere min 25 tables. Thus, there's shd be a clause saying at least 90% of the tables filled.

ANyone can advise?

yup. you are right. min 25, so that minimum tables you will be charged is 22.5, which is 23 lah. so if say not many guests come, andyou manage to squeeze them into 23 or 24 tables, then you will be charged 23 or 24 tables only.

Thanks all for the reply, i have another enquiry, on the carparks, i was told that we are given 20-30% free parking, however, wat i know from Mr chiok, he mentioned tat it is base on 1st come 1st get basis.. & MM is located central of orchard, believe parking is a problem, & jams is one issue as my AD would be end nov, XMAS shopping period round the corner aready..

Are you sure that we will only be charged on the no of tables we open? I dont tink so as my coordinator told me we pay for the 25 tables even if we didnt open 1 table

yes. I asked for 15 tables, in the end some guests couldn't come and there were 14 tables opened, so they didn't charged the last table.

that means you will be either charged 90% of the tables, or whatever tables you opened that day

so ur case, min is 25 tables right? so the least amt you will have to pay is 23 tables, even if u open 22. but if u open 24 or 26, they charge that amt lor.

90% of 25 is 22.5 ie. 23 tables because they cannot charge you half a table. even if u have 18 tables still will charge you 23. Remember the clause you cut and paste in your earlier post.

"The confirmed number of guests must not be less than 90% of the estimated number of guests. The charges payable by you to us will be based on the confirmed number of guests or the actual number of guests, whichever is higher" this clause is only for your flexibility and not for you to abuse.

For example, you have ESTIMATED 30 tables when you signed up (ie min confirmed tables is 0.9X30=27 tables --> this is the minimum amt of tables you will have to pay)

u invited 320 guests, but turns out that only 275 people are coming. So you CONFRIMED with hotel saying you have 280 ppl or 28 tables, which is still more than the min 27 tables.

This is for the first sentence of the clause.
With me so far? from the moment you confirmed with the hotel, you will know exactly what is the LEAST you have to pay, which is 90% of the tables confirmed. (27 in this case, but because you confirmed 28, now the least amt you have to pay is 28)

Normally hote will have spare or reserved tables for you just in case some guest popped up unexpectedly. so say that day there will be 30 tables set and ready.

So for the second sentence of the clause...

On the day itself there are a few Scenarios.

A) All 275 guests turned up. You can open up 28 pay for 28 tables. The extra table, because it's not opened, will not be charged.

B) 285 guests turned up. You can open 29 tables and charge to 29, or you can try squeeze the extra 5 into the original 28 tables (pls if that ever happened, do arrange with hotel beforehand, if not VERY UGLY) and be charged 23 tables of 10 ppl and 5 tables of 11 ppl. ***ususally you can't squeeze ppl unless it's like 2 or 3 odd ppl***

C) 270 or less people arrived. No matter what the number is, you will be charged 28 tables, because that is the confirmed number of guests.

Now you understand??

This is to protect the hotel from couples who booked really big ballrooms usually for 40 over tables and only open say 22 tables, because if the couple had known they are planning to have 22 tables, they should have used a smaller ballroom instead of wasting the big ballroom space whereby the hotel can use it for other weddings and earn more $$.

Of course to protect themselves again, there's another clause say that the actual number of guests cannot be MORE than 10% or some amount of the confirmed/ estimated guests. This is in case everyone start number small first then increase to 70 tables more than the original amt.

I juz held my wedding on 15/12/06 at MM. Due to school holiday & christmas round the corner most of my guests didn't managed to park their car at the hotel carpark. Also on that day MM got 3 wedding dinner held on the same day. Although i was given 50 pcs of parking tickets i think only used up 50%. Must inform your guest beforehand that they might not 100% get a parking lot even they come early.

i've confirmed booking with MM aready. my AD shall be 23rd NOV 2007, Anyone can advise wat kind of perks can i ask for??? 2 night stays or 1 night stay for helpers?? both? wat else?

Btw can someone advise me on the settlement of payment for the balance amount?? had read the contract that personal chq is not accepted... pay with the angbao money or sign credit card, believe credit card dont allow that huge amount wor.. pardon me for asking stupid qns. hee

Credit card does allow the huge amount. Just call yr credit card co. up and ask for a temp increase in yr card limit, can be done quite easily.
 
Yup, can be done. Normally credit card company alow temp increase for certain reasons, like wedding banquet, funeral, overseas on holidays etc.
