Guys for the temple wedding the cater.... how much do we need to pay them before hand .. do we need to pay the full amount before the wedding or what... i dont mind paying the full amount.. but if there is any screw up... then die... anyone can advice what is the norm???

As for the food, think u need to put down a deposit....price depends on how many pple r on ur guests list. Also norm the food bit will cost the most...also depends if its a buffet or the illai saapadu....buffet more ex...
Jess, do u have a bangle ceremony as well? Norm i would think that the inlaws bring gifts then....its so confusin i tell u

oh u missed out on the wedding deco.....let me tell u sumthin....i have so many question marks as well!!! Im not makin any progress at all!!! Im alrdy freakin out abt the deco....My dad's hell bent on Guna....i dun noe much abt this guna guy...all i heard is, he is super old fashion...

Temple cater: Riverwalk? or some restaurant in little india? i have tried riverwalk catering for wedding.. food was good though

Hi Sanity >> having a bangle ceremony too... so many gifts! I think for mine gifts are limited to the parisam... and it's only gold and sweets i think.. nothing too fancy...

Have u ladies settled all your hotel stuff? when is the right time to select the menu and finalize decor? 3 months before enough?

Ladies> Henna i will ask my cousin to do it as she does for wedding so i no need to pay at $$$$...

And my biggest problem the hair - for the temple wedding ... is it a must for a traditional hair do thing.. I cannot tie up my hair because i will have maigrain... i dont know how am i going to survive this

Hi Sanity, I am not doing much henna actually.. maybe just a little bit on the index finger... Friday Henna, saturday Mani, pedi.... going to salon...
Dinnin area n the manavarai also kani...yeah im gonna do just that...hand lotion or sumthin...

Moisturiser: just tried on my hand as i had henna tested on sunday.. guess what.. still smell!
My company always have monthly event and Raj indian food was good too and also have vegetarian food.. Riverwalk also have vegetarian too..
Go to their restaurant for food tasting..
Restaurant food is normally better than banquet chef!

jun - i ve come across shasha on FB too. looks gd. Saheli also seems to be doing a gd job with henna. I might book them bt they seem so bz.must catch her soon. I wanted to hire her for my wedding make up bt she was nt available.
The lady Bubbly recommended seemed v ex. Abt $300 i think. or is tt the mkt rate??
n u guys know where to rent gowns for outdoor shoot? fretting over it. was considering the bridal studio packages at tanjong pagar but SO expensive.

Hi Ness, I am taking Saheli for a few of my events... Menaka for temple.. From my trial I find Saheli's makeup really nice... She specializes in the bollywood look.. It was dramatic but well-done.. Not at all cakey and I didnt look white! loved it! but do note she doesnt do saree tying and hair for temple.. That is outsourced to her saree tying lady... check out her FB...

hi guys .. u are u all fixing for yr decor... i need feedback, because seriously i dont have time to source out as this is so last min... i beleive u guys have good taste all well... if possible i will settle on dealing with all concerns via e-mail... having audit coming up...another headache... life is not easy being an accountant now
Kani, i have not fixed the deco guy yet...u can also ask ur temple...norm there is a guy who does the deco in each temple...eg- guna for perumal n tank rd temple...

i will going down to JB on the 26/02 to pick my gowns for the photoshoot so i will source out then for the wedding invites... i think it should be relatively cheap in JB... and i both side to confirm what is the total amount of people coming before i print...how abt yrself.. printing in SG or JB
sanity> actually true no point paying so much for cards when eventually it will end up u know where.... i want some thing simple and cheap la... no need all the drama kind , so huge huge.. i have recd some invite to some wedding when the card itself is so huge and the post man have to like squezze it in yr letterbox and dammage the card.. so defeat the purpose.. not forgeting postage as well
Yeap kani, i saw sum really extravagant ones, costs a bomb..i bet no one will bother keepin it except us.....told ma folks to stick to a simple design, nuthin flash. I know y do pple print like sum A4 size booklet??? Plus it weighs a ton. So not eco friendly. I wish indians will just start acceptin email invites!

Hi sanity, KM is definitely cheaper.. but personally i find their decor a bit too standard.. if u want smth different, I recommend that u try other vendors.
Jun - haha no I meant the henna lady Bubbly recommended was charging about $300. Bubbly is charging abt $650 in all for both wedding n reception make up.
Jess - I wanted to try out Saheli but I m too lazy to source ard now. I ll jus stick to Bubbly. Sari tying and hair is not so much an issue for me cos its a north indian wedding so its simple. Jus bun up i think. But I really like Menaka's south indian dress up for sari & hair.So elaborate
Kani - I was planning to get wedding cards online from India but it turns out to be so ex. Everyone is recommending JB. How do you guys know where to go?I dont travel to JB very often.
Sanity - I Totally agree. The men r so laid back it makes me even more panicky. Its like u r getting married to yourself hahaha

Hi Sanity >> nope still havent fixed temple decor.. trying to complete this by end feb... the basic stuff i think KM is ok. If u want like special centrepieces or sm special wall hangings then they might not be able to accomodate.. I tried asking them certain types of decor (saw this at malay weddings) and they said they will check and revert. Until now I am still chasing them! =S

hey guys i need your opinion. I ve been sourcing for PG & VGs solely online so far and the quotes mostly come up to abt 2-2.5k each.Like Black Box, Fotowerke, etc. ALot of my relatives tot tts too expensive. One of the VGs even told me Indian couples dont like to spend so much on VG. haha.

kani, let us noe when u check out the printers in JB. Even if the food is fab, welcoming is warm, n everythin else is perfect, m sure my relatives will have sumthin to grumble/goss abt....its neva ez pleasin these pple! yucky

I want to get the deco outta d way asap, then food, follwed by invites, lastly the car. Leavin the MC thing to ma brother, as he noes a few. Once this is sorted....will start gettin ma apparels ready in may....I have relatives comin from ovaseas as well, gotta play host...Oh on the day of the bangle ceremony, need to cater food too, maybe be putup a tent in ma garden for buffet dinnin, must find pple for this also...god just typin all these out gives me the jitters alrdy.

So it depends on what u want...like for ma self, i would hire a chinese pg for journalistic pics to please maself n the hubs...hire an indian pg for takin the group shots to please ma elders. But m stickin with just one VG....this one i decided to engage an indian as, its ez compilin songs. Chinese Pgs alone range anywhere bet 2k-4k or more. Indians r way more ez on the pocket.. Hope this gives u an idea of sum sort. Its gd to look aroun
