Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel

yeap I think we should all feedback to our coordinators. I did ask Elizabeth why they changed florist and she said that's because JM is a big florist with their own nursery, so they have better supplier of flowers, but somehow from pictures here, their design seem so-so only leh.

Also, I just noticed that there is a $58 nett per table rebate for couples who book their wedding now.. Damn! I just signed on the contract and placed deposit 2 weeks ago leh!

hi deerixp,

I have sent u a pm a few days ago. Did u receive? requesting you to send me the pics of the grand ballroom with the actual day setup.

Shu ai,

Coincidentally, I am also intending to have my solemnisation buffet lunch on the 22 Nov 2009. Will be meeting Theresa for the viewing of function rooms on fri.Btw I am also going to the The Aisle later at 3pm to look at the gowns, The Aisle will be my 1st BS that I am checking out for my pre-wedding shoots and ROM packages.

Hi enivi28, what a coincidence! Potentially same wedding day, hotel and BS! haha... do you intend to hold your solemnization in front of your guests? The function room I'm using is a small one, think can accomodate 30 ppl only

Perhaps you would like to visit The Aisle forum thread to take a look at some of the PS pics posted by TA BTBs.

We would be glad to answer some of the questions you may have

Enjoy your visit!

Shuai,
I went down the Aisle, very friendly but I am checking out Sophia and MDW too on fri. I am not doing actual Day dinner, just solemnisation buffet lunch (~60pax).
You know TA only has 1 PG, Georgie right? If u book TA, will your PG follow u the whole morning to night? If that's the case, I cant take TA cos my ROM falls on the same day as you. TA is giving me photographer for 2 hours in the afternoon.

Hi enivi28, I think there is only 1 PG (Georgie) doing pre-wedding shots. However, if you want to take up AD PS with The Aisle, they have other photographers too. As I like the style of Georgie, I have specifically engaged him to be my AD photographer as well. So he will follow me the whole day (morning, solemnisation and banquet). Did The Aisle promise you that Georgie will be the PS covering your solemnization too if you sign up? By the way, just curious, who was attending to you when you were at The Aisle earlier?

Hi everyone,
I'm very interested in signing up for the Galleria Ballroom in GWC. I am now studying overseas and can only be in Singapore for a few weeks. I'm also fairly new to the wedding banquet planning process. I'm so happy to have found this forum where I can ask fellow brides about their experiences.

Since this will be my first time negotiating a package, is there any advice that you can give me? Are there any other hidden costs that I should be worried about? How does the process of arranging for a banquet works? I know we have to put some sort of deposit. Is one week enough time to finalize a location?

Also, I am planing for a wedding in July/August 2010. Since I am far away from Singapore, I can only be back for 3 weeks in Jan 2009 and then 3 weeks before our actual wedding dinner. Do you think I will have enough time to plan for our wedding? Is there something that we need to do 6 months before the actual dinner? I am a student, so I probably won't be able to afford a wedding planner.

Thanks for your time! and I look forward to chatting and sharing stories with all of you! :D

Hi BTB, the GCW package is very comprehensive and decent price.. Any idea if anyone manages to waive the wine corkage and free 100% food tasting? And book on a weekend with less than 35 tables for the grand ballroom?

Hi Shireen,

I am also an overseas student. I am getting married next month, and our wedding dinner is at GCW as well.

We started planning from around early 2007. Like you, I also surf this forum to see other brides comments regarding the food and deco. I never even saw the ballroom before booking the hotel. All of our negotiation was done via email, I must say that our coordinator was pretty fast with replying our emails. We signed our contract around mid 2007, the contract was emailed to us, and we sign and fax it back to them. Deposit for the hotel was S$3000 which we TT over to them.

Around september 2007, we went back to SG for a week, checked out the hotel and ballroom, and chat with our coordinator. We also shopped around for a BS during this week, confirm and booked the package. We went with a sort of "all-in-one" package so that we have less things to worry about.

March 2007, we were back for a week again, this time for food tasting as well as taking our bridal photos.

Before our wedding next month, we will be back 2 weeks before the wedding to settle the last minute stuff.

I guess most of the things can be done via email nowadays. Since your wedding is in mid 2010, I think you definitely still have time. Will you also intend to take PS photos in Singapore too?

Hi dreamz81, thanks for sharing. May I ask if you happen to know if this website is reliable? I ordered online clothes before but what I got is not what was advertised...will be keen to order too if this site is reliable!

shui_ai> this is the 1st time I am ordering from this website. i actually got this website from another forum friend who bought her jiemeis dresses there. and she is also ordering some other stuff again thru me, so should not be that bad i think.

Hi,

anyone has feedback for the Waterfront ballroom there? Thanks for sharing in advance.

I have actually booked my package with them on for the grand ballroom (Nov 09) but due to some reason I may need to switch to Waterfront ballroom.

So before I find some to take over my date, I like to hear some feedback from you girls.

Hi sky_swimmer, my AD is in Nov 09 too! Maybe we share the same date? haha...anyway, think you should take a look at the ballroom itself to see if you like the overall feel. One of the plus points of the waterfront ballroom is the spacious cocktail reception area and min table req is 22. As for the cons, you may like to note that there are 2 pillars in the ballroom, and march-in is very short.

Hi,

I am letting go a wedding banquet reservation at Grand Copthorne Hotel - Grand Ballroom on 26 Nov 2009 (thu), with spacious cocktail reception area and garden view background. The minimum no is 30 tables.

This is a good deal as 26 Nov 09 falls on the eve of Public Holiday but the hotel is charging a weekday package, without extra cost. Each table cost $838 nett. The deposit is $5000.

Interested party pls contact me 9 7676 446.

Thanks,
Shannen

Hi Shu ai, which ballroom are u taking? For me, as u can see in this thread i have booked 26nov but now looking to shift my AD to 24Nov09. Did u see some master and pick an auspicious date?

Hi sky_swimmer, I am takng the waterfront ballroom. Wanted to take the grand ballroom initially but was told that it was already taken up as early as Mar 08! Yes, my date was picked by a master. You saw a master too?

went for food tasting yesterday. overall the food is not bad. the chef, asst banquet manager and other staffs were friendly. Only thing is the selection of wedding favour not very nice.

Care to share what they have? Coz I wanted to take a look the other time but my coordinator told me that she might be ordering new ones. I'm kinda concerned abt the wedding favours too... mite consider ordering myself if theirs are not sumthing tt I want.

sammi> wat i was shown were the follows :
1. a pair of chopsticks which is like purple and with a "xi" word at the top of each stick
2. shot glass
3. luggage tag
4. 3-number combi lock (pink or blue)
5. a heart shape key chain which is a measuring tape
6. glass coaste
7. a cardholder ornament which no one knows it is a cardholder according to my coordinator

sammi> ya when i first look at the items, i dun find them nice. look abit cheapo actually. it is like the lock is just a small one which is plain pink or blue, no design at all. those that you can easily find on school lockers.

too bad i got no budget to purchase from outside.

dreamz81> ya n some of the items dun seem appropriate for wedding favours wor...

I'm considering to gt from this website... http://www.ideagifts.com.sg/

anywae thanx a lot for sharing, actualli I did request my coordinator to show me the items b4 i cfm on the package bt she sae no pt showing me coz they will order new ones once the existing stocks run out...

i went to see the wedding favours too.. very limited choices.. unlike the ones they showed during the wedding show.. =( abit disappointed and my wedding is in one month's time..

hi

oh no, i might need to get my own wedding favours too if really no good choice.

Anyone ask for a MC stand? I realise from the photo posted, they is no speaker stand for the MC.

heard from my frens, the lightings in the ballroom not very good, it can get very dark. i wonder whether they have any spot light shine on each table.

soniaouch> so far i went for weddings there, lighting i find quite ok. my coordinator told me the lightings you can choose to set at the % you one. if i never remember wrongly it is 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%

the current list of favors doesn't look good... hopefully they will change the favors by the time my AD is nearing... else if budget allows I might have to do alternative plans.... it really is quite disappointing...

Hi gals, I'm actually quite surprised by the limited choices...doesn't reflect the image of GCW as a 5 star hotel...maybe we could feedback to our coordinators so that they could look into it? Come to think of it, I believe the price tag of the banquet deserves better wedding favours. I shortlisted Hilton previously and they had much more nice wedding favours to choose from, and the banquet price is only slightly pricelier...
Also, with feedback about the poor service from JM florist, it is really quite disappointing.

Hi gals,

I have taken JM florist for my ROM. The only disappointing part is that they do up the deco only 30mins from the start of my solemnisation. Other than that, the flowers supplied and the services rendered by the person-in-charge is great.

Thanks Deerixp & Dreamz81, thanks for the info!

Went for foodtasting today. Everything was pleasant, esp the braised shark fins is yummy. But still dunno whether to change the baked prawns dish to scallops instead.

gals, i have prom fixing appt with JM florist. My AD is 3 Jan and initally she ask me to mit her 27 Dec. But i told her i m not confortable, i prefer to mit earlier. Then from last week till now i still cant seems to fix an appt with her.

soniaouch> the stir-fried scallops you talking about is the sze chuan sauce one issit? I had that for food tasting. i love that dish. they used snow peas as the vegetable with it. the snow peas were super nice, very crunchy.

val> maybe you should highlight the problem to your coordinator for them to see wat they can do.

Hi dreamz81 and puggie,

I managed to book appt with JM florist. Going down this fri aft work. Hope the designs will be nice.

Hi Val,
from what I know, if you want sash across the ballroom, they will charge a certain amount. I dont know if this is a normal practice. BTW, do you have a multiply account?
