I need a JP

Hi all,

To those who already got Bertha as their JP, can u tell me how is she like? I mean conductg the solemnisation?
How much angpao u all gave her?
Thks.

hi Elaine ;p

the procedure when u r opting for an outside solemnization ;p

- u have to get the consent of ur JP first before heading down to the ROM Centre. You will have to indicate the premise, time and date on the consent form.

- The Grassroot leader will sign the consent form. Bring the signed consent form to the Rom Centre and pay $26.

- They will ask u to come back 2-3 weeks later to collect the cannister n marriage cert.

- U will have to photo copy the marriage cert. It depends on ur JP. Mr David Loh offered to passed the photocopies to the ROM centre so we didn't need to go down. If not, u will have to go down to the ROM centre the next day to give them the photocopies.

hope this helps ;p

hi jinette,

10s! but I'm still not so clear about the booking date first or JP sign form first.

I've already contacted my JP, Dr Seet. She agrees to it but she told me that I only meet up with her 1 month before the rom date.

I thot I must meet up with her before I go to ROM centre 3 months before the actual rom date? ok, my rom date is on 26th July, so I must go to rom centre on 26th April (3months before) to book for 26th July. So do I meet my JP before the 26th of April or after that is ok?

hi elaine ;p

for outside rom, there's no fixed quota ;p
as long u have a JP who willing to do it for u it's ok. i booked mine 2 months in advance.
but u have to give 3 weeks for the ROM centre to arrange the cannister and stuff ;p

so u can meet Dr Seet just 1 or 2 days b4 26th May and head down to the ROM centre after she has signed ;p

Hi Elaine, my JP is Dr Seet too... Yah! She also asked us to meet her only about 1 month before our date...

Hi jinette & cynthia,

dear me, I think I better call Dr Seet again to let her know. she said tat she doesn't meet up so early. 10s! jinette for letting my know.

Cynthia, when is your date for rom? How did you get to know about Dr Seet. Is she nice?

Hi Elaine, let me know her reply after you find out from her hor... I am trying to get my FH to call ROM, but all he hears is automated messages (FAQs) or music (on hold). Wonder if the staff at ROM is so busy until cannot answer phone enquiries??? will keep u update once he can get hold of someone in ROM. me have been bugging him to call everyday.

Anyway, found Dr Seet's name on the listing loh... wanted to get someone whom my parents and FPILs know about (not personally lah... at least they would have heard about the name and can remember the face).

But hor... I heard a comment on her. Can you send me an e-mail @ [email protected]? Not so good to post it up here.

My solemnisation will be just before my wedding dinner. It's 2 June 02, a Sunday... which is why I need a JP.

ladies

may i know why do we need to meet the JP before the rom date for solemnisation outside rom premises? for what purpose?

hi jes,

coz you need to sign a Letter of Consent (stating the JP who will ROM you and the venue) then with the letter bring down to ROM centre and book your ROM date.

For approval

Hi Jes,

Sometimes the JP may like to go through the process with the couple, so that there will be no misunderstanding or hiccup during the actual process itself.

hi jes,

faxing the consent form to the JP is for the both parties convenience. my JP told to fax coz i had trouble finding a date to meet him. as long my venue and time are confirmed it's ok if we dun meet. And he prefers telling me the procedures on the actual day coz it's easier for us to remember.

so with the briefing given b4 the solemnization, u will know what to say and expect unlike the rom centre.

i never met my JP until my ROM. but it's up to indivdual. these are just my 2-cents worth ;p

i was also a goondu b4 and this very nice lady at the rom centre told us what we should do ;p

Hi, can any kind soul tell me how long in advance would i need to start finding a JP? My wedding is in DEC. I tried calling 2 JPs but both dare not commit as they say is too early. To make things worse the big day is on X'mas day!! Headache!!

Any one knows how/where to find grassroot leaders??

hihi jinette

I managed to book Mr. David Loh for my ROM! SO happy..I need to ask you something though. When I collect the certificate of marriage and the marriage notice cum license from the registry do I need to pass them to Mr. Loh immediately? or I can keep and bring them with me on the day itself.
Please advise

thanks

hi ilyena

u will have to photocopy 1 set of the marriage notice cum license and pass everything to Mr Loh on the day.

Mr Loh will help you bring the documents back to the ROM centre so u need not worry about going back to the ROM centre the next day ;p

jinette: so am i right to say that there's just two steps:
1) collect whatever there is at the ROM about 5 days b4 the actual day
2) bring all the documents + photocopies i have collected from the ROM to the actual day itself?

Sorry about the confusion becuz the person at the ROM told me that I need to bring everything to the JP straightaway after I collected them from the ROM (ie., 5 days b4 the actual day) then the JP will bring the same documents to the day of solemnization?

hilarion: yeah tho i have spoken to him only thru the phone, i can tell that he's nice. my ROM is on 21/9 and tried to check your schedule with Diana while you were away but she said that you've been fully booked..so sad.

Hi! Ilyena, my sincere apologies for not being able to attned to you personally. That day is suppose to be an auspicious day and so I actually had numerous enquiries even after the booking. The couple who booked me for that date actually booked me since their ROM. Perhaps you may like to call Monica, Triston or Choon Huat. They are all great photographers.

Hil:u r indeed a hot favourite..i can see.. luckily, i was kiasu enough...hahaha
biggrin.gif

ilyena:dun worry.Mr David Loh is a nice chap. He'd make u n ur partner feel at ease. We had him as our JP...well..u'd have no regrets...my frens had fun with him..he's a very jovial chap also....

hi ilyena ;p

yap, juz collect the documents from the ROM centre , photocopy 1 set of them , pass all of them to Mr Loh on that actual day ;p

i also had these jitters too so i called Mr Loh 1 week b4 my ROM to confirm again ;p he told me what to do n bring ;p

dun worry
happy.gif
ur ROM will go smoothly with Mr Loh

thanks everyone for the assurance..i sure need it!

Hilarion: monica and choon huat have been booked too. I haven't call Triston cuz I have never seen his portfolio..anyway my bets are all the photographers should be busy on that day.

Onglai: for my customary I will make sure I book "way" in advance
happy.gif

jinette: when are you having your customary? i saw in another thread that you're bz with you house? it should be fun to decorate your own home

Well, it's just service that I always believed in and it is by word-of-mouth from people such as you that really get my business going. Without all my very understanding and nice customers, I will definitely not be when I am today. I would like to thank all my customers for all their compliments and I shall continue to do do my utmost best to bring my services to the next level. Thank you all once again and Ilyena, should you really have any problems in looking for a photographer, please do not hesitate to write to me and I shall do my utmost in helping you get one. Just a little word of advice to customers who have their weddings on auspicious dates. Do book your ballroom, restaurant, photographer and videographer early. On a good date, ballrooms and restaurants can be booked as far as 3 years ahead and photographers and videographers can be booked as far as 2 years ahead.

Oh wow if Triston is Zoe's photographer then there is certainly no hope left..hehe

Hilarion thanks a lot for offering your help!

I managed to find a photographer thru a friend's recommendation. I hope everything will turn out fine.

My customary should be in early 2004. Gotto wait till my place is settled first cuz my FH is very particular about "An Chuang" Must have a propert bed and all.

Well then I'd better start thinking and planning for my customary soon.

Great! I really hope all will turn out fine. Thanks for your enquiry again.

mel

Mrs Anamah TAN, BBM, PPA(G), PBM 62255822
Mrs Bertha NEO, PPA(G), PB, PBS 62840941

Does anyone know if Mr David Loh conducts the ceremony in Mandarin?

BTW, what is the difference between Grassroots Leader and MP? Are MPs licensed solemnisers?

Hi Jinette,
What is "rom" favour? May I know where you had your solemisation? I am currently looking for location.
Passion fruit

I realised that there are only a few JPs recommended here... Anamah Tan, Bertha Neo, David Loh... Seems like they are very popular, difficult to book them. Anyone had good JPs (other than those mentioned above)that u can recommend? Really appreciate that! ;-P

Ah... best is if they can do it in Mandarin... :-)
