Getting Confirmation for Invitations

Hi everyone,

I guessing those of us who has been through the process of sending invites probably has experienced this before so thought I might ask for some advice.

How do you all go about confirming guests attendance and table availability? I'm asking because I have many guests who told me they need to check their schedules, but later either do not reply or took days to reply back.

I need to manage my number of guests, but it's hard to do so when there are people whom I can't confirm. So any advice on how to manage guests numbers would be greatly appreciated.

That said, I often wondered what kind of schedule would require days to confirm.. shouldn't it be as simple as checking your calendar? :P

Ours is mostly confirmed during the save the date stage, the actual invite is just a formality so everyone has a formal invite and can see all the info. Also, this way any last min changes in attendance during formal invite stage won't have much difference from save the date stage.

Thanks alyoop. Unfortunately, guests still said they needed to confirm schedules after we already told them about it way before. Guess we will just have to follow up again with them nearer to our date.

Oh well :/ maybe check again a couple of weeks before u need to start printing invites? Or wait until formal invites are sent out but give an earlier deadline to rsvp?

How long did you need to send out 'save the date' invite?

We did it for friends only, 4 months ahead, a little early but just in case people take extended new year's holiday or something. Gave 1 month period for them to confirm. For relatives we called personally to check, can confirm number of family members, their name spelling and addresses at the same time.
