Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Hi Jun, yah I'm trying to stick to the sashimi... Was tempted by the sushi but managed to refrain!
Doing lean meats and vege now. Low carbs!

Hi Pam, more time means you can plan ahead! Book everything before things get snapped up. Most people these days plan their wedding 1.5 years in advance! ;-)

Ladies... must say planning a wedding is real tiring thingy.. am also a DIY bride.. stressed up!! Babes any reco on VG?? I am thinking of engaging a chinese guy ... but am worried will he be able to capture the imp parts in a traditional temple wedding..

Hi Helita >> Proof reading is done over the email. So I've had no problems with that. My weddings events are spread between Sept and Nov.

Hi Jun >> What kind of gowns did you go for?

Need to decide on florist, menu, buy shoes, find wedding car!

Hi, Tnx Jessica,
I went to Menaga, very nice but my friends told me that she will sent her assistant if
she is busy.I also tried VG bridal and somebody recommended Maliga. She is free lance , need to try her too. Also looking for good henna artist.VG's henna work looks very nice. Hi Helita, Good to hear that you went to KM.But I don't know about their car deco as we didn't book that service. Will
keep u updated if know abt it.

Hi Jess -> Ok thx for e info babe.. ya wedding spread between sept and nov.. gosh!! thats pretty long.. you must be v stressed up now.. are most of ya things done?

Hi Jun -> Yeah dear!! 2dae met the VG and discussed.. showed him some sample as well..hope he gets the whole picture.. thx gal
happy.gif
..

Hi Jitisha -> Hmmm thats what i heard too.. I also heard Menaga is kinda rude. I find VG bridal good. She is a very nice lady.. well esperienced too.. Tomo am going for a trial with her.. U are looking a makeup artist for a traditional look or a modern style? Saree or gown?? Abt e car deco it's ok no prob gal am finding a florist..too

Ladies.. any ideas for a door gift???

Hi Ladies, am a March 2012 bride! Starting preps now! Must say this forum is very helpful!! Traditional Ceremony is on 11 March at Mariamman Temple. Reception is the following Saturday on 17 March but am having lots of challenges with getting a venue cos we want an indian buffet menu with 15 tables. Most larger hotels require a minimum of 20 over tables for their ballrooms. Absolutely love Mandarin Oriental but they're pretty ex! approx 150 per pax..Any suggestions?

any rec fr henna artist??
I wanna try one out first fr an upcoming wedding, before i can decide for mine. Mine not so soon.hehehe

So far i really like SJ henna!! someone recommended saheli but when i tried, the colour was so light.
Syraskin also has super dark henna colouring when I tried her.

Any recommendation? I like the arabic inspired designs. Full but not very detailed.

how long do your henna stains normally last for. when i tried with shama(or shamu??) cone, it faded away only after 6 days. and after 2 weeks, the stain is still there but very very faint. i like that alot.

Hi Jun,

Unfortunately Holiday Inn is unavailable on the date i'm looking at, that was one of our first choices..checking out traders hotel and grand copthorne waterfront now!
happy.gif

Hi Jun >> Wow your dress sounds lovely! well done on the weight loss.

Hi Helita, Jitisha... Honestly personally I dont find Menaka's makeup all that great. But she is really skilled with hair and saree tying. She's nice but really "auntie auntie". My trial makeup was acceptable, but nothing to shout about. But do note she's got a wide selection of bridal jewellery. However, if she is going to send her assistant, I say SKIP! =)

Hi Girls,

Goodness, once again I realised that I have missed soooo many updates. Din get any email alerts. No wonder!
sad.gif

Anyways, was also super busy with my ROM which took place on 9 July. It was simply fab! Loved every sec of it and am missing it sooo much now. Some peeves here and there but all is good!
Just to refresh...
Venue: One Degree 15 @ Sentosa Cove
Food: Moghul Mahal - Good stuff! Guests loved the spread.
Dessert Buffet: By club - Simply gorgeous delicacies! Everyone was so excited with the array of sweet goodies. My fave!
happy.gif

Bridal Studio: Whitelink - Great team. Had my photoshoot in Bali. Super fun. Pics turns out fab.
PG & VG: 10eyesgallery - Awesome guys. Great to work with. Love our MTV docu video which all the guests enjoyed. And they were so nice to offer a complementary pre-wed shoot. Had so much fun. Great effects and pics!
happy.gif

MUA: Sharvani Bridal - Prefer her trad make up to her modern style. Quite limited in her creativity for my modern dresses.. But not a big deal cos I knew what style I wanted with my wedding and evening gowns, so bought my own birdcage veil and hair accessories. Her trad jewelries are pretty tho. Nice & creative saree tying. She tied a lengha style for me which reli brought out the beauty of the saree.
happy.gif
Only peeve is that she is very into using wigs...which I detest. Erm..I coloured and treated my hair for a reason ah..haha. My bridesmaids freaked out when they tot I was gonna allow her to put the wig on me. Hilarious sight. LOL...
Decor: June Florist by club and we engaged extra decor by Sountracx. Pretty good stuff.
happy.gif

Favors: Yovell - gold majesty key blank. Alot of amusing yet appreciative response from guests.
Shoes: Essex Walk and Anna Nucci
Engagement Ring: Citigems
Wedding Bands: Cartier
Outfits: Wedding & Evening gowns by Whitelink and splurged the extra savings on 2 designer sarees for customary engagement.
Invitation cards: Self designed with alot of personalisation and love.
happy.gif
Got them printed in JB, Citysq.
Wedding Cake: Pine Garden - Din go for the conventional tiered cakes and common cupcake tiers..Went for a Profiterole tower. Personalised the design according to our purple and blue theme..was a real art piece on the stage. Super pretty. Loved it.
happy.gif

Stayed in Sentosa 3 nights..the eve, actual day in bridal suite and booked the yacht the next day for a post ROM celeb with cousins and friends. Had a whale of a time. Like I said girls, we loved everything abt it that we miss it sooo much now. Hahaha...:D

Now need to work on our trad which will be at Tank Rd temple next Mar. Family is planning to go to Chennai this Nov. Hopefully all turns out just as smash.
happy.gif

Pending prep for the trad wedding...apprecciate all ya recommendation and reviews...
Decor - My MIL is very onz abt their family friend Guna to decor the hall.
Caterer - looking ard
Favors - looking ard
MUA - Susie (MIL loves her and I too feel she did a great job with my SIL earlier this yr for her wedding).
Henna - quite clueless..din quite love Susie's girl for the henna
Saree - Checkin out India in Nov
Invitation - Checkin out India in Nov
PG & VG - might go with PIL's suggestion on an Indian PG/VG and perhaps engage a chinese team on our own for the journalistic shots...
Erm...have I missed out on anything? ;]

My family was suggesting a reception after the temple wedding but my hb and I are not keen. V tedious to go thru the entire prep agn. We prefer to go on a longgggg Europe HM..Hehe...So need to convince my family to do away with the recept.
happy.gif

Oh ya, as for my weight loss regime if some of u recall I was battling.. managed to lose ard 6kg...got alot of compliments on my weight loss. My aunt even said I look like another person. Madness, but v happy to hear. I actually did it the wrong way by cutting down on my meals. Paused my gym membership cos no time. Gotta resume it and work on my next 8kg weight loss.

Wah, super longggg post..pardon me girls. Hope all of you enjoy all ur prep...best time of our lives!

Hi Jun, thanks for the warning! Can share some details on your bad experience at traders?

Plush84: a One degree 15 wedding ROM sounds like a dream! how many pax did u have? Possible to share approx how much per head it cost?
Am a March 2012 bride too! 11 Mar to be exact - at Mariamman Temple. When is urs?

What abt SJ Henna? chk out her website and facebook. Very nice! she's not open for bookings for next year yet though!
happy.gif

Rani: The food is really bad.. eating outside taste better..

vege was watery..

not nice at all.. even the chinese food was bad..

not tasty at all..

Rani: Will check out SJ, thanks!
happy.gif

Yup, it was really a dream come true for us too! Since, it's once in a lifetime, we thought just go for it..Hehe..:D We were a clueless couple walking inside the BOWS wedding fair at Dhoby Ghaut open field and chanced upon this venue. It was abt $110++/pax..and they threw in some perks since we took it up on the spot.
happy.gif
Ours was 180 pax.
My trad will be on 3 Mar at Tank Rd Temple
Just a week apart.
happy.gif

Happy planning lovelies!

jun, wow ur mua has nice photos but can she do dark india skin? cuz i will need to hunt fr makeupatist fr my inlaws n relatives on my day as i dont want my makeupartist to be rushing with them too

My make up artist is very expensive.. i won't advice u to use her for your in law.. she probably charge $200 per person.. For bridal she is charging $800 per session..

I am chocolate skin..

Make up artist for my mom, in laws and friend. i am using Facework by Juliana Naim.. search her in fb.. However, she cannot do any saree tying..

Hi Plush, sounds like a wonderful ROM! Congrats!!

Where did you buy your birdcage veil from? I found a lady in Singapore who charges SGD60 for a veil!!!! Planning to order mine online.

Jessica!!! Yesterday i went to see my Ivory Fish Cut Lenga at my mom friend house.. she bought for me from Mumbai! efriendship.in

Guess what!!!! My hip is too big for the fish cut! missing of 2 inches!! i need to lose the 2 inches of send back to india to add cloth!

Sooo SAD!

Jessica: If they lose it, the artwork is gone... u know what i mean..

they make this fish cut mermaid lengha frorm scaatch.. from plain silk and put the art work on it..

Oh darn... Have you tried going to Minora Centre? I think it is made to measure. They should have some glitzy ghagras. Alternatively you can rent from Saheli Beauty Parlour. They seem to have many pretty ones.

Jessica: I am not going to buy another one.. I have already paid for this one and make it from scratch.. I will have to lose more weight or send back to india in end september if i did not manage to lose 2 inch..

I saw your rant about your personal trainer.. wow u hired one! was it expensive? how is your result?

heya! yah I decided to try this lady. And she cancels on me every alternate lesson. Total waste of money. Zero results. Super duper ex SGD90 per session. I didnt even lose 1kg. If I stuck to my ABT classes I would have lost more. Shouldnt have quit.... She's trying to get me to join her bootcamp classes... NO WAY MAN...

You should have got my bootcamp trainer to train you since u have money to spend!

at least i can recommend you who is good!

when is your wedding again?

If not, you just got for my bootcamp 3 times a week.. for sure you will see the result!

i am going to wake up at 4.30am before my fasting start to do shaun T!

Hi Ladies, anyone knows good photographer and videographers to recommend? Not the indian ones though... saw one videographer i really like but he's already booked on my dates!
sad.gif
How is everyone's prep going? i have 7 months to go and other than book the temple and priest, i have done nothing else..still ding-donging on the reception venue as wel!! sigh..

Jun >> I wont survive bootcamp =( I did one trial session and almost died! haiz... I am gonna try runnning and dieting for now. Looking out for a reliable trainer for now. Hopefully can find one before November! sighs need to tone the tummy and arms...

Rani >> what kind of reception venue u looking for?

Ladies, please ensure you get your terms and conditions laid out when speaking to your choice caterers. I had such a bad experience with the caterer at my temple wedding a few months ago. Although the circle is quite small and you know who the big players are..when you think its a give and take situation, it can be to your disadvantage.

Im not sure if im allowed to reveal the name cos I do not want to get sued. But please feel free to PM me. I can share my experience.

Hi Jessica, we're looking at hotels..we both work long hrs so we need all-in-one venue..we were looking at traders hotel previously and now, just when we thought we've settled on grand copthorne, my fiance's friend says she may be able to get a good deal for us at another hotel..so we're waiting for that to come thru nw...

the first one is cheaper than the second one.. they know how to work your body.. both super slim and stamina super good! they are also responsible trainer! never missed our lesson.. even gave me morning call to ask me to go bootcamp.. u can try her as personal trainer..

Zeraphyn > Oh no that's worrying. Really makes it so hard to find good service providers. Decided to stay safe and go for the tried and tested. *fingers crossed*

Jun > thanks! I will certainly consider them!

Jess: Pleaes consider them.. they are the trainer for win to lose.. i am sure they can help u.. i also inform them about u.. rather than u hire someone u don't know and no recommendation at ur own risk..

by the way, wanna share something.. i scrap my polaroid idea and change to instant photo.. got a good deal.. $400 for unlimite 2r size photo! like credit card size.. they provide printing but they can help u with the wireless device of your official photographer on that day..
Cool yah.. at least this one i can keep the soft copy! if i use polaroid, it will be about the same price. i can only do during the cocktail.. this one i can shop cocktail, group shot and fun shot..

Hi Jun thanks for the info on the instructors!

Oh instant photo is a great idea! Let me know how it works out!

Need to start looking out for wedding shoes. =)

Planning some DIY projects. Going to buy some material at Raffles City's art store today!

Hi Jun,
are u using Live Studios for your instant prints?
Worked with them many time before for work, they're really awesome! thinking of getting them to do instant print for my wedding too, if budget permits!
happy.gif

Hey Plush, nice to hear from you again, with a wonderful summary!

Have you got the wedding slideshows to share with us? I always enjoy seeing the slides from 10eyesGallery. Too bad they never show the recent weddings on their site (I think due to some privacy issues), only upon request.

Hi gals, how's all your planning coming along? Been so slack since the ROM. Haha.
Just booked our flight tics to India this Nov, for the trad wedding shopping...

@Jessica, thanks babe! Yeah, i searched high and low for the birdcage veil...so ex...was leaving posts rgding the veils when a lady emailed me saying she can get them for me from Hong Kong i think...let me know if you wan her email add..
happy.gif

@Jan, np babe..wat's ur email add? I can send u my link.
happy.gif

As for 10eyesgallery, realised that they only do PG and partner with a cool malay guy for the VG. The VG is the one who did the clip...he's creative and is great to work with. I have not gotten the video of the actual day..so cant comment on his video yet. As for the PG, Sze Ping from 10eyesgallery did the job plus his asst whom we topped up for. I collected the cd..need to choose the photos which we wanna hav on the final album. Hmmm...the pics are good..nth to shout abt actually. I jus din wanna have the trad indian style of photo taking as that will be for the trad wedding.

Now tryna work out the things/bookings I need to do for the trad wedding.
Trad wedding venue: Tank Rd Temple
MUA: Susie (since my MIL absolutely thinks she's great)
PG & VG: will agree to the trad indian vg/pg whom PIL book but looking for an add non-indian vg/pg for the journalistic shots... since hv tried 10eyesgallery, am looking for other recommendations...how abt live studios as mentioned above?
Food: most likely komala villas
Decor: Guna (since is my hb's relative)
Favors, Invites, Saree etc: all shopping pending till India trip..

Rani: I am using Instant Foto for only $400. They provide only printing service.. you will have to use your own camera or attach their wireless device to your actual day photography.

Plushinred: you can do birdcage veil yourself right? Learn from youtube or google.

Jun: I'm not very crafty..haha..the lady shipped them within a week...i could not decide which design i wanted so ordered 2 somemore...

Jessica: sure, wil send u the link babe..
