Yes, do try Dr Anamah Tan. Infact, I got hold of her name from another forum and everyone's who's asked her, was impressed with her. I got my fiance to call her up and he said she sounded really nice. But you'll have to ask quickly though. He had to call back a couple of times because she was busy.
I don't think you ought to wait. My wedding is on Oct 7. Call me kiasu but Dr Anamah Tan seems to be a popular person so I got my fiance to call her in January. Early bird catches the worm !
When you do make the contact with the JP and he/she agrees to do it, all you need to do is to mention the name when you file a notice of marriage 3 months or less prior to your actual ROM date.
I'm equally kiasu. I called Mrs Amanah Tan last year (!!!) for my solemnisation this June. Had an anxiety attack when her secretary told me schedule for next year is not out yet. So kiasu me called on the 2nd of January and managed to get it confirmed. *phew*
A friend of mine gave the JP an ang pow of $66. I think the actual amount to give is up to individual. Btw, the JP whom I got for him was Mr. Leow Jee Meng. He's really nice because he agreed to solemnize for my friend in the hospital where he was admitted due to a motorbike accident 1week before his ROM day!
The fee for engaging a JP to solemnise your wedding is the same as solemnisation at the ROM, which is at $26. Giving Ang Pow as a token of appreciation is voluntary.
Chin Leng,
Thx for your respone. May I then check with you something? The solemnisation ceremony includes the signing on the dotted line of marrige or what? My friend said, the signing still need to be done at R.O.M. seperately. The solemnisation is just another ceremony to "recap" the vow only. Is that true? Me wanna sign the dotted line at my dinner banquet. Can it be done?
How do I get a list of the JPs who do the solemnisations outside of ROM?!? And does anyone have the number for Ms Amanah Tan (although it doesn't seem like she'll be available...)
Did you send me an e-mail enquiring about JP's contact number? I've tried to reply to your e-mail but it didn't go through. I'm not sure if you are the same Isabelle that e-mailed me as the e-mail address is different.
Anyway, you can get a list of JP who does solemnisation outside of ROM and their contact number here.
My sis is getting married next year and she'd like to do her solemnization at the hotel too.....how do we go about doing it and how much do we have to pay? Do we just call one of the JOP directly? Wat do we ask and wat do we say?
Would appreciate if you could give the list of JP again cos' the link above was not functioning. Me really urgently need to find another JP to solemnise for my wedding as the one previous agreed to do for me now said he got something on. What a luck of me. My wedding is two months later. U think I can find another one?
I've tried the link for the JP list you've sent to Henry. Unfortunately I cannot access it. Are you able to send it to my email address: [email protected]
Once again, can I confirm that if I were to get a JP for my wedding, I don't have to the Registration of Marriage to inform them already, do I?
I will also be engaging Mrs Bertha Neo to solemnise my wedding in Nov. As requested by her, I'll arrange transport (likely to be taxi since it's not so nice to inconvenience my helper to fetch her). She has no problem with e arrgmt.
I got Mrs Neo's contact thru the help of Chin Leng. I've already met up with her a couple of weeks ago to briefly run through the procedure as well as to obtain her signature for ROM filing notice. Basically she will explain on the solemnisation procedure (kinda std - reading fm a script, guess provided by ROM - but we can change e script if we want as long as the essence of the vows is intact). Also, she will ask about the wedding ceremony program so that she can have a better idea on the proceeding.
Quite a nice lady - I believe she will arrange for both of you to meet up with her before e BIG day!
Am thinking of doing that before the dinner itself at the hotel. (also an excuse for guests to be punctual
, but still cannot sort out on the actual flow of events.
You too? Who do you intend to get as your JP? Understood that grassroot leaders can also officiate, but so far no one seemed to be interested to get them...
My list is the one from the government website. I was thinking of writing in... since still have some time to my wedding.
If really hear nothing from him... perhaps would get somebody else... There are a couple of JP that know my immediate superior. Worst come to worse, ask for her referral loh...
My wedding will be June 2002. My FH has just called up Mrs Anamah Tan but she was not in. But was told by her clerk that we can only call her up in May 2002 to fix the appointment with her.
How am I able to go to ROM to register in March if the JP can only accept appointment in May 2002?
My wedding is also in June, but has been procastinating on whether to write or call the JPs or not... fear that they will give me the same answer as yours...
Hi Whiterose & Adele, have you girls gotten a JP yet? I found it...FINALLY *phew*
Was wondering... my JP asked us to meet her in 1st week of May. Will be asking her to sign the Letter of Consent then. Would it be too late for the registration at ROM? My wedding is on 2 June.
Does ROM have quotas for outdoor solemnisation too? Understood that they have limited slots for registration at ROM itself... anyone knows if the same is applicable for outdoor solemnisation.
I'm also ROMing outside. I need some advise about signing the Letter of Consent.
Do I book the date first with Registry of Marriage, and then get the form from them and meet up with my JP to sign it afterthat? Then when do I bring the form back to Registry?
Do I still need to queue with people for my date even thot it is outside?
Can someone tell me the procedure? I'm quite lost.
