hey all, share some feedback regarding my recent wedding at GCW. generally guests commented food was gd (thou some say e miso pomfret abit 'unusual' taste. the glutineous rice was well-received too. first dish/cold dish many felt was impressive. sharks fin gd. prawns + bacon oso unique &amp; well-liked.)

many guests said the drawing of the curtains open to reveal the garden during champagne pouring really had the WOW factor. btw i liaised with dolly from JM, she was v helpful.

slight unhappiness parents had was the fact we opened much more bottles of wine than expected. exceed the one bottle per table by abt 20+ more bottles (which on hindsight isnt dat much la). we had 43 tables. mayb the wine was really gd haha. but actually package gave free-flow beer rite, but many did not take beer. seems like the waiters push more for wine than beer.

anyway, banquet manager + AV technician etc were really helpful. couldnt do without their help. any questions im most willing to answer, being a GCW bride-ed =)
 
hi janice..congrats on your wedding. How much did GCW charge u for each extra bottle of wine may i ask? =) Ya, i also think that nowadays not many pp drink beer but I guess it depends on who your guests are...=)

Hi Janice... Congrats! Great to hear that you had a great wedding... For the wine right? They have a list? Duno if it is worth the effort if I were to look for outsource and pay corkage instead...

Actually one way to stop paying too much for wine is limit the # of bottles... say u willing to pay for 10 more bottles then keep it at that... after that wine finishes the guests will naturally go for beer... no choice mah...
 
i tink each bottle was ard $30. we paid total $600+ more. 22 more bottles if im not wrong. ya, we did not limit the number of bottles. the banquet manager did come up to ask us, so its not as if they opened w/o our consent. but juz slightly piqued they seemed to push more wine than promote beer...

they do not have a list of wine. if u wana take their wine, itz juz one 'brand', one kind.

for those who are given 2 screen projectors, does tis mean we nit 2 laptops on any power adapter or does it need to run on battery alone?
 
yup, if u bring ur own wine, they'll charge for corkage. hence i decided to just use hotel wine. kinda works out about the same cost...

sammi: two screen projectors dun need two laptops. the screens are sync-ed. i used DVDs for all my media. im not too sure if there is a power point for the laptop. if u use laptop, u needa assign a personal helper to control for u. if u use DVDs, the technician will control for u from the control room. u juz needa inform them when to play what disc/track. things went smoothly during my wedding wrt to AV media.
 
hi, just had my wedding on 3 Jan 09. You can bring ur laptop to play. The input for video and sound is at the ballroom level (for grand ballroom) near the entrance of the door.
 
Hi.. mine at grand ballroom. No pictures yet coz all with photographer.

My guests enjoyed themselves very much. The banquet manager is very very helpful. They really make ur day!

I chosed the luggage tags as favours, most of my guests like it.. at the end of the dinner, only got abt 10-12 leftovers (mine was a 44 table dinner).

We did not have food tasting coz we wanna offset the food tasting for 1 table from the wedding dinner. Did not eat much during the dinner. Alot of guests say it's very nice. I had a 9 course dinner. After the dinner, i request the banquet manager to save and serve us the dinner at our hotel room. It still taste very delicious even when they reheat the food! The sharkfin was superb! scallop with asparugus is very nice.

As for wine, i had 1 bottle free per table and we brought in 24 bottles ourselves. total wine consumed was 44 (free bottle per table) plus 17 bottles opened.

Btw my coord is Theresa. The table is incorrect.

i am considering - taking the Galleria ballroom since i only got 10 - 15 tables.

i had my DND there last year. This hotel planner is the only planner i out of so many enquiries that follow up with a call.

But than, it is not exactly very cheap for 1 table given the location - not near to MRT.

I'm taking the Riverfront ballroom... according to my coordinator, u can make the march in 'longer' by doing a L shape one... bt tt means u cannot have 20 tables. She recommended 15 tables for a L shape march at Riverfront ballroom

those taking riverfront ballroom, let say u can only meet 15 tables or lesser.

can they offset the balance like come back and eat next time or top XX amount for the balance 2 tables (not @ full price)

the lady i spoke to tell me, i can use the amount paid for the 2 tables to upgrade the menu or something.

Galleria ballroom is not available on my date. Haiz.
 
anyone got time roughly how long is need to walk the 'L' shape march-in of the grand ballroom? I trying to estimate how long of the song I need.
 

went down today to see the ballroom

might be changing my mind to take riverfront ballroom instead - the view, the higher ceiling and spacious room.

so happen that there is a wedding tonight at Galleria and they have 10 tables. which i felt is just nice.

it either riverfront ballroom on the date i want or Galleria on our 2nd date. Haiz.
