Honeymoon by tour or free & easy??

Hi, care to share which is better for honeymoon? By travel tour or free and easy. I hope is not too late to start planning for my honeymoon during any period? I need advice as I've Nv by tour before....

Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon? Personally, I prefer free and easy for a few reasons:

1) You decide on how and where and what etc. No restrictions unlike a tour group.

2) Timing: Tour groups tend to start super early (you can forget sleeping in or snuggling a lil longer to your SO every morning) and can be quite rushed. I've known of friends who've gone on tour groups to Europe and it's so touch-and-go. E.g. They will only stop for about 5 minutes at Eiffel Tower. Some even worse - the tour guide would say there's not enough time so the bus will just drive past without stopping and that's considered visiting Eiffel Tower d.

3) Food and culture: There may be one or two local meals with a tour group but most of the other meals will be Chinese food. I believe when people tour another country, they will want to immerse in the local culture as well as sample the local cuisine. Doing it free and easy also lets you have more time and freedom to mingle with the locals and see a side of the country from the locals' perspective. Consider it an adventure!

Onto the practical side of things, you can still plan for free and easy even in limited time. The only 2 things that were confirmed before we flew off for our honeymoon were our return flight tickets and a hotel booking for the first 2 nights' only. Everything else was done ad hoc on the go in a foreign country. Of course we had a few ideas of the major tourist attractions that we wanted to check out as well as the kind of food that we wanted to try but we did not restrict ourselves to the possibilities hence why we went super free and easy. It gave us the opportunity to actually understand the transport system in a foreign country before deciding on a proper route of how we want to travel to visit the different spots and then only book the different hotels - we changed hotels every 2-3 days to stay nearer to the attractions that we wanted to cover during those days. Plus it allowed us to mingle with the locals and get authentic recommendations as well. We ended up with a fantastic honeymoon albeit planning very little before we flew off. If you know where you're headed to, just do some research about what attractions you want to check out and try talking to family or friends who have toured there before.

Even back during my uni days, I travelled free and easy such as backpacking across the different states of Australia during summer break all on my own i.e. solo. Some people prefer tour group as everything is planned out for them and they don't need to think up or do anything except pay for their tour package and just follow along wherever they're led. The good thing about free and easy, however, is that you can always adapt and modify along the way unlike the more rigid tour group.

In case you're curious how a free and easy honeymoon may look like, feel free to check out our honeymoon video on our YouTube channel (link in my signature below).

Let me know what you end up deciding! More importantly, have fun! ;)

Personally, i prefer traveling by free and easy instead of tour.

1. Flexible - you can decide on where to go and for how long and tour is very restrictive.
2. It is more fun to make your way through to the destination
3. Since it is a honeymoon, it is better travel by yourselves and not with a large grp.

But then again, it depends on where you want to go. If you say going to Africa then it might be a better idea to go with tour. Hope it helps.

Hi! Sorry but is there a reason you're quoting part of my earlier post in this thread word for word and passing it off as your own?

Would suggest you book tour and that too private or small tour (2-3 couples). Leaves hassle of planning and checking every details. tell your exact requirements before booking so you can have a relaxed holiday instead of running all around seeing everything but not enjoying anything.
We had decided with my wife to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary last year but not sure where and how.
We chanced to meet Olga at the Giunone Weddings booth and started to talk. We saw nice photos and videos of Italy and we made the choice to visit this country.
The experience has been unique. We visited places in Tuscany and Sicily we couldn’t imagine existed. We have been in small and big cities ( Florence, Siena, San Gimignano) where the buildings are still intact from hundreds of years.
Rome with all the history and in the middle we have been in outlets where you can buy original branded clothes and shoes with a fraction of the price you pay everywhere else.
We could taste every day food from different regions and wine has been of excellent quality.
Definitely worth the money paid.We are thinking to repeat the experience for our 7th Anniversary.

Hi, can you please share your itinerary and which tour did you go to? Thanks!

i just returned from a 27d honeymoon to germany, austria, prague. all free and easy. very relaxed and sometimes we even choose to sleep in til lunch time before heading out, or cook in our airbnb. its great to know your partner better too.

if you guys are frequent travellers, i don't see why you shldnt go free and easy. but of cos if this is your first trip together and for honeymoon, better go with tour. leave the planning and travelling to your tour guide and enjoy the trip!

As someone who went with tour group and regretted it I highly agree with the points above.

Go free and easy definitely.

Some points

1. PRIVACY there is zero. Every meal you forced to sit with strangers. Want to sweet talk also hard.

2. In a group can be disadvantage. Likewe had to wake up extra early early morning for breakfast buffet cos hotelcouldn't accomdate big group. If you went as a couple no such problems as theycan easily fit you in.

Essentially joining a tour means you at the mercy of the group. It can be a bit let down when you go from star of day in wedding.

3. You are at mercy at lousy tour leaders. Despite confirming twice we wanted single queenside bed in SG we had to PUT up 3 nights squeezing on a single bed. I complained and was told no othet room. Such BS.

The next hotel she gave me a key that say double bed but nope it wasn't.

Among other poor service we were at this special location that we wanted to shop (usually I not into gifts but this was special) the leader said nvm later will come back here to shop. Of course we didn't .. my wife was so upset.

I can go on but you get the point

4. My perception is such organised tours are more often taken by older chinese Singaporeans who can't speak English well and or Malaysian Chinese. So the tour is slanted towards "cheena".

This results in a lot of chinese restaurant meals most of which are going to be bad because let's face it unless you are touring HK/Taiwan/China chinese restaurants are going to be over priced and bad.

5. It's true with packaged you don't need careabout details. But I find in end we were less engaged. Tour tells you where and when to eat, shit, take photos etc. I felt like a animal slave tell you do what do what.
Over all free and easy was much better. You look forward to things you plan.you eat when you hungry. You want stay longer a place you can.

Summary for your honeymoon go free and easy. Plan some day tours maybe. For organised tours leave it for trips with children or your parent.
