How to address guests?

If close friends need to write surname or Miss etc?
If family how to write?

No need to write surname for close friends.
If family, you can just write on the envelope outside if in chinese characters "XXX lian2 jia4" Lian2 jia4 means whole family. XXX refers to the surname and name of the head of the family (usually the husband). If you prefer to write in english, you can write "Adrian Wong & Family" for instance. Up to you whether want to write MR or not.

how bout in the card itself for family?
if i know the children ie my students but i am inviting the family how to write?

If you are writing names in chinese, you only write on envelope, cos pple will automatically look at the chinese wording which has no "blank" for names.

If you are writing in english, you just write on outside of envelope and inside of the card on the english side.

In the card for family just write "Adrian Wong & Family" , same as outside on the envelope.. if it is in english. If in chiense, you only write outside the envelope the name of the head of household + lian2 jia4 which means whole family.

If you know the children but not so close to the parents, you still write the parents' names.

You can just write Mr Adrian Tan and family cos "family includes wife and kids".
