However, u know food tasting may always be different from actual day and i have never actually eaten their veg good at weddings, so i am crossing my fingers. Who did u get ur wedding deco from? And which temple are u having ur wedding? For lengha sarees, u may wanna try jinders or stylemart?

Hi Bride029, u r right abt the food tastin...cookin for a couple of people n a large group makes lotsa diff....hopefully mayura is as good as i rem em to be. Dun worry,all will be fine. My weddings at tank rd murugan temple n im goin with Guna for deco. Where is ur wedding held? N who did u choose for deco? Thanks for the tip on the lengha saree...im considering these two places also. I was thinkin abt stitchin the saree blouses in june...n sort out the jewelleries next month...geez just thinkin abt how fast times flyin, is givin me the jitters alrdy...

hehe..My first choice was tank road..but was told it was already booked...i now know by who! hehe. How long before did u book it? I am getting married in Ceylon Rd and gg with Pandora tomorrow. I am prob stiching blouses and getting jellery next month. Trying to keep June very free....and yeah man, time is flying!
 
Ooops....big space was very impt for us...tank rd, south bridge rd temple n perumal temple r the bigggest in s'pore i guess...my folks booked in november i think...we had such a hard time finding dates...would u believe that was the only date available for the yr? We din have a choice but to take it. Pple book it a yr ahead i heard...whens ya bangle ceremony?

Hey there Jess...jewelleries in general...either gold or costume/bridal set jewelleries....bridal set jewelleries r far more gorgeous than gold ones these days....havin said that, that does not mean that the bridal sets r cheap...they r pretty ex too..right?!........

Think Jun recommended someone before for make up and hair..in one of the earlier threads....i also need to find someone to do d same...

Bridal costume jewelleries are definately not cheap.. But still cheaper than gold. I am into cost jewelleries cos it matches the clothes and is so nice! So I am wearing cost jewellery for the wedding. I need to get another set for my reception outfit in blue and silver.. Any recemmendations on where to go?

how r u guys doin? Its so quite in here.., wats goin on?...n so the stress period has officially started in ma case....Its been diff to please ma mum n ma MIL...both tend to forget im d bride.....had a hard time pickin out jewelleries...thus guess i'll have a few more rounds of jewellery shoppin before its a wrap. I've yet to sort out ma outfit....prob will have to settle that by the 2nd or 3rd week of may. Gotta order gift packs n food for the bangle ceremony. Not forgettin ma brides maid sarees...gotta bring ma girlfriends for shoppin. N also stop by at vinod's for bangles. These are the few things i can rem now...im sure theres gonna be plenty more chores coming up....

The rest of u girls..how r u peeps copin/progressin??

Going for a holiday this week. Will be away for 2 weeks. this means 2 weeks of good food and no exercise! man when I come back I gotta work doubly hard! havent lost the 5kg as planned yet! =S

When i exercise 5 times a week, my appetite get bigger.. i get hungry faster..

Jess: Try to do Shaun T for 10min.. If you feel aching, just carry on the next day. You ache because your body is not use to it! after your body is used to it, you will no longer feel aching.. Or try to have a slow swim or jog when you have bad aching.. it is because of the latic acid in your body. Your muscle is working it out and growing..

Yesterday, i finally got back to my bootcamp after 3 weeks of rest! It was hard but happy that i burn 600 calories! i really hope my arm can become smaller.. Tonight, i am going for vinyasa Yoga..

My colleague said that my face look sharper and my bottom got smaller..

Shaun T is very motivation that why i like.. Unlike other video exercises.. I have not weigh myself after those food i had when my bf is in Singapore.. haha

Will anyone be able to suggest me venues for an engagement ceremony?

My elder sister's was done at Golden Landmark Riverwalk Tandoor. Riverwalk Tandoor was good. Their price was inclusive of decor as well. Their ambiance was great too.

I'm fine with both venues with in house buffet (halal) menu or a venue which requires me to cater food. I'll probably get Islamic Restaurant for the food catering if the venue doesn't have in-house caterer. The venue should also cater up to 150 people.

I am thinking of Shahi Maharani, but I'm not sure of their buffet pricing for events. Riverwalk Tandoor was about S$30 per head.

Your suggestions will be a great help for me. Thanks a lot dolls.

I'm getting my lehnga made in Johor. There's a really good tailor there whose work is divine, but doesn't cost as much as those in SG.

I'm thinking of having a short bhangra performance at my wedding though. Does anyone know how much that would cost, and where I can find such a troupe?

@ Nasreen Begum (exothika) - Try Rang Mahal Pavilion, Sentosa. Heard that their lunch buffet starts at $35. Ambiance is great and food is of pretty high standard.

Guys, I just had my ROM/engagement make-up done at Spa Alangkaara, Yishun. It was a total disaster. Be warned, I heard good stuff about Mala from Spa Alangkaara, but thought that their Yishun branch would not be that bad..*shakes head in sadness*

Hello all.....i've booked spa alangara for ma hair on the AD. Shes charging me 500 bucks with saree tying....think its quite ex considering that fact that she's not doin ma make up n is charging extra 130 per person for doing simple buns,makeup n saree tyin for mum..aunties...im in a fix now... not sure if i shld just go with her or get someone else....the prob is i've paid a deposit too...
 
Hey kani! Sheesh its been long....hows ya prep coming along? Ur weddin is almost here too right? Yeah 500 is ex right? I tot so...besides i've asked for simple hairdo...just cus she has nice temple jewellery set, doesn mean i gotta pay 500...she said make up is no big deal...hairdo is a big thing...so its 500 N with make up is 550....50 bucks for makeup??? wth..
 
Spa alangkaara charged me $60 for make-up and $60 for hair (just blow dry and let down - nothing too complicated). They are among the more expensive places.

Even so service sucks...I asked for nude/light make-up, the lady insisted on putting more, because she felt that I cannot look too plain for ROM (she said her reputation was at stake. The fact that I'd planned to look a certain way for my ROM did not seem to matter). WTH is wrong with these people....she refused to let any of my family members into the make-up palour (my mom wanted to be nearby). Is this normal? They can dictate terms until like that? and she refused to let the photographer for the evening take a couple of pre-event shots either..hiyah, *sighs*, please go to someone else if you know of good ones..I really had no choice, they sprang these surprises on me on the day itself.
 
Hi angeline, thanks for sharing ur experience. Wow im so sorry to hear abt this. Geez i think they have gone too far by not lettin ya mum to be around n not lettin u guys take couple shots. This is totally unfair. I was only thinkin abt taking up their hairdo service cus i heard they have lotsa jewellery set to choose from. The other lady i have in mind has only 4 sets to choose from but i think she can do a gd job. Im kinda confused now. But somehow or rather i dun have much faith in the spa alangkaara pple..tho i have paid a deposit, i;ve not met up with d lady to discuss the details n choose the jewellery sets. i gotta make a decision soon
 
@Sanity - I think you should base your decision on the rapport you have with the two ladies. (Spa alangkaara had a company retreat in the days leading up to my event and I was not able to talk to them before hand). But if you've already paid the deposit, do consider if you are comfortable communicating with the SA lady who's going to be doing the make-up and hair on the day. It should be fine if you find her listening to your requirements and making arrangements to do as instructed. The truth is whatever make-up they put on me was OK, nothing terribly wrong - it was just not what I(the paying customer) wanted and it was her high-handed, mean attitude that dampened the evening for me.

Also, if anyone's looking for a photographer, I would recommend Kenneth from twenty4frames. http://twenty4frames.com/
