We are currently sourcing for a banquet venue (20 tables), Nov 08. Only thing we have done so far was sign up with the very 1st bridal studio we came across

See, the hotels/venues usually have a standard package right, are there usually room for bargaining? How should we go about it? We are considering Peony Jade, Raffles The Plaza, Raffles Hotel or Goodwood park

Has anyone done their wedding there, or are there other nice venues to recommend?
Any help is good. Thanks alot in advance!!

perhaps alice, a good way to start finding the suitable banquet venue before even tiking abt bargaining would be to determine the price range u can afford to pay per table....do also keep in mind that there's always misc costs per table...like alcohol, printing costs of cards, etc...

a lot of hotels/restaurants r open to bargains...depends on how u do it actually...if not, some ppl do wait for their wedding shows to get better perks...

perhaps check out various places....go and see the places..tok to the coordinators...if u like those few places, then compare within their own packages....

that would be a very good start alrd

yeah also need to determine ur preferences, other than pricing, such as ceiling height, need to be pillarless? hotel or restaurant? if hotel, need at least 5 stars or not? do some venue shopping, and go for wedding fairs, book asap cos many venues are snapped up quick for weekends & also prices are increasing. btw, congrats! =)

Hi Alice, I am new here too and just started planning for my wedding in Nov. No fixed date yet. I have researched places including Equinox, Grand Hyatt, Flutes etc and most are $1000/table thereabouts. Let me know if you want me to forward you the packages.

Hi Alice...

I was once blur like you...hee...you can visit my blog for some tips on banquet research...http://myfortunekitty.com
i have some pictures there too...

With 20 tables...I think you may meet the same type of restrictions like us last time even if you have the budget..we had to scrap a few venues cos' we can't meet their minimum of 25 or 30 tables...you may like to consider Novotel Clarke Quay where I had my banquet...they have a minimum of 20 tables for the Cinnamon Ballroom...

Btw, I went to a Peony Jade wedding before...their maximum is 20 tables I remember...cannot expand if you need more tables...

As for bargaining...perhaps you can ask for 1 more day of hotel stay...waiver of corkage for wine...or more carpark coupons...hee..or invitation cards...

Hi,

I have went for site visit at a few hotels. It seems quite difficult to negotiate for more perks. Can anyone share how to bargain for more perks.

Thanks,
