Hi never the same
It's sad to read what you've gone through but i guess all of us here have been through break-ups and certainly understand the anguish you're feeling right now.
Like yourself, during my last break-up, i was telling myself things like...don't know how to pick up the pieces & move on, easier said than done, etc. Back then, i had concern that the path to recovery may be like my 1st break-up whereby i took ard 5yrs (quite long imo) to really move on. But guess what, I've since gotten over this previous relationship & moved on...and all it took was 2 months of intense grieving...a lot faster than i'd expected.
From my experience, in order to recover/move on faster, you'll need to immense yourself in grief rather than trying to "run-away" from it all by burying yourself with work, etc. By running away from reality and not take time to grieve over the loss, recovery will be slow or even stagnate. If possible, take 2-3 months or so of no-pay leave and simply grieve...let those raw emotions overwhelm you freely. Once you've grieved enough, you'll be surprised how sudden recovery takes over.
All of us are the same...once bitten, twice shy. We all tend to fear getting hurt again. But do give love another chance when it apprears. Do yourself a favour by trying to get back on your feet asap so that when love appears again, you'll be ready.
To SM,
You're no simpleman...you're 1 extraordinary man! After reading your posts, really have to salute you for your strength and big heart.
