hi jtsy, thanks for the info. actually i did go to BOWS but had a not so satisfactory experience so we decided not to book with M Hotel.

I asked for 2012 pricing and mentioned i was looking at xx date. Saturday dinner. the person's face fell when i said i had only 20 tables. and she just said sorry and they need a min. of 25 tables on weekend. otherwise we will have to pay for 25 tables, which I understand the need to meet the min spend. then SO and I stood there, waiting for her to give suggestions or alternatives like upgrade dishes, or take ansom room etc but she also just stood there and kept quiet. Honestly, I left thinking I really have to pay for extra 5 tables and will not have any upgrade in dishes etc. we felt it was a very bad deal and left the booth.

actually we called the hotel prior to the show. this girl told me that if less than 25 tables, we can add on $100++ to per table. I thought the cost is still ok, so we wanted to book at BOWS. When we asked about this $100++ add on, the lady says because 2012 is quite far away, it's quite unlikely they will offer this add on, so it's not valid.

But then, i know many of you had great experience with M Hotel - probably my incident was a one-off.

hi girls, i went for my finalization last week. Everything was quite okay but we are not so comfortable with them serving the wine and beer only when dinner commences. I'm thinking if we should buy a few bottles of wine, at least for those waiting guests in the ballroom..

have asked some friends, they actually said its fine, don't have to buy..wat do you gals think?

Hi Ivy, hope it's not too late to reply you? It's quite normal to have beer and wine to be served after the dinner commences.. That's from what I've seen during my part time banquet waitress life few years back.. Hee.. And I think you won't want your guests to be drunk so early? =X

Just enquired with M Hotel and they only have the anson room available for my date. Is the anson room ok in your opinion?

Attended the Bridal Show. Everything was fine until the buffet time. The arrangement is screw-up. We were given a very heavy paper bag and my bf had to hold onto it while we were having our buffet lunch. They provided long corridor at level 2 without table. The banquet suite is more classy looking compared to Anson, but its in square shape.

bingqiling - oh i see.. did you sign up for a banquet with M hotel? Any perks? We dropped by M hotel on sat evening and the Anson room is more like function room.. Banquet suite is classier..

Hi Samantha, after you signed up at M hotel, was there any contract given to you? I also signed up with M hotel from the previous roadshow and paid for the 3k deposit but there's no contract given. Is this the norm?

Hi Jet, I did not bargain for anything for my booking. I juz booked coz I find the 1 complementary table quite attractive. Mine had a 1 bottle of red wine for each confirmed table n 2 barrels of beer tat's all. Not sure if the other btb got nego for better offers?

thanks so much for sharing.. was thinking whether to book m hotel or marina mandarin..

M hotel - $968++ ($1139) per table..
MM - $1118nett per table..

im looking at ard 30-33 tables.. afraid that m hotel cant fit.. but MM need a min of 35 tables..

super headache now! any idea how? hehehe..

I didn't sign up with M Hotel. Wasn't impressive. The banquet suite is in square shape. Kinda confused how is the arrangement of table and the march in like.

Hi Jet, M hotel max only 32 tables not sure if it's cramp or not. But I've went to M hotel for 2 weddings b4 n I like their food. Still the same as the food tasting event tat I had at their fair. Not sure abt MM. I've taken the Anson room as I prefer longer march in, even though alot of others might think tat Anson room is like a conference room. It just have to depend on how it is decorated.

I've already received my contract about 2 weeks ago along with guidelines such as Emcee scripts, available songs M Hotel can provide, collection of wedding cards etc...

Hopefully by the time I replied you on this... you will have received yours too... =)

yup... Anson Room has a much longer march-in compared to Banquet Suite... all the guest can see you...

Banquet Suite is a U-shaped march-in... so tables at the back might not be able to see you... but then again.. you can always have live-telecast (whatever it is known as) on the screen...

Yoz HelenAlex... mine is the Banquet Suite... I was initially told the hotel was full for all the dates I have given them… was sourcing for alternately places until I was told of a couple whom had already paid their deposit with M Hotel for Banquet Suite is giving up their package… so I gotten the M Hotel package from this couple… =)

Hi all,
i taken Anson room during Bridal show for 2012...my coordinator make few mistakes in drafting the contract, incld price, food menu, missing some perks which i have to request to sign.so far only paid $3k deposit.

I considering to upgrade to Banquet Suite, cos it is exclusive,(private room, with bridal dressing room,toilet etc). the only minus point is the U shape march.
For Anson, it is a straight march and i have to pursue for a 2nd foc projector at the back cos the guest at the back might not see couple.Minus point is low ceiling but cheaper.

anyone can advise Banquet or Anson better?Going won to sign contract next week but have requested.Is it possible to change before sign the contract?

hi godbird, think u better check for availability of banquet suite n decide before u sign the contract. personally prefers n booked banquet suite too.

Hi rene, thanks. Yup, i have emailed them about the availability of Banquet suite on the same day and alternatve date on the day (next week) as well view the place again.before sign the contract.
Hope there is no penalty, do you heard of any penalty?
For Banquet suite, beside the U turn march in, the other thing bother me about the carpark lift when u need u go to and fro the reception area to
Banquet Suite to register.Any comments from you or anyone abt Banquet Suite?

for d carpark lift thingy, i never thot of it, maybe can put up a signage for directions or maybe the hotel staff will direct accordingly?

my AD is June 2011. from the floor plan, the march-in seems like it's not a U but zigzag instead.. ours is a lunch banquet which is $608++ and we got tis package during the BOWS last year around Oct.

The perks we got are:
1. Complimentary 1 table (min 20 paying tables)
2. $388 nett off total bill (min 20 paying tables)
3. Complimentary 12 bottles of house pour red wine
4. 50% off food tasting for 10 pax (based on 23 tables)
5. Complimentary food tasting with min 25 gauranteed tables
6. Waiver of corkage charge for 12 bottles of red wine brought in

We'll be going for the food tasting soon hope the food are good..

I agree with HelenAlex. Anson room can be a nice cosy affair if it is decorated nicely. Other than the low ceiling, Anson room allows you to use the walkway beside the room for your guests to talk before going into the room.

Hi HelenAlex/Timothy Song, so both of you confirm Anson.How many tables?i Book for 25 tables but i also worried the tables at the back cant see you. I requested for a complimentary 2nd LCD screen at the back. Other than low ceiling, hope the place can be decorated to overlook the low ceiling.

Anyone have nice Anson Picture decorated?

Hi lovers0206, my coordinator is Maria Lam but so far I've yet to meet her. Had few conversations with her b4 n I find her quite pleasant to talk to.. Once encounter is when I realise that I've not receive my contract so I emailed M hotel to enquire. Within a min's time, she called me to apologise on that but I would say that's not their fault as I'm a walk-in customer who book the banquet with the hotel without having coordinator to explain on the details, so they might have yet to assign someone to me..

Maria Lam is a catering sales manager? Mine is asst. manager but still make mistakes in quoting prices when i request to upgrade to Banquet suite.

Gtg down tml to sign contract, but currently tagged to Anson.No penalty if I change to Banquet Suite but may lose some perks signed during bridal shows..

If your coordinator is senior, she got more power to give u perks, mine have to 'check" before she gave and kept making mistakes.quite worried.

well, mine is signed on 13 Mar 11 Show
-complimentary 1 banquet table and
-food tasting.
-1 red wine bottle per confirmed table (25 tables)
1 additional barrel of wine (i upgraded to bridal suite as anson only have normal room)
-1 additional FOC projector screen on the screen(I bargain very long)

how Maria?as in is she able to give more perks and more negotiable?mine is sigh....

Hi Godbird, I remembered when I was looking at Anson Room, I had also asked for an additional projector and screen, but my coordinator told me there will be charges for it, cannot be FOC... =(

Btw, my coordinator is Evangeline. I’ve met her twice. Once when I went down to see the place, and the second time when I went down to BOWS to sign the package. Sweet and smiley.

Hi SC, i paid deposit for Anson for 2012 during BOWS.I kept bargainning for 2nd projector+screen (cost $380) at the back as the front screen is really too far from the back.They finally gave me foc at BOWS.

When is ur AD?

i supposed to sign contract yday but coordinator sick and today said change to Evangeline..sigh..
Well, anyway, i kept thinking of changing to Banquet Suite, look classier..headache..only is u shape march.

hmm..is Evangeline able to give in to more perks?

My AD is 10 Sept. I believe mine was the standard perks which M Hotel offers at BOWS, din get anything more when I signed up.

BTW, Evangeline told my wedding planner that 2011 wedding themes will only be out end May, so arrangements to sight their new themes, if any, can be done in June =)

any BTB having lunch banquet and had the food tasting? how many items do u have for the cold dish? we wanted to add in additional 2 items (the original is only 4 and my in-laws feel tat its too little and dun look nice), but hotel suggested to add 1 more only to preserve the presentation standards.

SC,cool..do show me ur wedding theme when it is ready for ur anson..i book auspicious date with surcharge of $150 per table, kind of regret cos it total ard $4k for 25 tables.

anyway,made an appointment with evangeline to make final decision whether to take anson or Banquet Suite?

Does anyone know Banquet suite have how many projector screen?

Just curious, anyone tried taking holidays such as 25 dec for wedding?

@godbird: have u selected your wedding themes, if not, you might also be choosing from the themes that should be finalizing by end May too… ^^

@all: I recalled when I enquired about M Hotel in the beginning of the year, there was a “lavender dream†theme… I’m not sure if M hotel will continue with this theme this year but if anyone has photos of this theme? Could you kindly email to me, thanks in advance.
