Hi Ladies,

Can advice me on my current problem?

I stay over at bf's house over weekend. Started with only Saturday. Then as we (his family and i)get more familiar with each other, there were times that I stayed over on Friday nites too.

Just last month, my workload increased and I have to start working on Saturdays. Also, my language class timing has changed to a weekday nite. So just last month, there were a few times that I stayed over 3 times a week. In between, I went home to get fresh clothes.

This was when I started to feel that I am not very welcome like before in his place.

1. His mum ranted at us when we didn't made the bed before heading out. Maybe we caught her at a bad time.

2. I went over his place to sleep after my nite class. Next morning, i could hardly woke up. In my blurness (half eyes opened), i went out to the living hall to get morning papers. Bf was already up, chatting with his mum. I didnt opened my mouth to greet her. i know is my fault in this
sad.gif
that same day, at nite, i went to their place again. Greeted his mum. But response was not friendly. BF explained, his mum too engrossed in TV

3. Morning, bf told me not to open and close his bedroom door, cos his sister complained it distured her sleep. Hais... last time, i also opened and closed the door to drink water, get papers. But I dun slammed the door, very gently open and close.

Asked my bf is it becos his mum has to wash my clothes (1 bathing small towel, 1 home t-shirt and 1 short) and I bathe at their house? His sis's bf comes over daily and sleep over, but becos his place is very near, so he will walk home to change, no need to bathe or let bf's mum wash his clothes.

Do you think is due to these reasons? Will buying food for the mum helps? Should I just stick back to Sat's nite routine?

Also, his mum will stay with us after we get married and have our own place. Actually, I would very much prefer to stay on our own, but is not a choice. Anyway, in our 1st month together, i already told bf that if he wants someone to really immerse in his family, i am not the right one. i only sought to have a cordial relationship.

Hi Starrry,

If i be you i would slow talk with my bf abt all those unhappy things goin on!!
if he still talking and side his family of being the 1st, i suggest im not the best person in his
heart anymore and i will know its getting worst if married and living with mum in law.
sure if there's a quarelling in the house, do you think the mum will interfere and side his son better! So for me i just "Phew" out of this relationship. A no no for me...

The above example is me. Dun get offended!

Hi delinbb,

wah... u 45kg. Me 56kg leh...
shall we meet one day and become frens?
Can i PM you?

Woah i can see chatters gals is over here..
Thanks for posting!!!

Hi tyra,

Dun think my bf is siding anyone. Decided to buy some food up the next time i go over. Meanwhile, just have to see if things get worse. I understand ur point. I told bf too, if my relationship with his mum is no good, is better we go our own separate way.

Thanks for ur advice.

Starry,

buying food for his mum will do good meh?
ok just try, slowly slowly u see how's the outcome. Dun turn out one day u never buy food or anythin can go sour again!

i know from ur situation and mine too, we have to love the son, love the parents too. (old ppl say lar) hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi delinbb

I dunno if buying food will help improve the relationship. But at least, i did try on my part. If his mum suddenly doesn't approve us, then buying anything won't help.

I also think is okay from time to time, out of goodwill, buy some food to his place, if it makes everyone happy. I am sure you will be delighted if your husband, time to time, does small things to make your parents happy.

This is something i have overlooked, thus i posted my problem here. This morning, i asked my mum for opinion and she also said, i should buy things over since i am staying over at his place out of convenience.

Generally, i think bf's mum is okay, just that sometimes, she has moody periods like any woman. She brewed tonic soup for me to drink when i was sick. That's why I was perplexed when her attitude changed. I just hope to curb the problem before it gets out of hand.

Starry,
Maybe she was having PMS on those days. Everyone has mood swings, we have to close our eyes sometimes.

Hope treating her better eg buy food will please her a bit ;)

Starry,

Let me share my encounter, well those during gf/bf relationship. Of course you must win future mum in law heart mah... so if happen on tat day, i can feel she so glum, i wld give some cash $$, and say to her "Auntie, weekend coming, go shopping with Auntie (dat name), Or your fren (dat name)... then she feels happy liao.

Oso when im free and she's free, we will sat together infront of TV and chat by sharing beauty tips and I even tell her abt SKII products abt those aging, whitening, make up products, anything from gals stuff to her. Hoping she feels younger and smile more to avoid those wrinkles...

One thing, I would not treat her as an old women. i would treat her as a gal fren who at this age needed support, communication and loves.

Tyra,
I've received your PM. But cannot reply you, being rejected. Kindly check pls!!!!!

if not, me will post in this thread since its not P & C... hehe

hey dolly,

dun usually stay over other than the usual saturday nites. Bcos of the need to work on saturdays for the past month and this month, thus sleeping over at his place is really convenient, very near to my workplace. ya... i know is not nice for a girl to sleep over at bf's place. Dun think it will be frequent again as there are changes in my schedule.

you see, we sleep over at each other's place is more for convenience's sake, to facilitate the next morning early outing.

Hais... think the bottomline is still not nice for a girl to sleep over at bf's place. Looks like i just have to sacrifice my sleeping hours then >_<

Starry, in my view, this has nothing to do with gender. If a particular family finds staying overnight is intrusive or inconveniencing, it simply is, doesn't matter whether it is the gf or bf, I guess.

delinbb, rcvd your mail, thanks

Btw i bought the thin stockings from bugis street.
Cost $12 each, i bought 2 colors in the end bargain 2 for $20. hehe ...

doll, i wanted to purchase VS product but i need some advice. according to their size chart, the sizes are not fitting me - neither here or there. if i get one size smaller as you mentioned previously, most probably it will fit?

i asked my fren who purchased VS product before but it does not fit eventhough she had 1 size smaller than her usual size.

Gallie, what VS items are you looking at?

I only get their short-sleeve tops, short skirts and night wear. There are items which I strictly don't get - long pants (too long and rise is too high), long-sleeve blouses/shirts (sleeves are too long), or bras (most are padded and my figure not full enough compared to average cacuasian).

You see, VS retails several labels. I don't fit in all size S tops, for example. Some I have to get XS.

oic doll...i am interested in getting some of their tees/tops, shirt/blouse & sleepwear..

bras are nice but just afraid it may not fit nicely..

Good morning ladies....

I found out that MANGO coming soon has for "HE"
I mean for the guys clothing.. cool man!

Will look out for that. Cos bf always bored when i shop for the "HER".. lol

Hi Beary, (i once post this on 3rd April, in case you left out) i post again just for you!!!

A bit of motivation for you:-
(Btw i eat a little portion of evry meal, make it 6 times (small portion) equivalent to 3 big meals a day.)

Cut calories
A gram of fat contains twice as many calories as a gram of carbohydrate or protein. Reduce high-fat foods in your diet, choose lower or fat-reduced options, use cooking oil and spreads sparingly and remove excess fat from meat.

Include lower calorie options in your diet, such as fruit and vegetables. Bulky fibre-rich foods are also a good choice.

Try switching from white to wholemeal bread, or choose a wholegrain breakfast cereal.

Think about portion sizes
Portion sizes have increased over the years, especially when it comes to ready meals and snack foods. This means we're consuming extra calories, but we adapt quickly to eating bigger portions and don't tend to feel fuller as a result.

Downsize potatoes, pasta, rice and fatty and sugary foods, and super size fruit and vegetables.

Watch what you're drinking
Cut sugar-rich drinks and alcohol, and instead choose water, tea, coffee or artificially sweetened drinks.

Sugary drinks add extra calories to your diet but don't make you feel full or satisfied.

Keep a balanced diet
Remember the principles of a balanced diet - include plenty of fruit and vegetables (at least five portions a day), unrefined foods with more fibre, lean meats and low-fat dairy products.

Get active
Becoming more active doesn't necessarily mean sweating it out in a gym. Instead, try the following:

Choose activities you enjoy and try to spend more time each week on these
Incorporate more activity into everyday life
Buy a pedometer and increase the number of steps you take each day

Beary, do you have a target weight and timeline? Or do you just want to shed a few pounds for your general well-being.

I have lost 7 kg over 3 years and still able to maintain it.
