Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Durga - WHAT!!!!???? She jus confirmed with mi that mine's at 10. Probably u wanna check out wif her.

Rany - Not to worry abt your outfit. I think every brides do stand out.. so will u. I've always liked white or cream sarees. FH dont let know mi very clumsy.. always spill stuffs on to mi! Mi jus cross mi fingers that I dont do any boo boo act on the day.

SK - I thot u hv settled ur outfits? But if really intend to get one, do try D'sire. Been there once and their outfits are really worth the $$.

Sphire - yup, i've settled my outfits but am considering an outfit change for the dinner...will most definitely check out D'sire

Hi SK, they din really have many evening gown, thought i only saw cheongsam actually. They mite have. You want to call them to check - its 63233350...

SK, Avana is the one at Lido basement right? They've got gorgeous evening dresses...always ogle..bit ex for a normal dinner..but evening gown for wedding, justified!!! Havent been there for a while though. The other place, which mite be a bit more affordable..maybe Celia Loe..? They had some nice ones about $300+ when i was lookin abt a 2yrs ago..haha..dunno if things have changed now..My colleague also went to Angel Atelier, a bridal studio at Bugis, and she bought a gown at about $200..so depends on what you looking for... How about Olive Suite? Think Rany got her ROm dress there...

Chick, i haven't been to these boutiques but am going to try to check them out soon. I'm looking for something a little grand. My budget would be around $500-$600.

happy.gif

Wondering if i shld have a program card for the non indian guests.

Has anyone used Kenneth from tsangstudios. I am really keen on hiring him for the AD.

hellow .. everyone . I havent logged on for so long . So many posts !! really need time to catch up .
Neway, was wondering if anyone had engaged any malay wedding consultants ?
How much is the average price for wedding decors, inclusive of tables and chairs ?
I have yet to arrange for my decors and food .

Instead, i started looking out for wedding favours. Saw a personlized heart shaped bag . Thought of filling it up with chocs or sweets.
Enquired thru the website, and they have emailed me the quotation.Price seem very reasonable to me
But then again, i have yet to speak with the person incharge or even look @ the item .

I got to know this freelance person who does mehendi . She charges below market price . Not really sure of her work .

Shan,
I'm gonna use Vanan from Pandora. I only saw pics in his friendster. He quoted ard $1000+ (not sure) for simple decor & $2500 for grander deco.

I've not met him personally yet.

Do recommend the wedding favour website ! Thanks

I dunno...I only know that I want a purple & black colour theme...He said he's doing a deco at changi chalet on April 7th. The couple spent $8000 for deco!!! With laser lights & all! Yikes! He invited us to come down & take a look.

Do take a took at his friendster profile so that u've an idea

hi ladies,

brokenbudgie - Thanks, will check them out too.

Yvannia - I've hired Kenneth as one of my photographers. I've met him and both my hubby and i are very comfortable with him. Liked his work.

Brokenbudgie, SK, Sphire - Thanks for the comments re. me blending into the bkgrd. Or NOT in this case.
happy.gif
Feeling a little relieved now.

SK - Re. ur evening gown, Olive Suite is good if you're looking for a simple elegant design. If you prefer to have the gown embellished with stones, embroidery or lacework, they don't do such. But there's a place on the 2nd floor of Delfi Orchard that has a wide selection of evening gowns. Not sure what its called and never walked in but they seem to have a wide range. They are located just next to the escalator and their display window is visible fr outside the bldg.

Yvannia - Good luck with the shoot this weekend. Remember to equip urself with water. Otherwise will be dehydrated and feeling gluggy. Sunaina fr A1 Fashion is nice and helpful and yeah, they've really got heaps of Sherwanis there.

Angelic - So does this mean you've decided on a venue?

Hi Rany,
Hehehe. No luck in the venue part. Tha ballrooms in clubs are ranging from $2000 onwards for rental alone or dates taken up or no indian food! Today I'm going to Singapore poly guild house ballroom to take a look.Looks nice on d website.$600 only. I hope it turns out well

Angelic - if your concern is the menu and you want Indian food, why not book out an Indian restaurant? There are some nice ones around. And it would fit your budget by the time you add in the catering to your venue rental.

Our crowd is big-200+ pple. We need stage & room for march in. We can only do that in a ballroom. Chevrons & safra clubs dates are taken up. So if we still can't get the venue, we'll change the date as its not official yet.

Hi SK- I've spoken to kenneth gotta go down to his place to see his works and do the paper work. We're definitely taking him. I like his works too.Its like every picture tells a story.

Rany-Thanks any other advice on the shoot? is there anytin else i should do or bring for the shoot?Pls advise

Deco- Probably hiring Vanan for pandora 2morro. Yet to meet up though.
I especially liked khaj's decor but sadly they are taken up for the entire year! Vanan's nice and classy too...

Caterer- will probably go confirm Riverwalk Tandoor this weekend if not next.We get to decide the menu right? Can we contra dishes we dont want with others?

Gals,
One question. I've seen some gals just taking photographer for their pre wedding shoot. Is it a must to book through a bridal company for outdoor & indoor or just hire a photographer? What are the differences between the 2 options? Advantages & disadvantages?

Thanks!

Hi Angelic - usually the photography is a separate add-on component in the bridal shop's package, where the price depends on the photographer you choose. (Unless the shop has an in-house photographer, then not much choice.) So if you have someone you want to work with, you don't have to take up the photo part of your package. Price-wise, I'm not sure, but when I contacted some photographers, it seemed that they quoted higher than if I'd gone through the bridal shop.

Angelic - Brokenbudgie is right. The bridal studios usually have photography packages that'll be cheaper than what you get if you engaged your own photographer for the pre-wedding shoot. But it's not a must to go with the photography offered by the BS. It's just that, it's alot cheaper and convenient.

Pros of engaging your own PG - You are free to choose a PG who's style you really like. If he's also covering your AD, then you'll have a uniform style for all your photos and albums.

Cons of engaging your own PG - More ex and you have to coordinate everything like MUA, PG, bridal outfits, suits, to come together for the shoot.

Yvannia - Hope you get to read this before ur shoot. Actually, I'm not a pro when it comes to shoots because i haven't done mine yet but just imagining it, I'd suggest you bring

spare contact lenses so that your eyes aren't irritated by the later part of the day

facial blotters and tissues so that you don't end up with a too shiny face after your MUA has left

compact powder for the same reasons above

extra bobby pins just in case your hair comes loose after the MUA has left (touch wood!)

lipstick to touch up, hopefully you get one the shade closest to what the MUA had used for you

pair of slippers/slip ons when your feet need a break from your high heels

one of those portable mini fans to keep cool in this weather - esp if you're doing outdoor shoot

hi gals...anybody tried make up o other services with 'looks'?(the shops name)? MUA name is bubbly...her shop is beside stylemart....

hi sphire,
shanti called yest. i m down for trial on 6 May at 12 noon.
anyone heard of segar from bhairavi creations for decoration?

hi ladies,

rany - Thanks for the info. Will check this place out too. M actually about to fly off to Geneva for work in an hour. Will be back next Monday and then can get back into wedding planning mode. Btw, when's ur photoshoot?

Angelic - Like you, i was confused on whether to sign up with a bridal studio or get my own photographer and co-ordinate the whole shoot on my own. Found that it easier and cheaper with a bridal studio. However if you arent working on a tight budget and like the work of a particular PG, the co-ordinate your own shoot.

Yvannia - Hope your photoshoot went well. Enjoyed yourself?

Just to share with you ladies, I went for my photo selection last Friday. Had a hard time selecting photos to keep within the limited number of pics in my package. Hubby and i made a decision to not go crazy and only keep the best ones possible. In the end bought 6 additional photos. As we went for the smaller sized album (10x12 as opposed to 12x15), our package came with 42 pics so in total we have 48 pics in our album. We also decided not to go for the digital album (the one with the graphic effects). So ours is the simple one full photo per page, album. Hubby and i also decided to go with the 3-in-1 potrait.

raji - welcome! Tell us more about your wedding! Are you having a south or north indian wedding?

chat with you ladies when i get back!

Hi gals,

I've another decorater's namecard. I did see his work when I went to pay the hotel deposit. A couple was having their wedding reception in the rooms so I popped in to take a look. Simple & elegant deco. Here's the contact no:

HI everyone!

Thanks so much Rany for the info
happy.gif

My shoot on the 6th had to be cancelled cuz after reaching the studio i suddenly got a migraine attack.
sad.gif

Thankfully the folks at the studio were very understanding and offered to postpone it to the 7th...so yes i went for my shoot on the 7th from 10 am til 8pm. Overall it was really fun and cuz it was raining i had to change my venues for the outdoor shoot to Singapore Arts museum and Fort Canning ;)which initially was at Sentosa and sumwhere behind ST andrews JC(as recommended by the PG)

Weather was favourable though it was raining i was happy about it cuz the weather was cool...no sweat!;)

Had 4 gown changes (2 wedding gowns and 2 evening gowns) and 1 traditional wear. Thank god i didnt have to wear heels.PG told me i'm tall enough so can stick to flats
happy.gif
that made things alot easier. No aching legs ;)

I also had 5 hairstyles for the 5 outfits and the MUA (Lydia) she did a great job!!! The make up looked very natural. She really did a fantastic job on bringing out the eyes. She blended colours very well 2
happy.gif
The makeup stayed throughout the shoot. If u guys want a trial she charges $80.Anyone interested in her contacts let me know.

The photographer(Jeffrey)made us feel at ease.Thats the reason we chose to do it with this studio.Though its not very well known I feel it catered to all my needs
happy.gif
This saturday is my photo selection.. Will definitely have a hard time selecting cuz i took a peek at the shots and i liked almost all of them

Hi Ladies... looks like lots of work goin around here.

Debbie - yours is after mine. Shanti is goin to be in a fix position if both of us intend to engage her.

Rany - wow.. the photo checklist is really good.. I must also take it down. When is your photoshoot? Mine is tentively on 14th July. Got to confirm again.

Raji - Welcome on board. Urs is a real hot date. Hows your preparations so far?

Yvannia - Ur attack must be really bad. Thankfully they had a slot the next day. Hope u enjoyed your shooting. Envy u tht u dont need heels. Guess every bride suffer becos of heels always.

Angelic - If u want those indian favors, tht only plc is little india. I guess my ILs will make a trip to india or m'sia to get the favors.

Hi Yvannia... wow.. sounds like u had an intresting experience with your photoshoot.. from reading abt your experience i'm actually wondering if i should do one..

if u need a bhangra group. i know of a really good one.. Shere Punjab www.sherepunjab.net
i know i'm a little biased towards them.. but i honestly honestly think that they are way better than most of the other troops in town, my personal opinion... my soceity uses them for every function...

also, me too met up with a decorator over the weekend... www.the-wedding-chateau.com liked their style.. they were really very different.

also lucky u with the flats instead of heels.. i'm a shorty so need heels! on that note, does anyone know where i can get really pretty high heels.. looking at at least 4 - 5 inches...i need them in gold. thanks!

I didnt intend to get mine taken either.Afterall weddings are a once in a lifetime affair and i feel its all these that you look at and refresh your memories over the years (",) just my 2 cents worth.

Finally have a lil time to write at my wedding.

Everything started March 25 with my engagement wic was the 60s theme....we wanted our folks and guests to fall in love all over again wid tunes to lovely hindi songs of the 60s. Reviews were amazing..many said they felt they were in dreamland and reminising good old days.

Then the wedding started....the norm ceremonies...if u're SIKH U'D KNOW the numerous ceremonies u have to go thru. Well for our non sikh frens.... it started with April 4th the oil ceremony in the morning followed by mehndi for myself, family n friends.

The evening was the pre-wedding celebrations kinow as the Sangeet. It was a full on punjabi cultured event...i wore a lungi, typical costume of a punjabi apart from the punjabi suit. My fiance n i oth wore green shades.

The next day was the bangles ceremony at my maternal uncle's home. The home was so beautifully decked up...i was so in love wid the decor. My sis did the decor with the help of my lil cousin. Tat was another nite of folk songs and live singing by my aunts n uncles...not to forget dancing. Finally got my bangles on by my maternal uncles n brothers. I wore a punjabi suit.

Finally the day came April 6th...family left early for the temple and me at home getting dressed up....at 9.30am... my prince rode in to the temple on a horse and ceremonies started. I missed the horse but heard so much abt it....looking forward to the pixs n video. I arrived just as the groom party were having breakfast. Got the team to wisk me off to the waiting room. There i got my headscarf adjusted by my cousins and as we started my uncle came up to get me...."quick they r asking for the bride"...yup i was still getting ready...actually final adjustments on my headscarf so tat i'll be comfortable. Took a deep breath and made my way to the congregation hall....was so nervous as i was lead in by my brothers n family. Sat beside my fiance and didnt even look to see if it was the right guy but u know wat we managed some footsie and i confirmed it's him alrite....i was really stressing out as i sat there...keept taking deep breaths and finally when we had to take our sacred rounds, i was starring at my fiance...husband to be's feet as he was rushing thru the rounds....he had to be slowed down many times by my family who were helping me with my rounds...tat was cute. We finished our forth round and now i was next to my husband. Lunch followed the temple celebrations and by 5pm we were both off to my new home. It was a teary affair but i managed it. Miss home but now this is my home. Anyway, more ceremonies at my new home (eagerly waitng to go off to the hotel). We managed to get to the hotel at 8.30pm but quickly freshened up and went out as husband n wife for the first time by 9ish. We had to meet frens who travelled from overseas for the wedding. Had drinks and finished really late. Thankfully the reception was the next day. Oh ya i wore a red lengah wic i order from Calcutta. I loved it so much.

Kismet the Gazebo solemnisatin was amazing. We had like 90 guests at the Morten's Bar, a Martini Evening was the theme. I wore a mustade saree while my husband wore a Mossimo earthy brown casual suit. Hey Kismet Praji Jasbir solemnised it. We exchanged self written promises to each other and it was truly from the heart. It was really a very beautiful ceremony.

That was at 5pm and by 6.30pm guetss moved to the cocktail area at the Oriental Ballroom. I went off to get changed. I changed in to a gown made from a bridal lengah i bought in Amritsar. Had actually bought the lengah and stitched in Amritsar for my temple wedding but i changed the colour theme along the way and got the lengah stitched into a gown by a designer just 1mth before the wedding. It was magenta pink.

Oriental coordinators were just so excellent. everything was so perfect. The tree VIP tables were served in cute tiny indian serving ware for each of us. Even the buffet ware was gorgeous. The serving ware just arrives begining of April from what i was told by my coordinator. They got it from Rajisthan. It was really something to talk abt. My guests kept complimenting the food and the way it was all set up....veg & non-veg. They were very impressed at the service and trust me i'm still getting calls n messages abt how great the evening went...it lasted till 4am. Well yes we had to pay the hotel for additional hours but it was all worth it. Sphire u need not worry abt Oriental....just speak to them and trust me they will make sure u get ur dream wedding. Even the favours were so lovely....even my photographer asked me for it. We had a candle stand with roses for the ladies and rose wine stoppers for the guys. We walked into the ballroom by 7.45pm with our vows as voice-overs...didnt want the normal music playing. We recorded our promises to each other and played it as we strolled in and up the stage and as the voice over ended, we cut the cake. Sphire oriental did the dry ice effect beautifully. The nite had more surprises....the best was when my husband sang for me...i was so shocked...didnt know when he got all that planned...plus our first dance...i didnt even know we had a first dance or when he picked a song or where he got the time to speak to the DJ. It was all a dream come thru. I'm so in love all over again...ok gotta go hubby wanna sleep...tok soon.

Hi Piggy - Its great to hear tht your wedding is really eventful. Every step tht u took and went thro has finally paid off. Really happy for u. Cant wait for mi to step the aisle. Where did u get the horse from?? Zoo?? Its really unique.
Mi actually went down to Oriental to take a look at your setup. But floor manager did not allow.. understand he's situation. Wishing you a happy married life with lots of surprises to be unfold.

Yvannia - Drink lots of water girl. If u feel uncomfortable or suspect a migrain attack, just close ur eyes and place warm towel on top ur head. It helps.. I get migrain often too and it affects my eyes real badly.

happy.gif
. And admire the fact that your hubby took the trouble to go all out and get a horse! And the point about having your vows played as you marched in was excellent! Here's wishing you all the very best in life
happy.gif

Hi Jan,
I saw Kuna. He quoted us a package for $11,000+. Includes everything from VG,PG,round tables & chairs with covers, wedding favours, car rental with deco, flower arc & food & etc. He only provides Komala's food. $8 for 19 items. We told him we dun want so much food & will be cutting down on it. Anandha bhavan quoted us $10 for 13 items. Those with more budget can consider anadha bhavan coz of the fd taste & quality.
My bf will call up our temple to see if he's the official decorater or we can choose our own.we hope to cut down on the cost.

wow piggy... wished i hadn't missed the wedding morning now! but i'm soo happy for you! super thrilled that you guys have finally taken this step in your life!

Hey SK.. when u getting back?

Also, anyone know where i can rent a car for the wedding day.. cheap please.. budgets way out of whack! thanks heaps...

Can anyone recommend me any places in S'pore or JB to get nice & cheap indian wedding favours. My deco guy is giving one organza bag with a heart shape box for $1.60. I'm looking for nice incense stick holder or something like that. Where do I source for them?

What r u gals giving as favours?
Tks!

Kismet - what's your definition of cheap gal? The Kuna wedding decorator guy quoted us $350/day. Also you asked about gold heels..about 3-4 inches, i saw some diamante ones at Hue, raffles city or Novo (suntec, marina, etc). So nice, but too high for me.

Angelic gal - favours cant really help, ILs got it from India. Incense stuff you can get from Bangkok! Noe anyone going there? Else go online?

wow.. this is one very exciting thread.. i have been away for a few days and so much sharing been going on.. cool

Sphire- ya, i think she will be in a tuff position supposing we both want her.. well, will see how gd her trial make up is before confirming anything.. now wondering if i shd let my BS do the PS make up as well?

Congrats, piggy! guess what? my fiance was the one who was helping with the sound system that day. he mentioned abt the grandeur of ur wedding. so cool.. congrats, babe! =)

hey, i am also looking for decorators.. kinda decided to go with KM Wedding services cos they are affordable and quite ok bt i dun mind gtg more suggestions.. hehehe..

ya, i also looking for lobang to get car. if i wana take from my BS, it will be 300 bucks more.. many ppl said that is a bit too steep and i feel so too.. help me out, gals!
