Licence Fee for playing music during wedding

Recently there is news around saying that couple maybe fine for not paying any Licence Fee when they play music during their wedding. My wedding is coming Nov, still deciding whether to engage a Wedding Band or just play music from a CD.

Does anyone know about what kind of licence fee that the couple have to pay during their wedding?
1. Music
2. Live Band
3. Video Montage (cartoon, video, photo)

Are this being paid by the hotel/rest. or the couple?

The only information I get as follow but I'm still confuse.

COMPASS Licence Fee

If i m not wrong, the hotel shld have pay license for playing songs. if u are using their songs, then u can avoid paying the license. u can actually check with ur sales mgr abt it.

as for video montage, u gg to do it urself or u engaging those professional ppl to do it? if u engaging them to do it, they shld have pay for the license.

Coden_Tan> I engage a company to do the cartoon montage, from their portfolio, their cartoon has music. But the photo montage, I'm planning to do it myself. My hotel manager says they pay an annual fee for playing background music, so if i'm playing frm a Original CD, no prob n don't need to pay $50 to COMPASS. I'm not allowed to edit the song into my photo montage, but i can play both video n music seperatly.

I'm engaging a live band which he say that the hotel didn't pay live band licence fee. Does that mean i have to pay $100 to COMPASS?

Hi,
what about the bridal shop edit the photo montage for me and add in songs?
The bridal shop told me, I dont need to pay anything.
But what about at the resturant?
Must I pay for it?

Hi,
I also headache about this...actually i wish to play my favourite song during my wedding dinner. My banquet manager said i can play any cd as long as original but where to find a perfect album?

Can i rip my favourite song from the different original cd into one disc (which i will play during wedding dinner) but show them the original album? Am i silly to do this? HELP!!!

My understanding is that: U'll have to pay for the copyright to both RIPS & compass if u include a song in ur childhood montage or any montage. As for background music that u intend to play throughout the dinner, u can compile the songs u want & burn to a cd, but u must also show the hotel tt u hav tge original cds too.
